Nimbus Cloak came through after all

I'd like to meet one person who supported that change. It's so unnecessary

Same with hail of blades. I made some posts about this a while back: Nimbus Cloak Hail of Blades

Both runes will be good on Diana. Nimbus cloak to get close enough for her to E the enemy back after they flash, and hail of blades to enhance her ability to proc passive.

They just added 2 runes that won't really be picked. Maybe a Morgana or Vladimir will take nimbus, but Hails of blades just seems useless as keystone

Karma needs the Manaflowband more, same actually goes for morgana, now that I think about it. Rakan could use it, but his engages are ult w after which running faster does not really do anything for him. Why would I replace the bonus AD I get from Celerity or thwor away the bonus ms I get from walterwalking for a 2.5 secs movementspeed buff? Same for Sivir. She really likes Gathering storm and the bonus AD from Celerity is just better thant 100ms for 2.5 secs. Especially when she is needed to waveclear.

The only CDR item she builds is Essence Reaver, but that alone won't get you over the 40% cap. So she's not getting any AD from that rune, just another 10% CDR.

I think you are referring to Transendence and not celerity

That's absolute garbage. I don't even run Sorcery on Morgana. she pairs far better with Electrocute than any sorcery runes and going Precision > Triumph/Legend:Tenacity is far greater as a secondary.

Karma NEVER has mana problems either.

Morgana could use Nimbus to lock down ults so people cannot run. That's legit.

Karma would use Nimbus. Rakan already moves fast enough.

My guess are these champs on Nimbus Cloud:

Zed Yasuo XinZhao MonkeyKing Volibear Viktor Vi Vayne Tryndamere Trundle Talon Taric Swain Riven Shaco Shyvana Pantheon Olaf Morgana Leblanc Karma Irelia Fizz Fiora Evelynn Darius Cassiopeia Akali Ahri

Most of them gain a status of "You cannot disengage me whatsoever" with this rune, and it pairs well with their ults.

Tryndamere for example is already in combat when he ults, meaning a 2 sec 100 move speed boost amped by % move speed items in his build = You can't run from him at all.

Akali will literally have periods where she cannot me run from or counterplayed.

Talon can use the extra move speed to cross more distance, and narrow his dagger's trajectory, so that more hit targets. also allows him to get to walls quicker.

Darius can turn his Ult into a reset more often.

  1. omfg yes he can after the vanish is off. Part of the entire shtick of Zed's ult is to auto attack his target to help secure the kill.

  2. PASSIVE: Casting your ultimate ability, after a 1.5-second delay, grants Ghost ghosting and 100 bonus movement speed for 2.5 seconds. The movement speed decays over the last 1 second.

Aka.... it's active AFTER Yasuo ults.

  1. No he fin doesn't. He uses ult to isolate one target and stick to them. The very way his ult is built is to STAY in a fight, as auto attacking keeps it from deactivating.

  2. Secondaries?

  3. Once again..... Nimbus has a 1.5 Second Delay.....

  4. Omfg you actually think Tryn needs Resolve?

  5. Omfg I main Morgana. Just .... NO. Zhonya's is for bad Morganas or Assassin games. It is NOT for her Ult. Zhonya's anchors you and prevents you from guaranteeing people get hit by the second tick. Almost 70% of of Zhonya'd Morg ults fail to do anything but give her opponents easy post Ult skill shots.

  6. Once again..... 1.5 second delay.

  7. What are you even on? Part of Fizz's entire combo is to hit R, and then run at the slowed target and Trickster combo them to guarantee/finish the kill.

Another Morg main here! At least in low elo, that is... of mixed truth value. It's usually better if you can avoid Zhonya's, and it's certainly not a rush item, but it's still useful in mid-late depending on the situation. One of the really strong parts of Morg's ult is that even if it doesn't land the second tick, it still slows people + forces them to scatter. That's part of why it's such a good teamfight engage. I think the scattering effect is badly underestimated, and idk why - it gives your team a great chance at picks right at the start of the fight, as suddenly the entirely enemy team is completely out of position.

It's much better to avoid using Zhonya's if you safely can (diving and immediately using it is really dumb unless they have some sort of untelegraphed burst or they have CC + your E is down), but it can be good to have depending on the game. It's not mandatory like it used to be, but it is still a legitimately good item. She's a squishy champ with a big, flashy PBAoE ult that makes her keep enemies close to her for a long time. That's a dangerous way to live your life, and Zhonya's helps a lot. That said, especially with Stopwatch being a thing, people who still insist on Morg rushing it really probably haven't played Morg enough to be okay at her since season 5 or 6.

Azadethe1 votes

This post is constructive enough that I won't even try to rip it apart (rare right?)

I would like to add though.... that unless there's an execute assassin in play, I generally don't take Zhonyas. A support Morg just can't afford it often and be viable, and it puts her behind on building CDR.

I'm finding move speed and focusing on Q is far better than risking ult dives. Ults are usually better early game, or if you have some tank items.

One of my favorite compromises on Morg right now is item 3311 item 3174 item 3905 , and now item 2065 (since it now feeds 20 more AP into Athene's...... making it a 80 AP item).

That fills out the CDR, substantial AP, move speed, and can add a tank item if needed later, or item 3116 /item 3165

There's just so many ways to build morg, and I think the best ones have nothing to do with her ult. Ult is basically an Electrocute Trigger for me... to Q > W > R = they're dead because Electrocute just makes that last 60% of their HP disappear when the First R tick hits. I try to hit 2 others with ult when I can, so when the person who I'm trying to kill dies, I have a couple other targets tethered, which means I have an opportunity to set up a second kill on a post Ult Q. They simply can't run from me. And if Electrocute doesn't kill them, they are a tank. Which means they can't do enough damage to kill me.

Ofc.... a rare game here or there needs defensive play, and then move speed is helpful too, but tanky probably moreso, so I scale back the move speed items and pick up items like item 3157 or item 3110 .

I don't feel like Morg is a carry anymore.... too many ways to prevent her sustained damage now. That's why I rarely buy aitem 3089 . I will occasionally buy a item 3135 just to help her W get through Second Wind tanks better.

Ofc, I do get stuck playing her support more than Mid. as a Mid I might just go mage.

But even then... I'm finding the ever present Bot goes mid paradox occurs and then mid/late game I'm fighting with an adc and Relic support for CS, which sucks for Morg's W.

I remember the days where I could just 24/4/16 in a game with a Smurfing Draven who ends like 22/6/18, and all his deaths are me..... fun having games basically turn into 1v1's with 8 ants to squash.

Electrocute is thoroughly broken. I can Electrocute main with Sorcery Secondary with Transcendence, and totally troll a team with Morg building item 3311 item 3050 item 3065 item 3110 etc and do just as much damage as an AP build, because the CDR gives me free AP, and the tankiness just carries vs carries. It's wierd to have a full tank morg kill a 2-3 item adc without resistance.... fun fun.

Morgan le Fey1 votes

Oooh, that version of tank-ish Morg is neat. I'll have to play it to see how much I like it, but in theory it could be pretty amazing. idk about Electrocute into all lanes, though - I'd rather have meteor vs kill lanes so I can use my fairly consistent Qs to poke them down harder. The damage on Electrocute is a lot, though, and esp with the new rune changes this patch that seems pretty fun.

Yeah, the carry thing fell off pretty hard. Even in TT, where until this past April or so I was able to carry to the point that I couldn't really play anyone else there (since Morg MMR was >>> all other MMR), I'm now having more trouble getting that same level of damage.

Post-laning farming is pain. Her infinite push just doesn't stand up in the modern world of rapid waveclear. So that sucks.

Azadethe1 votes

You know there's something wrong when even Pyke can waveclear faster than Morgana ;)

Morgan le Fey1 votes

I mean, if you snowball and inexplicably rush item 3151 you can match some other mages... until 20 minutes or so.

Uhhh, why would nimbus cloak be good on Karma? It has a high cooldown compared to Karma's short cooldown ult. Also, your statement about Karma never having mana problems is literally because people take mana flow band to help her getting through early laning phase, what would nimbus do? Also, Aery is better than Electrocute on Morgana. With pool being spammable + manaflow band you can harass and cut waves to get easier binds. Don't know why you say it is garbage, even though it like what majority of the people actually take on Morgana.

The cooldown on Nimbus does go down with how much CDR you have (unless I'm mixing it up with Ultimate hunter). Karma likes having max cdr, but I'm pretty sure she'd only take Nimbus in a solo lane. Even then taking Nimbus over Manaflow band might be a bit iffy because she kind of needs to throw out multiple q's to keep up with how fast other mages clear minions compared to her.

Azadethe1 votes

Karma doesn't have mana issues, and Nimbus's strongest component is it GHOSTS. aka..... the user can walk through minions. That's Karma's biggest weakness: minion block.

With R > W, she can now walk directly through a way (assuming the single target minion aggro isn't enough to bother her), and kill opponents behind their own minions. And she can do this pre level 6. Which means once she has level 2-3, Ignite, etc, she can literally back line a lane dominant engage if someone is bad enough to stay in lane at ~ 40% HP.

Ghosting is one of the most OP abilities in the game, and it's why Draven is so dangerous. He can relentlessly chase you through minions, and reset it forever, if he keeps picking up axes. It's core to Udyr 's kit and is the only reason he can even pseudo exist in the current game's form, as a no dash no non self skill champ. It's why Janna is perennially performing.

It's a small part of why Yasuo is so damn annoying, and he rushes item 3046

NIMBUS CLOAK Shortly after casting your Ultimate, gain 100 movement speed, decaying over the next 2.5 seconds LIKE THE WIND For the duration of the movement speed increase, you can pass through units COOLDOWN 60 seconds **COOLDOWN REDUCTION Unlike other runes, Nimbus Cloak's cooldown is affected by cooldown reduction **

It also ghosts you so you can pass through minions. Aka..... Karma will be able to R to prime Mantra...... and then walk through a minion wave to her real target. That's Karma's Primary weakness. getting around minions.

on 40% CDR, Nimbus has a 36 second cooldown. You can get it down to 33 seconds with Sorcery/Inspiration.

Aery is garbage on Morgana. It will only hit once per W, and Morg is a long range mage unless she's ulting.

You might stack substantial damage on Comet/Aery, but it's almost all USELESS damage. 3000 damage that doesn't ever land a kill is far weaker than 1500 damage that obtains 10 more kills, especially on morgana whose W can actually heal resolve based champs.

Morg has no mana issues, so I dunno why you'd ever push Manaflow Band lol.

You have no idea how many times I've killed an adc with an auto attack because my kit was on a cooldown from killing their support, only for the adc to think they had a free kill, for my Electrocute to smack 300 hp off the ADC. Aery can't do that.

Obviously our games are different, that fact that you can push as Karma, no hard CC, literally pokes in lane, why wouldn't mana flow band be better than nimbus? You get 100 MS to land RQ or even W? You can easily do that with E.

Your Morgana argument just shows that you care for kills lol. Why would you say Aery is garbage on Morgana and "USELESS" damage if Aery + Scorch is so good ? ADC should't be taking resolve bot, its not as impactful as sorcery second. So your resolve point about healing is just situational to those who think resolve second on ADC is good , Morgana W is literally useless out of lane and shouldn't even be maxed second over E. With the Aery + Scorch mana flow band aids in poking with W and helping you push the lane to help land binds and get priority in lane. Also, mana flow band isn't just about mana issues though, if you proc your mana flow band and enemy champ (if they have mana flow band) doesn't then you automatically win that trade you get more mana.

Obviously you are entitled to play with runes however you please, I just think there are better alternatives. Nimbus Cloak is too one dimension and doesn't really fit supports in my opinion, especially Morgana and Karma. Morgana R already applies a slow and Nimbus Cloak is just over kill.

I never ever run out of mana on EITHER of them. If you do, you're skilling too much. They both have higher mana regen bases than other mages.

And 100 ms (multiplied by % gains to move speed...... aka her E.....) is huge. It means the difference between a 518 Move speed and a 600 move speed or higher, which is the difference between keeping up with other players and surpassing them.

And again.... IT GHOSTS.

  1. I do not care about kills. I care about winning fights, lanes, objectives. Maybe you don't realize it, but kills secured for a team = a few seconds you can do something to improve objectives..... take a turret..... Drakes.... Baron..... Inhibitor.

I don't necessarily care about myself getting a kill, but I do care about my team doing it. It's better to get kills and not die than to give kills.

If you are bot lane especially, Comet and Aery rarely win lanes. Life steal..... Fleet footwork, support heals.... eliminate it all. You can't heal out of a ~900 HP explosive hit (morg's Ult hit + Electrocute)

And games are NOT all about lane . And some SUPPORTS do indeed carry resolve vs Morgana.

When I adc vs a Xerath or Brand , I absolutely go Resolve, not secondary, but PRIMARY (mainly on Jinx ) and choose an adc with a long range. It's the best counter to those mage lanes...... healing out of their persistent or DOT damage. And I generall go 10/1 or so doing it.

I do not NEED more mana on Karma or Morgana.

I never said running out of mana was an issue? You should be pushing out Morgana W when mana flow is up to stack it and deal damage. I think you are way too deep in your argument to see that people take Aery + Mana Flow Band because it is more reliable than electrocute. I'm NOT saying what you are doing is wrong, I just don't like why you would say Aery and Mana Flow Band are garbage considering that is literally what everyone is taking. Also, for some reason you just continue to regurgitate what you've said before in your previous comment so you actually didn't expand to anything I put out.

Going resolve second has become the norm for supports bot lane not just vs Morgana, It helps supports play more risky while poking or all in because of everyone just doing high damage all around. While you may go resolve secondary on ADC, others do not, it's just what you believe.

I'm not telling you how to play the game at all, But for some reason you've become rally attached to this set up and you felt the need to retort to calling everything garbage and that it okay, you are allowed to play the game, however you like. There is too many factors playing within this conversation; skill level, knowledge of the game, influences etc. Maybe you are wrong and I am right or vice versa. Maybe we are both right or wrong. I'm just saying what I play or what I've seen other players do.

EkyonKun1 votes

Heres the issue with Annie taking Nimbus cloak. Nimbus has about a 1 second delay on it before you get the move speed after ulting. So basically, you only get move speed AFTER dishing out your whole kit. Sure this could have SOME niche uses, but most of the time I'd rather just have infinite mana with manaflow band. It's a lot more useful on average if you want to skip out on mana items.

softest boy1 votes

It’s great on Syndra . Use your ultimate on a squishy target and then have the movement speed to escape. Or the movement speed to follow up. CDR is a core stat on her, so the cooldown is lower. Also, she can cast her abilities while moving, so you won’t be locked in ability sequences and can enjoy the full duration.

No, it's just one quick, small boost after the first ult, then it goes on cooldown. And you will likely spend a good bit of the duration of that boost casting your E and Q. So basically, it's useless on Ahri, and also on pretty much everyone with how shit that boost really is.

Azadethe1 votes

Actually it's a 2 second burst after a 1.5 second DELAY. In other words...... it takes up 3.5 seconds of your potential ult time.

It will be a burst that aligns with the second cast, not the first, and her ult is used more often for dodging and escaping than for going in. It's a Go in tool too, but it's not about damage. It's about crossing distances.

I know, but majority of people think it is due to limitations some mages have with options of paths. Plus it's called 'Sorcery'. :-P

The rune itself is more of an engage rune for those who press R before the fight, it could work on Renekton, Morgana, a heck load of assassins but not many mages who are too busy casting abilities or stationary when they cast their ult.

I wonder if it procs with Heimer's R cast even if he doesn't use it...

icertainly support nimbus cloak, it's a high value rune for plenty of champs. Hail of Blades however will either break some champs like vayne or XIn, or it will be so undertuned that no one will really bother takeing it, especially since it has poor synergie with AA-resets while nearly all potential users have AA resets.
