Remember, support isn't hard.
You just need a little more thinking, and less mechanics.
You may not have to last hit AND dodge at the same damn time, but instead of having just one job (such as dealing damage), you've got a handful of them. May it be peeling, spoonfeeding your teammates, warding, tanking, baiting AND getting out alive, and of course, providing CC.
Or if you ARE getting Relic Shield, trying to last hit comes to mind, so sometimes supports still have to last hit. And on the right minions, too. What about when it's times where the adc is not present? Can't let all that good CS go to waste, right? It's not mandatory, but rewarding if you can pull it off.
As a tank support, you don't simply go in when it's at the wrong time where you can be in a middle of a 1v5. As a poke support, you gotta know how to control your poke patterns and get out alive, and not get free enemy jungler camps all day. As a peeler, you still gotta think on how to peel, because you could be wasting a spell where an even harsher gank rolls in 5 seconds later.
Sometimes you are the potato peeler, sometimes you need to take care of the frontlines. It's your own judgment of what you should be doing depending on situation, anytime in the game.
One does not simply plop a ward and clear them under the penalties of getting caught by anything. And getting out alive.
Heck, some supports don't just involve pressing 3 buttons in an orderly fashion. Some supports work AROUND how enemies mash buttons, which requires more thinking other than just shoot the crap out of them.
You wonder why bad supports f**king up creates bigger problems than bad adcs causing trouble, especially in low elo?
You don't necessarily need extreme game knowledge (like junglers do), but enough so that you gotta think on what to do.
You think other carries are important? Naw, man you are just as important, as everyone else on the team. Where are all the peels your team needs when you're gone? Instead of going kamikaze mode willy-nilly, you need to think about how to stay alive because as much as they like to claim that you get carried.... naw man, they can't live without you.
Your skillshots are usually just as important as those of your teammates. Heck, a lot more important especially if they're lockdown CC. You miss one, you better stay away from trouble or else you're screwed. You land one, you still need to think whether if it's a good time to go in.
So, we know it's not the hardest thing because you don't need extreme mechanics (cough ADCs). But hey, it's not the easiest thing either because it's a role where you have to actually think before you even do anything, instead of just doing only one job.
Anything I missed?
