I have the impression that Tahm Kench will someday become pick or ban

Seriously, TahmKench is a very good champion.

He can eat allies, protecting them from ganks and all-ins. He is a very good counter to a number of popular supports, namely Thresh and Blitzcrank. He has a Pantheon ult that can be used to bring an ally, too. He has a powerful hard CC (although it is extremely conditional) He is very difficult to kill, thanks to his Grey Health mechanic. Grey Health also means that Tahm Kench is difficult to poke, unlike other tank supports. He can prevent a dangerous assassin such as Zed from killing his allies, just by stacking "An Acquired Taste" on them and eating them.

If all that weren't enough, Tahm Kench can also be used as a top laner. I have yet to see a Tahm Kench top lane, but I suppose that he would be a good counter to other tanks and bruisers, due to his Grey Health and his high base damage. He would also be difficult to poke with long ranged mages that make other tanks have a hard time during the lane phase.

I am extremely sure that once Tahm Kench is used on a LCS match, he will suddenly become popular, people will realize how strong he is, and he will become pick or ban, soon.

"Tahm Kench is one of the most balanced champions since Vel'Koz." No, he really isn't. He's pretty OP if you can play him correctly along with his ulti. Tired of people saying a support eating a full hp champion and taking them down to 1/4 is balanced.

So sick of people grossly exaggerating how much damage a Devour can do.

First it was chunk to 50%, now its chunk to 25%?

Given his optimal build, we're looking at "chunk to 65%" at best, with 67% far more likely. Maybe 60% after autos or tongue lashing.

Which hurts, but if you stay close enough to the Mouth that Walks for long enough to let him build those stacks while you have no one to back you up.. well, survival of the fittest.

Hyperbole only makes you impossible to take seriously, kids!

well technically it should be 32% since ur going full tank anyways i pref to build tahm full cdr, attack speed, hp and resistance meaning item 3115 item 3174( or item 3158 if i have 5% cd from masteries) and then full tank meaning tahm is unparrallelled in duels as hes eating and stunning his enemmies every 5sec

Vel'Koz is OP if played right. ANYWAY IS OP IF PLAYED RIGHT! (with a few very small exceptions)

Tired of people like you that says things like that. Yet you knew real well that he has to hit 2 auto attacks and a q. Plus he is 200 range so it's hard to even eat an enemy champ in team fights because people will just kite you since you have no gap closers beside ult that can be canceled by damage. Learn to play

I thought about this a lot too, and I agree with you. He might be one of the supports that sees more bans.

I don't think top lane Tahm Kench will ever be a problem though, and it will be a situational pick based on some match ups. Ironically when he first came out I saw people want to play him in ever role except support, and it was never pretty. Either because he got wrecked, or because his lane opponent was so bad. I think he's a pain to play against in team fights if you're an all-in type of champion, and that's really where his strength lies.

Of course he's going to be pick/ban

He literally counters an entire class by eating the carry they are trying to kill (assassins) He literally stops a certain type of teamcomp (engage/dive comps) He can stalemate a lane by saving his adc EVERY time no matter what

You have to look at the bigger picture here, this guy literally has one of the best cockblocking abilities on a fairly low CD.

Supp Tahm is going to destroy LCS once they finally get up to date on him.

30% winrate. Even lower that Bard release.

If you ever want to climb out of bronze 4 I suggest you stop thinking that winrate actually matters in most places.

Don't bring rank into this. I haven't played ranked seriously in months.

looking someone up to use their rank to try to counter their argument is full chode mode. Dont be a chode. They smell.

We just have to wait til some one in the LCS does a huge play that shows how good he is and every one in solo queue is going to try it and everyone is going to cry about how op he is cause some one found a good role to as, a good build for him, and what to max etc. It happen to Ryze now we just have to wait.

I think it is actually because he is so good that he won't ever become pick or ban without a serious meta shift and/or a pretty substantial buff. H is excellently balanced, having both immense strengths but also very clear weaknesses. he is very kiteable by anyone with a dash, has very clear windows when he is not strong (like when devour is on CD, when his shield has been broken, if he goes into a fight on low health) in addition to his little moments of awesomeness (Yes I just nommed your scary master Yi and will spit him out when he's good and weak).

There are a lot of quotable characters, but you don't really need a dash to quote them.

I think he will be nerfed significantly the moment he is picked in LCS.

He might be more or less fine for SoloQ, but pros in LCS will surely abuse his strengths (especially his ultimate).

His power will mainly come from his devourer ability.

I imagine jinx and kog maw being good picks with him because no assassin will be able to even touch a ADC with tahm kench nearby.

This guy needs serious cooldown nerfs on his devouring ability.

I'm pretty sure Tahm will get picks/bans as soon as he is allowed in LCS play.

Dude no, he's meant to be a full AP solo mid.

"Suddenly become popular"? You say that like he hasn't been in practically every game since release and still maintained a 30% winrate because he's relatively balanced and damn hard to play.

So far I've personally seen him most successful as a support. I've seen a bot lane duo with Tahm successfully gank other lanes w/ Tham ultimate with seemingly no response to the situation, especially if the jungler is also available. I think at the very least he changes the way you are forced to think about each champion's position. There are other champions like this in the game; the difference to me is the risk involved with a TF or Shen Ultimate is much higher. There is no risk at securing a devastating position against singles or duos of opponent champs. I think perhaps his ult should take a couple more seconds, or maybe extend based on the distance Tahm has to travel across the map.

Also right now he is ludicrously tanky. His health passive is crazy. He definitely offers pretty high utility for his team as a whole kind of no matter what other champs you pick him with and that doesn't seem right.

SpecterVonBaren1 votes

Tell that to the Tahm and Rek'Sai that attempted to flank my low hp team after a fight. I saw the mark and immediately placed my E down and nuked them instantly as Veigar. Of all the global movement ultimates, Tahm's is probably the hardest to use effectively because the tell is so long and unlike TF or Pantheon, Tahm has no instant hard CC to use when he shows up, I've seen so many people, myself included, try to use his ult to flank people and because it takes so long, has such a short distance early, and is highly telegraphed, it really doesn't do as much as you'd like it to unless the enemy is waaaaaay out of position and not moving through the fog of war.

SpecterVonBaren1 votes

Tahm may be good but he has a lot weaknesses that make it so I don't think he will become oppressive. It is very VERY hard for a Tahm to engage on the enemy without just blowing up since his hard CC requires him to hit the enemy three times with autos or q. Champions with a mobility move just stop him from doing anything, Kalista is a nightmare for Tahm, he can't do a single thing to her.

Tahm is much more of a counter-engage, peel, support like Janna and because of that I don't think he's that big of an issue.

terkmc1 votes

He's a little op in my opinion. Im fine with how his mechanic works, but that grey health shield is a bit overtuned, almost doubling his health in a fight.

Dextix LT1 votes

In lcs, yes. OTherwise, no. PEople consider him a troll pick. People even start trolling themselves when they see tahm.

Theorchero1 votes

He will be a god tier support, up there with Bard and Thresh. Although he can be taken top (like Naut currently is) if they want Kalista/Thresh/Kench combo.

Eyesaac1 votes

I find it completely repulsive in terms of balance that Tahmas the TanKenchine (copyrighted now, all mine, hands off) can devour a teammate and then GAINS movement speed for doing so. He's literally GETTING HEAVIER with this ally in his mouth yet he runs faster. I think this should be tweaked, maybe slowing his movement speed to that of xerath charging his q? That way it makes sense because he is granting an ally complete invulnerability while dipping out of potentially lethal damage, and he's hauling ass faster than he would if he didn't have a buddy in the belly.

Salt Miner 49 Er1 votes

Tahm Kench and Kalista is an infuriating lane combo, even more than Thresh.

What he lacks in Thresh's sheer engage potential, Tahm makes up for it by being able to eat Kalista whenever she's in danger and running off, and she can ultimate him to safety as well.

Doesn't stop me from loving the champion though, don't get to play him a whole lot though.
