Are armor penetration marks worth using?

Armor pen quints are worthless.

Armor pen marks give more damage than AD marks later in the game. I don't know the exact numbers but you need very little AD for them to start being more effective than AD marks.

TLDR; AD marks are weaker for bad cheese laners.

I normally run ad marks and quints for super easy last hits and effective trading.

Armor Pen marks are fantastic on Nasus since they increase the damage of Q and Sheen, synergize with the armor reduction on E, and he gains AD from his ultimate.

You learn how to last hit minions without the additional AD pretty quickly anyways considering how often you are under tower.

YESSS!! but it depends on the champ. Overall though AD is better early game for last hitting.

They would be if you could change your runes in champ select like you can with masteries. Someone else said above that they are better than straight AD marks later and that is a good point.

Would be great though, to go up against a Malphite and be able to change to armor pen, because for "all around good" pages, they likely won't make the cut normally. So, yes if Riot bothered making runes changeable in champ select like they should be, but likely no otherwise because they wouldn't be very good in cases where you would be, say, against no tanks, or your team is ap heavier and really those armor pen marks aren't going to be put to much use in that case.

It generally depends on the champion you intend on playing.

Armor Pen marks and quints work excellently on champions such as Poppy and Urgot. Poppy's AD scaling isn't that fantastic in my opinion; so, I run them on her. Urgot, on the other hand, scales off his base AD, which is why he benefits greatly from Armor Pen.

Armor Pen also applies more effective damage against enemy champions than AD runes, but they do nothing for your farming ability.

AD runes are the standard choice for most AD champions as a result of their bonus AD scaling.

Only on AD casters - Zed, Riven etc.
