you must be high elo

Yes, sometimes I really click with my ADC and it's amazing. I always forget to send those great ADC's a friend request and when I get to my next game to be matched with Captain Potato, I feel a deep sadness....

I upvoted because "Captain Potato"

Love my Zyra support.

trexmixG3 votes

literally play annie and carry every game

Space Bum2 votes

I used to roll annie but she is rough when put up against a poke comp. I do like playing her as a tank in top lane though :P

Except for the fact that Annie is outclassed by way to many mid laners now :P

SpellFlinger5 votes

i thought it was pretty obvious he meant annie support.... you know, because this ENTIRE THREAD IS ABOUT SUPPORTS.

trexmixG2 votes

thats not even true, anyway. Annie can carry from mid too.

Or play Jinx support and laugh as you read the text you should go full AD to replace the ADC. I play it for the fun of it only in Teambuilder.

Hey there, support main here, just wanted to give a little advice if that's sort of the point of this. I've had a bunch of experience with stuff like this, as well as playing with extremely good AD's who will carry you without much effort on your part. I think that the most important thing to do in this situation is to truly know your part on the team. No, I don't mean sitting in the bush and making sure your AD doesn't die every time they walk into lane. I mean roaming. Don't be afraid to leave your AD alone, you being there probably won't help anyway, in fact, they'll probably try playing safer if you're not there. It's more important to figure out who on your team is actually a competent player and trying to snowball them as much as possible. Your job is to support the most likely carry for your team, and if its not the carry in the botlane, then it's the one in mid (and if it's not him, then you're probably screwed). Of course, there's more to it than that, but I just wanted to mention you shouldn't be afraid to leave the useless member alone to help an important one.

DeynaTaggerung1 votes

If all you're doing in bot lane is sitting in a bush and saving your adc then you're not playing support right. It's also important to poke and set up plays for you adc/jungler/ganking mid laner

PBnJelly1 votes

Yeah exactly, a lot of people don't realize that there's a lot more to supporting than just holding the ADC's hand for the first 20 minutes of the game.

missinggrave2 votes

Wants to roam

Feels strong obligation to babysit ADC who isn't doing that great

Gets stuck somewhere in the middle of river walking back and forth

PBnJelly1 votes

Yeah, I used to actually do that. I still do sometimes, although not because of the need to babysit the AD, but because mid doesn't look gankable, then as soon as I take 2 steps away my mid is pushed into their turret, then I walk towards mid and suddenly the enemy mid is gone again. As Thresh I spend 75% of my time outside of botlane after level 3-4.

missinggrave4 votes

I'd like to mention my favorite supports are Nunu and Lulu.

I am playing a child.

Taking care of people who I consider small children.

I main support and personally, it is true. The ADC gets all the kills and all you do is get blamed. People don't realize that the ADC deals the DPS, but mostly in laning phase it is us supports making the initiations and guaranteeing the kill for our ADC. People don't acknowledge our presence as a useful person on the team. So guys, stick to........................................... DUO QUEUE!

Sometimes when I play support its just a game of me playing support

BrutalCabbage3 votes

And sometimes when I play ADC I can't help but think my Leona is seriously blind (actually that's pretty funny, I see a lot of Leonas constantly engaging no matter what's happening/where the ADC is and that's a good laugh), watch as my Blitz camps a bush and snipe hooks (pretty much always failing), watch my Thresh act as if he was a Blitzcrank and the list goes on. Before you blame the ADC, think about your own mistakes. I've seen countless garbage support mains try to have their very own fault fall onto the ADC. That's disgusting, if you ask me.

I don't play botlane much, but fact is you find equally awful Supports and ADCs and people need to stop thinking their role is better than the other. This is true for every role, actually. It's pretty much as bad as blaming the jungler if you are a solo laner: what I mean is that it's really never the other player's fault, unless he/she dives for no reason and dies. And trust me, both ADCs and Supports do it. A lot.

Taryn3 votes

This is very true. I main support and I know that I depend on my ADC (and team in general) just as much as they depend on me. Playing support doesn't innately make anyone a better/smarter player and it gets tiring seeing this constant "support vs ADC" mentality, when really they are the two that should have the most respect for each other during a game.

After a match I always tell my ADC that it was a pleasure playing with them. Regardless if it was a win or a loss, and regardless of my opinions on choices they made (or even their opinion of choices I made) we still had to work together and that deserves some common courtesy.

Spacesuit Spiff2 votes

Yeah, supporting outside of high elo is more about making sure your adc gets fed and then praying they can position for shit in teamfights. Helps if you can snowball yourself too. Don't try to copy the pro picks, just go Annie (nobody respects the bear) or something similar. The key is to win lane 1v2 regardless of your adc's skill (before duo restrictions I had to support a silver adc in a plat game and managed to keep it even for a while even though he missed almost half the cs for no reason, that's the kind of play it takes to consistently win as support in soloq).

Stonington2 votes

I just told my adc laning with him was truly a Kafkaesque experience. Then I assured him it was a compliment.

I'm not even offended. XD

First, Acquire Squid.

Second. Build sightstone and frost queens.

Third. Do most damage anyway.

ccseancc1432 votes

Nah

Step 1: Take full armor pen runes Step 2: Play Talon Step 3: Wait till 6 Step 4: 1v2 the enemy carry and support with 5 cs and 3 long swords Step 5: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

DeynaTaggerung1 votes

approx 16 cs=1 kill hence if the enemy adc is farming right and has around 50cs by lvl 6 then they're still up in gold over you...

ccseancc1431 votes

Doesn't matter if they are ahead cuz Talon can literally shred any adc lvl 6 1v1.

ImHerVoice2 votes

lmfao Amen

It only starts to improve around 2.4kmmr trust me Then the special needs kids kill eachother over and over and something happens before 10 minutes maybe

Haters... I'm at 13W 2L with GP support.

GP Support is awesome, plus fun to play. How many times does half your team go "gg we lose this kid picked GP support" in team select? That's the worst part about playing stuff like that.

If you think GP is good, try Nautilus. King of hook supports.

Space Bum2 votes

I play a lot of team builder. So, I normally just catch the tail end of them discussing there concerns about GP support. But they don't want to wait 10min for another support so they are pretty nice to me once I'm in. 50% think I want to take farm and kills.

I like Naut. Used to roll him jungle but his jungle is a little rough sense the update. Might need to bring him bot.

Got to gold last season playing only Naut jungle and sup. He's like a more soloq-oriented Thresh in that his early damage/shield is enough to trade 1v2, and you don't need to get cancer every time people ignore your lantern. Scales well, but if you get behind you're boned.

AccountaBilabudy2 votes

just play kill lane supports so that even a retard ADC can get fed. Gangplank, Nautilus, Pantheon, Xin, Volibear, etc

Space Bum2 votes

Thought I might share my most recent experience. Me as support GP with Varus as ADC. Laning phase we start with a lead. I roam mid twice and pull off successful Ganks. Both times I am watching bot on the mini map and see Varus looking a little too close to a comp that has a blitz (a blitz that pulled creeps on every pull I saw, when in lane.) ultimately getting pulled and dying both times. All because I was not there to set the bar for distance that worked flawlessly till I stepped away.

LululuCawCaw2 votes

Everytime i play top lane i feel like i'm babysitting special needs team.

How that sounds?

I hate egoistic support players.

missinggrave1 votes

Top Lane: Why are people dying so much?

Jungle: Why is everyone pinging so much?

Mid: Why are people failing to pushing so much?

ADC: Why are people's farm behind by so much?

Support: Why does everyone expect so much?

Hexakill Player: Why does my laning partner hate me so much?

Poro King: blank stare
