So i took a break from Riot games and played some stuff by Blizzard, here's my thoughts.

Out of all the other big gaming corporations, Riot games ranks dead last in game balancing performance. Blizzard has balanced their games so well that they don't even have to nerf and buff characters almost 98% of the time. Riot has said that they find it almost impossible to balance a game with so many characters, yet blizzard does it almost perfectly.

Needless to say, when i came back to league, i was astonished at how horribly balanced it is compared to other popular top tier MOBAS and team games.

Riot shouldn't even have to constantly nerf and buff champions because they're broken or under-powered, this should have been completely done before League's release. The only reason that they don't do this is because riot prioritizes cool updates over balance as a whole.

Riot needs to adopt the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" type of balancing. Assassins did not need a rework, and the jungle was completely fine without plants. How do you expect players to get and stay good at your game if you constantly revamp entire classes and drastically change gameplay every season? How do you expect players to climb ranks without pulling their hair out when It is borderline impossible to carry your game 2v5 no matter how skilled you are?

The game is just fine as snow bally as it is. My complaint is that when champions are behind in gold, they can no longer accomplish their designated role in the team. No matter how far behind a champion is, he/she should still be able to influence the game as their role as an assassin/mage/tank/support etc. etc. etc.

I just really don't understand riot's approach to balancing, because it doesn't make any mathematical or logical sense whatsoever.

The game lacks proper communication, pings aren't descriptive enough and the game needs voice comms. "voice comms would increase toxicity you moron!!!11!!1" This is such a dumb excuse, because any company that has a staff dumb enough to add a voice chat into a game without a mute button for each player deserves to go out of business.

Hextech chests should have a chance to drop small to large amounts of rp when opened. Queuing with over 2 people in ranked is unfair and should be removed entirely.

Speaking to league players is like speaking to a brick wall and you guys will never know what truly good balance is, so with that said, i am ready to be downvoted by riot's nazis.

This is written on behalf of my 6 friends who have the same opinions after playing other games and coming back to league.

Some of what you said made A LITTLE BIT of sense, but I got completely thrown away by:

Hextech chests should have a chance to drop small to large amounts of rp when opened.

REALLY DUDE? Skins, something that are supposed to COST MONEY are given out FOR FREE with this system. I can't believe someone can be this ungrateful. Just after reading this, and comparing it to some of the other things you said, I now see your post as the bullcrap it really is.

You probably will be downvoted but I will point out something I do agree with.

"If it's not broken, don't fix it."

Yes, for the love of god yes, this is something Riot needs to learn to respect if its ever going to balance anything right. They took so many champions that had nothing wrong with them and completely ruined them with reworks in both the good and the bad way.

Do I personally think the Assassins needed reworks?

Yes

However their rework took them in the completely wrong direction they both needed to go and Riot said they were going to go with the. Riot pulled a complete 180 with what they said with them and now as it stands most of the Assassins are broken. Kat, Talon and Rengar are waaaaay out of control. Shaco and Akali is nerfed into unviabality and Leblanc is this really strange spot. Kha'zix is almost okay he does need a bit more adjustments, but aside from him the Assassins are all really fucked up IMO.

I do also agree that the game could benefit from voice chat.

I think Riot has what it takes to do better for this game, the problem is them as a company and as developers are just to stubborn. They have a "We know whats best for the game, even if we are wrong" sort of attitude towards the community and by doing that they sort of belittle us in a sense and I think that's why they have such a bad rep when it comes to online games.

You can't teach an old dog new tricks and old habits die hard, so I think everything i just said might be wishful thinking as well.

and their metas are also incredibly stale. Overwatch is literally just 2 supp, 2 dps, 2 tank every game. They even removed the fun parts like all heroes, even in quick play if i remember correctly. Plus it helps that LoL has exponentially more variables than the other games.

Riot shouldn't even have to constantly nerf and buff champions because they're broken or under-powered, this should have been completely done before League's release. The only reason that they don't do this is because riot prioritizes cool updates over balance as a whole.

I can't believe someone said this. I really can't. You want to know why LoL is so popular? BECAUSE OF THE COOL UPDATES AND RELEASES. If the game stayed exactly the same for 8 years, it would become mind numblingly stale and no one would play it.

How do you expect players to climb ranks without pulling their hair out when It is borderline impossible to carry your game 2v5 no matter how skilled you are?

Wow, it's almost like a team game is meant to be played as a team.

The game is just fine as snow bally as it is. My complaint is that when champions are behind in gold, they can no longer accomplish their designated role in the team.

What? So you want getting ahead in the game is just useless now because you don't like being behind. Suck it up buttercup.

pings aren't descriptive enough

wow it's almost like we have chat.

Hextech chests should have a chance to drop small to large amounts of rp when opened.

you sound like a spoiled child.

Queuing with over 2 people in ranked is unfair and should be removed entirely.

It was. Flex queue and soloQ are now different things, you can fucking can it.

I'm a nazi now? Damn, i thought my white supremacy jokes were just jokes.

Blizzard does good balance? Tell that to the Death Knights who don't have a singe viable spec in the new expansion! http://us.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/20749886890

And yet it's the most played. That's not a fluke; it's called the game being good.

I've also been playing some of Blizzard's stuff, and I'd have to say that League is VERY well designed compared to Blizzard's content. If you think that League has spaghetti code, look at Roadhog's hook, D.Va's headbox, the 30 tick server, and the "favor the attacker" nonsense. League of Legends has a 90 tick server, a new client that runs beautifully, replays, and a legitimate balance in the game (you just can't tell the difference between meta and balance).

Well, to be fair, assasins were killing really quickly. Without any counterplay.Rengar

As stated above, champions need to accomplish their designated roles. Assassins are supposed to kill quickly with no counterplay, that's what they do. Armor and health stop them, thats what armor and health do. Thank you for commenting and not being a dick about my post :)

I'm sorry, but I do not agree with that. Having counterplay IS important. you can't just have Rengar jump on you from invis and insta kill you and say that it's ok. It just creates an unhealthy environment. If there is no counterplay, it almost always go the way the assassin wants it to go.

Supports are here to peel for carries. If counterplay isn't important, then why isn't there a support who can cast a spell on an ally that stun every enemy that attacks it? Why does Taric's ult have a delay? that adds counterplay, and prevents him from accomplishing his role.

A game with no counterplay quickly becomes very frustrating and would lose it's playerbase in no time

League of Legends will never be a balanced game. Riot has shown that to be true time and time again. Why? Because 1) they really don't give a fuck 2) they cater to the LoL 1% only 3) drama creates interest.

If they had ever been REMOTELY interested in balancing, they would have seriously attempted it by now. It's EXTREMELY disrespectful and unprofessional to be rolling out 'updates' mid-season so people have to adjust to fundamental champion, item, and map changes that have significant game-playing/changing capability. What other games CHANGE that kind of shit mid-competitive season? Why change anything that isn't game-breaking to fuck up the competitive scene like that?

This game has been out for years (I myself am entering a third season - but probably not for long with this flex queue crap with low bronze and diamond mixes (seriously, fuck that, Riot)) and is still in an amateur development stage.

While it may be 'popular' and have a lot of exposure, it is factually and fundamentally a very poorly designed, executed, and maintained game.
