People only say gg when they win

PopcornBunni··18 votes·3,185 views

Very rarely when they lose.

It isn't a formality or a show of humility, it's rubbing the win in the losers' faces. Might as well say ggez; same thing.

PSA: You don't have to say gg after every game. It's not a rule. Awaiting defense squad to come in with the downvotes.

I say Gg if I feel it was a good game, win or lose. If either team gets stomped, I don't say it because it would feel more like taunting when it clearly wasn't a good game

I will say GG if i lose (or win) a close game.

If i lose a game where we got utterly stomped i will say GGEZ.

It's psychological dude . Lots of people say " GG " when they win , but in fact it means ( at least for me ) " You fucked up "

I know right?

GG WP when it's a 25/2 stomp makes a lot of sense, totally very well played and was a good game for the enemy team.

Uhm, GG means good game. As in, it was a good game, thanks for playing. I know some people get tilted easily, but this is the most sore loser thing I have heard. It's like a handshake after winning a match of tennis or basketball. You know what they call the people who just walk away from the handshake? Babies. A sore loser. GGEZ isn't a good thing either, but saying someone is rubbing the win in your face for saying GG is just being a sore loser. People have always said GG. It's not a bad thing.

If you get upset at the equivalent of a post-game handshake, you need to calm down.

I say it when i win and when i lose. But its really hard not to get tilted when you are geting stomped and the team dances at the nexus spaming lvl 7 mastery and saying gg ez noobs

I try to say it in both scenarios, however it is really hard to give the 'gg' when you stomped but the team went 0-20. Especially if the enemy is throwing out mastery emotes :P

I think too much people are considering "gg" as a taunt, it isn't. It's just something you say by default when the game ends, kind of like a reflex. It's more about the people who lose and don't say gg that are salty.

I think you miss the OP's point, you say it has more to do with the people who lose and are salty/bad sportsman

But OP is noting very accurately that in reality virtually nobody says it when they lose. It's literally everyone this applies to, you, me, tom from down the street, pokimane, phreak etc

Yall in here saying it's reflex, funny how that so called "reflex" disappears conditionally 50% of the time.

At the end of the day it's obviously just a platitude, but do you really think that guy with a loading screen D.C. In top lane and a 0/10 bot lane wants to read that it was supposedly a "good game"? When it very clearly wasn't?

Do what y'all want, but i wouldn't call it polite for the winning team to all 5 say gg before anyone on the losers side says it.

I say it when I lose, I see other people say it when they lose. This is generalization in waves.

Yes it's a generalization, but it is a generalization based on the trend, not on every individual, and is in that scope very accurate

That's because typically when I lose. I get inted therefore it wasn't even a game where I had even the slightest of fighting chances. Therefore saying GG is looked at as bm

Escheton2 votes

Well yeah. Because those winning are more likely to be having a good game. Losing teams usually only say it in response or if it was actually close and fun. And lately, it rarely is.

It deppends. I always say GG even if I lose but ONLY if enemy is honor worthy and polite. Sometimes enemy is so cool and fun that I am sad I cant honor any of them after the match, and sometimes I simply cant. As in my last few games when our CHOgath left the game after being killed once. They all spammed easy, ggez even tho it was clearly onesided as it was clearly 4v5. We were all squishs without the frontline and they had farmed Illaoi. In that case I say nothing, or BG.

In the other hand, I had a game when everything was even from the start til the end, same amount of turrets, inhibitors, almost 40 minute game, everyone fed, the game where 1 single death means the end and everyone was fun and cool. We won but i wouldnt have any problem if we didnt because our enemy was a worthy oponent.

I only say it it was a close match win or lose.

I think it's the NA problem, on EU most of the people say GG even if it's a lost game (Except Yasuo/Fizz or any adc mains, they are cancers) :P

?

stop complaining because you can't win.

If you win, it's a great way to rub it in the other team's face.

BeastOfCaerbanog1 votes

I have no issues with "GG" unless it's my teammate saying it in at 2:00 after enemy first blood...

The issue i have is ppl spamming "EZ" which while offending (lesser problem) is often times right down retarded (saying it after a very long and hard game). Seems i got bigger problem with enemies being stupid then disrespectful, go figure...

egoSniper1 votes

This is even more bothersome when that one guy on the enemy team (you know the one) who gets curbstomped the entire time says 'ggez' as his team wins in spite of him.

FOR JUSTICE1 votes

I say GGWP always "GG WELL FKIN PLAYED" if its close

I strongly disagree. There's a long tradition in the US of shaking hands with the other team for sports events and it's very common to say "good game."

It's not intended to be an assessment of the facts. It's intended to be a polite gesture that preserves the spirit of fair and honest competition.

I don't understand the backlash against politeness. No one expect you to say it if you don't want to, but don't get all salty at others for trying to be nice people. There's no sense in that.

edit: also, I do say it nearly every time I play, including losses.

See it seems like the majority of you are misunderstanding, is it commonplace at sporting events to say good game? Yes, and EVERYONE does it, to the point that if anyone doesn't it's looked down upon.

But 5-10 games in league is enough to see that the MAJORITY don't say it when they lose, it'd be one thing to say it is customary sportsmanlike conduct if it was the norm in league, but here's the thing, IT ISNT.

So if you're one of the people who says it regardless, you are either one of two things, the exception to the rule, or a big fat liar. If you are the former, just understand that when the majority don't do it consistently despite losing, that your "sportsmanlike conduct" just comes off as crass

I say it whether i win or lose but i think it's just the habit of doing so.

The only time I feel like saying gg is fine for me is a match where there wasn’t 4 useless people and one carry (my team or the enemys) and the win or loss wasn’t decided by someone abusing a horrendously broken champ like cho or Ezreal atm otherwise I’m just gonna say bad game cuz I’m not gonna lie and act like a landslide victory or landslide loss because of something broken or a brain dead team on either side (almost always jg or bot) is a good game in any way
