Riot is in no way obligated to take this board as law. Thankfully they don't. Ive been on this board for many years now. 37 thousand meaningless upvotes almost entirely from this board. Legitimately all this board does is bitch and bitch and bitch. Every time Riot solves a problem this board demands, it just moves on to bitching about the next thing without a second thought. Made bruisers viable? Ignored. Made ADCs not mandatory? Ignored. Slowed down early jungle? Ignored. Toned down tanks? Ignored. Increased solo snowball? Ignored. Did literally anything this board asked for? Lul ignored. Instantly on to crucifying Riot for the next buzzword.

Riot does plenty that the community asks for. No matter what though, this board is GUARANTEED to bitch and whine and cry.

"THE GAME IS DYING!!!"

Literally been seeing this over and over and over for so many years now. Guess you were wrong huh? I swear people people just spam this over and over just so maybe one day they can say "AHA! I was right! I was wrong those other 500 times but I was right this one time!". It's like the Hashinshin effect. Be hilariously wrong 99% of the time but occasionally say something legitimate. But hey, some random nobody on the internet thinks they're better than the developers of one of, if not THE most, successful video games ever. You sure showed Riot with your zero related achievements, qualifications, or accolades in the industry.

"No no! THIS META is the worst! For real this time!"

Literally gets spammed in every single meta period. Every single meta is "the worst so far". Every. Single. One. Without fail. No exceptions. The game has been getting progressively worse since day 1 of beta according to this board.

"The old days were SOOOOO much better"

The nostalgia glasses are strong as fuck. People act like old seasons were so great and amazing when in reality it was the same shit, different toilet. There are always overturned champs. There is always bullshit. There is always burst. There is always this board complaining. "Oh, but we had this one cool thing!" Proceeds to ignore all the bullshit at the time. Oh I 'member!

"No, that wasn't me that was agreeing last time exdee"

Well can someone explain to me how when an opinion can get a 90% upvote rate in the front page then when a few weeks or months later it turns out to be wrong all of a sudden nobody said that? "It's almost like different people on the board have different opions ex dee". Then that comment gets 100% upvoted lol. Wow it's real weird how it was 90% upvoted just two weeks ago but magically now 100% of people never agreed with it. Hmmmm. It couldn't be people hiding behind anonymity? No, not at all. Remember when the IE changes were supposed to be massive buffs to ADCs and stacking Black Cleavers with transcendence was going to be "OMG BROKEN OP"? Weird how I see so many of the same names but magically every single one of them knew the truth.

"But I found this one site that says on this one day in this one ELO that this champ I don't like overperformed!"

The selective stat cherry picking on this site is hilarious. Don't like a champ and want to start an angry circlejerk against them? Search every single site for the absolute highest winrate and pickrate you possibly can and use those numbers in your title. "Wow it looks like champion.gg has this champ at a 2% higher winrate than every other site. That's the only one I care about!"

Honestly I could go on and on about the bullshit on this board. This board is nothing more than an echo chamber for angry shit posting and circle jerking that Riot is under no obligation to listen to. Always has been, always will be. As soon as one opinion gets any upvotes it gets repeated over and over and over and over and over and over with absolutely ZERO regard to whether it's true or not.

If I had any suggestion it would be that that mods need to come down much harder and remove a lot of trash content, blatant clickbait titles, duplicate threads, and witch hunt rageposts that have no intention of promoting actual discussion.

I remember season 1-2 AP Trist erased people by level 2. Flat AP runes page. Then they get back to lane, same thing, then she hits 6 and a rotation ended folks.

Remember Home guarded Ramus with TP? ZOOOOOOOM. Or when kass took tp and stacked R in fountain to 1 shot folks?

AP Sion was a beast.

And Fuck season 1 Eve + Release Xin.

My god AP Trist was so stupid that DOT that had no counterplay, inflicted grevious wounds, and did SO MUCH DAMAGE... I was so glad when that was gone lol.

LB in that era maxed Q first, could simply QR you to kill you starting at around level 11, bought an item called DFG to oneshot you at an even lower level, and her Q silenced you so you couldn't fight back.

I honestly have to take breaks from the boards (not the game) because it’s always so negative. On one hand it make sense since the people having fun will probably play the game and the people who aren’t will seek change at the place where their voice can be heard. But still, this place could be so much more enjoyable and constructive if people provided more constructive criticism instead of posts based on anger and filled with attacks (towards certain champs, players, Rioters etc.)

To be fair, Seasons 2 - 4 were probably the best. That doesn't mean the current game is bad though. I've been enjoying most of this season and it's gotten better since patch 8.11. Devs are doing a lot better communicating with the players on certain topics as well which is great. There is such little actual constructive feedback here it's ridiculous lol.

In my experience, the short period between the end of S4 and the beginning of S5 was the best period in the game's history. S2, S3, and S4 were fun but they had some serious issues as bad as the ones we have now (and worse).

I've played since season 3. My favorite was in the middle of Season 5 and I'm having a lot of fun this season. Probably my second favorite.

It is a tempting proposition. But I have hope that the community can gradually improve itself (through threads like this; thanks Eedat). Ideally, that would be much better than the Mod Squad coming in and cracking down and something something censorship.

As a very big history nerd I unfortunately can say with confidence that people as a group or society very very rarely improve without an extensive amount of time (Decades) or some major worldwide event. And even with both those it can not change, the Jewish people are STILL treated as the punching bag of the world even after all this time.

Funny I never said the boards were worth a damn, just made point about how complaining gets things fixed. Granted I assumed you are were fanboy because you were complaining about them complaining, apparently I was wrong, but so were you in assuming I think the boards have mostly good ideas. Seems we both could use a good nights sleep.

Also I gotta laugh at the Trump/Hillary thing. I voted for Gary Johnson. Oh and the game is dying. That's fact, all games are dying as soon as they are released, its only a matter of at what rate. I'm of the opinion leagues dying pretty fast atm, but since they won't release they player numbers (which in itself is sort of proof it is, if it was growing they'd want to show it off) that's just conjecture.

There's ways to complain about the game without sounding obnoxious, rude, or pretentious. There's ways to do it and be civil and not look the fucking soccer mom asking to see the manager.

Look at how pro players not named Rekkles or Tyler1 ask for changes. Watch qtpie or scarra do beyond the rift. They will explain what the problem is, why the thing is a problem, offer ideas to change the game, and how these changes will affect the game. They're not angry or resentful at Riot because why should you get pissed off about game balance? It's a game. Chill.

I've seen the Realm Royale subreddit and even they're better at that than Boards is. Boards just complains and whines that there's a problem until it's fixed. Then once that happens, nothing constructive. No, "thank you Riot for bugfixing this." it's literally, "It's about damn time, now nerf everything else you buffed to compete with X."

It's cancerous and toxic and it's hilarious how even addressing that toxicity makes you a Riot fanboy, LOL.

Sorry I'm just used to dealing with the fanboys are against ANY kind of complaining against their precious Riot, now matter HOW valid or well constructed. Is the vast ocean of the forums filled with people who are whining without any constructive input? Yes, it may not be helpful, but a wise company would know when people stop complaining about specific things, and start complaining louder and louder about the game as whole being a steaming pile of shit, that they should find out what the problem is, before that ocean shrinks to a pond.

We do all what you say but they fix things to extreme levels essentialy breaking things even more. Yes we want this nerf, we want that buffed, this meta is bad and so on. But we want just that we want sensible nerfs and buffs to make the meta. Not completely break with a single buff to an item or make a champion unplayable with a single nerf.

Eyyy adc need nerf? Just make them hit their potential later? Ye okey. Proceeds to make it near impossible to buy a simple item as brawlers glove nerf every crit item making adc a useless role. Ye no one asked for it. we wanted simple nerfs not game braking changes. > same applies to every other thing they have broken like duskblade and lethality.

There is no "we just wanted sensible nerfs!". Only "we didnt understand the actual changes required to make what we want a reality". People wanted jungle to no longer be level 3 gank level 1 sidelanes and win, then complained when riot gave you exactly that.

Honestly, I don't terribly mind the negativity bias that the boards has. When people are upset about something in the game, this is where they come and post those complaints (to shed light on issues, to ask for help, or just to vent). This is where people give their negative feedback to Riot, whereas most of the positive feedback comes from just playing more League games. I mean, that's not the only reason people use the boards, but I think it will always be the #1 reason that people come here in the first place. (Why people stick around on boards is a bit more complicated, but I digress.) My point is, I don't think it's at all realistic to expect an even balance of positive and negative feedback here, at least not in player-created threads.

However, I do mind when people are just... not good at giving feedback. I'd really appreciate it if people to made more of an effort to be respectful and thoughtful. So I'm usually in agreement with threads that call-out weak arguments, blatant overreactions, and plain disrespect/hate. But again, I don't think it's realistic to expect everyone to be perfect at debating and giving feedback constructively. So while I'd like some improvement in how people argue on the boards, I wouldn't set the bar much higher than it is today.

Lastly, what really grinds my gears/ruffles my feathers/pickles my petunias, is when people take all this negative feedback at face value, blow it out of proportion, and give Riot literally zero credit for anything. Like, yes, League has problems; it's had problems for years, and the developers are slowly working through those problems (while also adding content and features, some with their own problems). But that does not mean that Rioters suck at their jobs, or that people need to be fired. And for god's sake, Ghostcrawler has not "single-handedly ruined" any games. Seriously guys, I don't care if you never give Riot positive feedback, but at least be vaguely aware that they ARE doing their jobs. Not all the changes they make are great (some changes require additional tweaking, a few are just bad), but consistently 80% of the patch notes are improvements on some level. I just don't understand how people can ignore all that and think Riot is running the game into the ground. It's not even close to that.

With that rant out of the way... To summarize, the boards are undeniably A Practical Place to Complain about Things, because it's where Riot gets a lot of feedback. But we can be a little bit better about how we complain and argue. As long as we're complaining with the hopes of giving constructive feedback and making improvements, that's fine. Just don't doom-say and lament, or attack people, purely for the purpose of being negative and fishing for more negative reactions (outrage/guilt/hatred/sadness). Those bad feels aren't good for anyone in such high concentrations, and most people would prefer to save those emotions for real-life crises.

P.S. INB4 "found the Riot fanboy".

The sheer vitriol I'm seeing in responses to this post outlines a major major problem with the boards currently, one that's been building for years now. Just like most other boards of this nature, the negative attitude this board has been nurturing is building to capacity. Over time the boards have just gotten more and more negative, with each patch making the situation worse. I fear even if the balance of the game improves and things overall get much better, the boards will still be just as toxic.
