Haven't had the pleasure of laning against Comet Sion till today
By far the least fun experience I've ever had. Not just in LoL, but in gaming in general, and I've played some shitty games.
Guess he's the new go-to ban for me after today.

It was even more fun last week when his E was virtually impossible to dodge.

It's a skill shot you can sidestep them and he uses the minion to boot so you can avoid it by walking perpendicular to the minions It's not that hard
Then again i have mained him since his rework and people are still too dumb to sidestep the skill shot

Eh, I think the Old AP sion was even worse. Sheild, stun nuke walk off, repeate. managed to damage him? R for health. One of my least favorite metas to this day.

I don't find Sion particularly hard to deal with if I run Second Wind/Revitalize + Doran's shield. The pure sustain you get from that combo takes the edge off his E poke in a big way. Also champs with in-kit sustain or shielding like Vlad, Aatrox, Garen, Urgot, and Nasus are resilient enough to nearly ignore his poke. Hope I was able to help in some way; I know Sion can be really annoying but he isn't unstoppable.
Comet is awfully designed rune, you auto-win lane if you one of champions who use it.
I finally got to fight one again after the e bug fix. Lane is much better. He can still be a pain if you don't dodge enough e's, but atleast you can actually dodge them now. With the bug, it was nearly a free hit every time it felt.
Was he queueing as Support, by any chance? Because Support Sion has been in a pretty absurd spot for quite a while--feels awful to play against. I feel ya, OP.

Agree with you right there. I always lose against Comet Sion as all he'll need to do is land one E and you can't even trade back because of his innate tankiness and W, and landing his E is hilariously easy.
I'd rather face comet Sion over glacial augment sion personally.
Ever fight a Phase Rush Gnar with Frozen Mallet, Phantom Dancer, Boots of Swiftness, Blade of the Ruined King and Infinity Edge? With 3 Wind drakes and elder drag? You lose your sanity very fast. And this was on pbe so wind drake is even faster...
I laned against one before the patch and it didn't seem so bad. Now granted it was in a normals game and I don't think the player knew how to abuse the strat- they probably ran comet because op.gg/champion.gg recommended it. Personally as a Sion player myself I only trust in grasp of the undying to survive the laning phase since it really helps with trades.
But in terms of existing lane cancer, I've been facing a bunch of people using a new "cancer janna" strategy of max W in lane, then just spam W on people. You move so fast because of the passive movespeed gain that you are untouchable. The W is targeted so it always triggers aery/scorch and you never run out because of manaflow brand. Actual cancer. This is like lane nunu levels of cancer except it's in the botlane.
Also faced a zilean that actually does E>Q>W>Q. Somehow this eats at most like 20% of max mana pool at all stages of the game which feels awful to lane against.
for me it was assassin wukong mid a couple days ago. ive done it many times myself but i havent played against it in ages and when i did it was top lane and wow there was no joke nothing i could do. 100-0 me with an e q rav by stealthing in from the FoW. i myself have done it in aram a lot recently and ive been able to 2 shot people with an e q with nothing but duskblade and rav.
