Sona keeps getting nerfed...Weeeeeell.
Her poke is probably the reason since her last nerf was to her Q. But I think it's just when she goes AP and ends up doing 700 damage with a Q+enhanced auto with Q buff. I checked an ARAM game I played, and her Q, just one, with the enhanced auto(s) did 753 damage total...She had about 453 AP. Not even 500. Maybe I'm missing something but that's just stupid to play with considering she doesn't have to aim. Point and click. She's not a fucking Veigar with Q/R, for christs sake...And even then, Veigar has to aim more before he can delete a champion (stun->R or Q+R...Or stun->meteor->R for probably for-sure deletion). She just has to hover to you with her enhanced movement speed (if she uses the aura before hitting you), Q, auto, retreat with her MS aura (if she didn't use it to get to you)...Recharge Power Chord...Repeat at an ok mana cost (she'll prob buy a Chalice anyway) since her spells are often useful in healing or poking even without Power Chord until something else happens and she ults/you die/she dies/???...Definition of poke champ. Literally a Lux with less range and 3 less skill shots to deal with.
Her Q with enhanced auto is a total 70% AP scaling since there will almost always be one proc with her Q/auto combo...260+70% AP, and her ally will also have onhit damage for another 60+20%. That's, what, 320+90% AP? As well, That's stronger than a Morgana Q if we exclude the Root, for christ's sake.
Actually, iirc Q's scaling is now 40% (unless they changed it back?)...So, let's say 320+80%.
Let's call it without the on-hit damage too. 200+40% @ 500 AP -> 400 damage. Ok.
Why the hell does Sona even have an AP scaling on her passive? Her heal also gives a shield that, again, scales on AP for some reason. That actually makes Sona going AP (probably Rylai+Liandry combo for ultra poke/annoyance) viable in that matter. Her ult I don't really have quarrels with. It's just her virtually limitless poking and actual damage when the supposedly support champ goes AP. Even Nami who's said to be a really good support going AP will never do as much damage.
To put this into perspective...It took Lux until like...what was it, patch 4.1? 4.2? To get the AP scaling on her illuminate (passive), and in reality, her autos won't proc illuminate that often since she's a kiting champion that can't proc the illumination every time with her autos (and on everyone she hits since she attacks slow...Runaan's Hurricane Lux new meta?). And her illuminate never gets a damage increase if you hit any spell first...The only similarity there is when you ult and it procs Illuminate while reapplying it allowing for another possible proc...The only difference is, she can proc it 3 times before Sona procs Q once, but that's again, if her spells applied the debuff in the first place.
192+20% AP along with a 40% damage increase if it was used with her Q active? If she had 500 AP, that would mean around 269+140...
Let's add Q damage now. 269+140 + (Q -> 320 + 400) = 1129 @ 500 AP, without the ult or the passive improvements from the ult. That's if her on-hits both hit. It's about 160 lower without one on-hit and 320 lower without both on-hits.
Or, without on-hit damage... 269+140 + (Q->200+200) = 809 @ 500 AP without the ult...Meaning she can do 809 damage every 3 Power Chord stacks (while she probably charges them by Qing you or healing her lane partner/team).
I wonder why Rito nerfs Sona. It's even worse when she gets Lich Bane and adds onto the already annoying poke damage every x+2 seconds.
Yeah, it doesn't matter that she's squishy. You're not likely gonna focus a fucking Sona in the team fight unless she is the APC... And even if you do, Rylai+Liandry combo gives her +700 hp...If she, for some reason, gets a ROA, +1350 hp. (Those 3 items give about 210 AP total or something too before masteries/runes. One Raba and she'd be at 400+ AP.)
You're probably gonna focus their ADC or mid champ since they tend to do all the damage (top too maybe? Jungle? Looking at you, 100-0'ing Rengar...). Sona isn't useless after her ult has been used, but it's still an annoying ult to deal with...Only way to negate it is to kill her 100-0 before the fight even starts, which is when she might use it instead of in the fight (to try to escape/save herself)... But not during the fight, since she'll most definitely ult before she dies.
I use to like Sona before her rework, and I'd often times play her during free week. Literally hate her the same, if not more, than actual cancer champs in this game lately/since her change.
