Why do only certain champions with "executes" have indicators?

Think about Chogath or Zed , both have execution indicators, which - obviously - show the respective champion a visual effect when their executing ability will successfully kill, but other champions with execution ultimates, like Garen and Darius don't have these indicators.

If you have no clue what I mean, let's look at Cho. When there is a champion near him with health under the kill threshold of Feast, a glowing red circle shows up around the champion. Basically when you're playing Cho'Gath and the enemy Ashe has a shiny red circle around her, go for that flash Feast.

Look, handy dandy pictures! http://i.imgur.com/QRY4Z.jpg

Conversely, when Zed activates Death Mark, if a spinning Razor Shuriken appears over the target, this means that the burst damage of Death Mark will kill the enemy. Just ult'd the enemy Annie and a spinning ninja star is over her head? Reactivate and don't look at the explosion of gore where Annie used to be.

These are all fine and dandy, but there are other champs in the game (Garen and Darius, in particular) that don't get these markers. Ever play Garen and think "The enemy is at low health, but I bet I can risk the ult!" only to be met by an embarrassing whiff? Ever flash Noxian Guillotine onto an enemy only to be met with shame and dishonour rather than a delectable kill? Of course you have, why am I telling you?

TL;DR: Why do Cho and Zed have execute indicators, but Garen and Darius don't? It would be a nice QoL buff to both champions (who aren't exactly in the best positions right now anyway).

I didn't even know that about cho, I'm going to need to start looking out for that when I play him.

Absoluterly no.

No one should be able to have such a thing, neither Cho nor Zed. It's like having an auto-smite for the jungler. It kinda reminds me of the "2017 urgot rework" post on reddit... this is pure shit.

You don't have to be good or experienced with that champ, the game will just warn you when it's time to press R and win. Low risk-high reward.

Cho'gath has it on champions because he won't gain the Feast stacks without killing the champion. It's supposed to be an indicator of that, so you don't waste the feast.

Cho was 1st to get 100% kill chance indicator..

Zed got his just because Riot fauvores him. That's all. There is nothing more.

Garen was non existant for over a year. Seriosuly. Everything about him was worthless. He came back to champion rooster like 4-5 months ago? So Riot just didn't think he'd need one. Also his execute is one of the worst from all champs. Right before Evelynns "assassin" ultimate. To deal killing blow your target has to have less than 15% hp and low magic resist.

Darius? dunno.

This was brought up on the old forums with Darius vs. Cho, and a Rioter said basically that they considered it a skill challenge for Darius. It's silly, but they at least said something there. Garen is just unloved.

Zed's mark is visible to the enemy team as well, so it's a double edged sword. A particularly observant support could (hypothetically) judge whether or not popping a saving cooldown is necessary. It's a little bit less useful on both sides than with Cho, at least.

Zed is LC$ big plays while Darius and Garen are stupid melee bruisers that are boring to play. gg.

Cho is an honorary mid lane glass cannon mage.

Using Garen's ult too soon isn't REALLY a risk, since he doesn't get anything special for killing with it after another attack as opposed to using it before the attack. Since Darius has the pseudo-reset, though, he wants an indicator.

I think there should be an indicator on every execute ability. Mainly for clarity, both for the person with the execute and for the person that could potentially be executed (If the indicator appears for both)?

Let me tell you a story, there was this Cho that was chasing a low HP sejuani. Problem is cho forgot about item 3717 and as the circle glow under Sejuani, cho was decided to ult just to be smited last second and wasting his ult.

The indicators can change with shields and armor/MR buffs and insta heals. I feel more comfortable with eyeballing it since it makes me consider all this things while an indicator would prevent it (as I would get lazy)

I'm pretty sure Zed only has the indicator to tell him when he can return to his starting position and proceed to spam laugh

Bump, strongly agrees, this should be done to help with the game experience.

Zarxis2/26/2015, 5:05:45 AM1 votes

In short, neglect.

Some people would say it's because having that execute indicator account for magic resistance/armor is difficult to program, but Zed's indicator is proof that it can be done.

Garen I agree but not Darius because of the stacks of Hemorrhage. Those stacks are enough to say hey look i have 5 stacks kill me.

Matezoide2/27/2015, 12:45:23 AM1 votes

I would love this on Garen. His Ultimate sucks so much dick early game and has that asinine cooldown. If you mess it up, you basically lose the lane/go even (Which is the same as losing if you are Garen).

I think anyone whose ult could kill someone should have that indicator now. Lol thresh with his box and I realize i just have to Q or E them into a wall. Or Xerath when I'm fed and OP I decide to try and kill a tank with no HP and wiff while a kat with half HP turns out wasn't building armor or HP. Then there is Teemo. Sorry but I don't think he is THAT deserving. He just lays mushrooms everywhere and someone are always found the hard way.
