Ranked is more toxic than a nuclear waste dump?

I've noticed that almost any and all toxic players I meet are in Ranked. Norms will go pretty smoothly almost always, but whenever I decide to try out the wild side of League and jump into Ranked, I'm met with a barrage of toxicity and hatred unlike anything else.

The social environment of Ranked games is so severe that I don't even want to bother with it. I'd love to challenge myself against stronger opponents but it's not worth the stress of angry, non-communicating teams. I'm Silver III, so I'm right smack dab in the epicenter of the average playerbase in ranked. Is this just the reality of Ranked games or am I just unlucky?

well.. there's toxic, and there's gamekilling. neither is fun.

Personally, I hate even more the "hey, it's not ranked, so I'm going to do this thing that will completely screw the team over, nyah nyah" attitude. You can mute talk. You cant mute stupid behaviour.

people obsess over their rank and because of that everyone is just a death away from being toxic. Just mute em, literally instantly the moment they come off as toxic. When you're winning you can usually unmute.

It gets less bad at higher elo. It's another incentive to improve since silvers are usually salty since no one thinks they belong there. I usually try to work wiht people but if they show reluctance I'll just mute them and play my game.
