Actually I think it is for the gold gen and mana regen, since Make It Rain will pretty much get your stacks every time at a large range.

He went with AP runes, but bought armor pen items. Cause MF's ult scales with AP, but does physical damage. I'm guessing, his next item would be something with AP (maybe Liandry?).

No. He went AP runes because the laning phase is important, gives you the first turret if you win it, and lasts only 10 minutes and all he did for those 10 minutes was to spam E. He used those runes to win the laning phase, and possibly snowball from there. He then bought actual useful items because AP Miss Fortune is garbage. Why the hell would you want to buy Magical Penetration on a champion who only has one magical ability? Do you even read your skills?

Funny thing is people assume item 3303 line of items has something to do with magic damage... When it actually had nothing to do with it. I had a friend who would play Pantheon support and start that item, because spears get the bonus damage, his W gets the AP damage, and it's mana regen + gold gen. He literally makes good use of every part of that item better than either of the other gold items.

item 3151 item 3285 proceed to chunk any non tanks for over half their HP with one e. then throw in item 3100 for added burst.

AP MF is fine, you scrubs are behind if you never seen a support MF before. It's old news brought back to life.

Why don't you play a champion with 4 skills that scale of AP and deal magical damage instead of one? Like Brand? Or Zyra? Or any of the dozens mages? You realise you are playing 1/4 of a champion? AP Miss Fortune is garbage. You would chunk any non tank for over half their health and more if you played AD too, except your auto attacks would also hurt, and so would your Q and R.

AP MF is functional, works and is fun. That's the only reasons I need to play it. With 2 item power spike anything inside of MF e gets spreaded from insane range.

Ever try laning against AP MF? It's not fun. There is little counterplay to it if you don't have a movement skill to get out of it and you have to just take the damage. AP MF has a way better laning phase that doesn't revolve around retards letting you bounce Q's into them.

You might wanna look up physical damage, magical damage, armor resistance, magical resistance and skill scaling. AP does little for you without good scaling and the appropriate weapon penetration type.

All of kogs abilities have shit for ap scaling. He was completely relient on M Pen. Void staff and liandries torment where what made him viable as ap.

No? his E scales harder than Brand's W, and his R ratio / damage per second is nuts, his Q and W are okay. He is good too when played AP currently btw, his damage is damn fine, people don't play him much because he is fairly reliant on his R, and his R isn't very good before level 11 at least and before you have enough items to sustain spamming it, and currently league of legends is really snowbally. You can't really afford to be pushed around or barely break even for the first 20 minutes of the game. Plus he has no hard cc or escape.

You can have a long sword but still hurt a squishy target. Just because your E does damage doesn't make it viable.

The funny thing was, before here mini rework I would go AP MF in the mid lane quite consistently and did rather well with it. Now I don't even try. Although what Rox did was pretty funny.

There is a difference between AP MissFortune and Support . He built a support MF which involved making his e hurt early and mana regen to keep using it. Everything after that was armor shed/penetration.

It actually used to be quite good. I played it for a few weeks and even won a ranked game with it (top lane). But the removal of AP scaling on the W and the gutting of the E base damage killed it at the start of the season.

The E nerf where they lowered by it 90! damage from 310 to 220 at the start of the season was when I finally stopped playing her AP.

She was better way back in the day when she had AP on her W, her ult did magic damage and her W had AP scaling.
