This game just feels like it's getting way too expensive for no good reason.
Balance has been the worst it has ever been. Champions like Yuumi and Pyke have completely busted kits. Matchmaking and autofill are horrible. Smurfing is getting out of hand, and from what people and high ELO are saying, there are far too many boosted players trying to halt decay. Worst of all is the amount of client crashes recently though.
Yes, it's free to play, but there's so much wrong with the game right now. Who would give them more money? Riot isn't cash strapped. They're a major corporation. Every event encourages you to buy a pass for tokens, and prestige skins are a way to pressure players into buying a pass instead of letting them simply buy skins at reasonable prices. We shouldn't have to pay for something AND work for it. That's a completely backwards system, and none of the prestige skins have justified such a practice. I don't think any skin would.
The battle pass implementation was bad enough, but now they're stealing an idea from DOTA 2 that nobody liked to make even more money. It's exhausting.
