For everyone complaining about the new "Solo Queue" with premades:

Squidblimp··9 votes·2,136 views

A few red posts on Reddit confirmed that basically, if you're in a 5-man premade, you will be 95% likely to get matched with another 5-man premade. If you're a 4-man with 1 extra guy, you'll get matched with another 4-man with 1 extra guy. In the 5% off chance that you don't, then it will still be pretty even: for example, 4-man with 1 extra guy matched against a 3-man with 2 extra guys.

ALSO! Riot has also stated that you WILL NOT be able to queue with anyone who isn't very close to your DIVISION. Yes, Division, like I II III IV V, NOT Gold, Silver, Bronze, etc. So, you will NOT be able to be carried to a higher rank by a higher ranking player unless they are smurfing.

I hope that clears a few things up.

That doesn't help the issue. Solo players will routinely get queued up against 2-3-4 stacks with the new system. The only protection is against 5 man stacks

And they'll be teamed up with 2-3-4 stacks to compensate.

Or they may not be... maybe they don't even know each other but have got acquainted via yoloQ ... who knows, it's random.

Oh and btw, people will start to smurf more since why play normals with their low elo friends when you can just play Ranked instead.

You are completely missing the point. The point is is that if you que up solo, you are at a massive disadvantage. You lose some of your own carrying potential and are forced to place the outcome of the match more onto factors you have no control over (aka the premade team). I'm ot sure if you have ever been paired up with a 4 man premade in norms, but it is an absolutely miserable experience. They say nothing in chat, all your suggestions get completely ignored, you get ignored in general in lane, they will gang up on you if they decide they don't like you. Your voice and opinion means nothing

I've never had a problem with 4 man premades, or even 3 man premades. I have had a problem with some 2 man premades, but by the nature of them they are easier to come by and thus should have a higher cancer rate anyway.

Squidblimp1 votes

Nope. Not what Riot said.

Vistha Kai1 votes

So tell me, White Knight, when a team consists of 5 people and 4 of them are a premade what happens with the 5th person?

Squidblimp1 votes

You get pitted against another team with 4 man premade and 1 solo. It's fair. Also, I'd rather the rest of my team was on the same page than all strangers, since at least some people can work together.

Vistha Kai1 votes

Toxicity-inducing thinking.

So say, 3 people are having fun and communicating just fine and 2 people are left on their own, basically without a team.

How can you say "it's fine"?

YCitizenSnipsY6 votes

Riots statistics are basically memes, remember when the Gragas bug was "one in a million" yeah I wouldn't take that "95%" thing to heart.

Also not being able to queue with people from a lower division is the reason smurfs exsist. so now teams that mostly consist of smurfs playing together will probably be alot more common. I don't see how this hurts elo boosting at all, it basically seems to make it easier. Riot doing XWX's work.

someone has lots of friends he wants to play with, but let me ask, why ranked? and why do you just have to play with 2 or 3 instead of ranked teams?

why would you knowingly play with some stranger who more than likely would be appalled and would dodge on the spot if he knew he was in someone elses pregroup?

Squidblimp3 votes

Well, sometimes you can't always get the SAME group of people all together at the same time to play Ranked Teams. Sometimes, you have maybe 10 friends or so that you like to play with, and whenever you're on, you could play with whoever was on, and have people you know and trust playing by your side.

Also, why would you dodge if you were in someone's premade...? They'd all be the same rank as you, it's not like normals where a premade has like 1 Diamond player and 3 Bronze players, and then you're the Gold stuck in the middle. They'd all be Gold, and within a Division or 2 of you.

idc what rank you are, i care that you all tell eachother everything over skype and i get left out, i despise that you people ping less, and make in group decisions and always forget to include the odd man out.

dont you dare, support "but were different, we would include you, we would ping" IT HAS NEVER, panned out whenever i was on a pregroup team, and dont you dare say "but i wouldn't".

ive played on countless pregroup'd teams, and its always the following - you auto lock champs/roles, you do different/obscure builds, you dont ping at all ever, you dont ward, you play significantly worse than the average player im with (if you are pregrouped your MMR RISES, believe it or not, you play against tougher opponents!) you're more likely to ignore the 5th person outright and mute them for speaking at all, you all flame, everyone, all the time, you dont mean it to your friends, but hell, im not your friend. (not all at once, sometimes multiples, sometimes you're just "drunk/high af")

once again. it NEVER pans out when you pregroup. i wish you would keep a list of all the times you pregroup, and just kept a simple log of your wins/losses when you pregroup, i can almost guarantee which is higher.

just dont, really, just dont.

this is really close-minded, to assume all premades are like those that you have encountered. That is how racism started... Just saying i have encountered far more toxic solo people than duo's. Also no one pings or communicates (other than insults) anyways! So its not really all that different, the only reason you guys dislike this change is because you want something to complain about.

the proof is in the pudding, right off the bat, you want to play with your friends, and do what you want do. guess what, that's a selfish thing, not only have you increased your teams MMR, and now we have to go against tougher opponents. then there's the huuuuuge communication discrepancy.

i seriously dont understand why you dont think thats a problem.

you're saying "well its ok because the other team will be the same now too" yes and no, its the average of the groupand then plus some extra due to group compensation, theres still variation amongst each individual member, and it only considers their current rank, not their MMR, thats plenty of room for huge gaps in skill.

IE you and your friend, silver 1 MMR of 1450, he could be in promos and have as high as 1500+, you are silver 2, literal bottom, say 1380, and probably dropping. now both of your averages comes to around 1440, now lets add in the extra MMR, and the teams average comes to 1550, guess what, thats gold 5~gold 4, you're silver 2 playing 3 full rank ups. where you dont belong, if you belonged there you'd be there, but you dont and now have to play against them.

but the 3 solo members are all rated around 1500 more or less, their average just has to be around 1440 ish, so someone as high as 1600 even in some cases could end up laning against that 1380 member on your team.

now theres the enemy teams duo, guess which member of the enemy team gets to lane against the 1380player.... thats right, the one whos technically better than you, the up to 1600player, will capitalize on your mistakes and snowball.

MattZeeX3 votes

And the enemy team has a premade who faces the exact same MMR raising issue... Nothing matters because it's mirrored on both sides so it's redundant!

Very Hard Engage3 votes

{quoted}

And the enemy team has a premade who faces the exact same MMR raising issue... Nothing matters because it's mirrored on both sides so it's redundant!

i just explained the maximum swing, your averages could both be 1440, but when a 1600 goes up against a 1380, fun times will ensue.

your 1440 average is increased, due to the duo queue compensation. now the average swing of THAT new MMR value, the high and the low end, you could realistically have your 1380member, laning against a 1550~1600member.

thats huge, that matters, but hey, you're having fun with your friend, so i guess that makes it ok for the rest of us to be dragged down by basically a 4v5 on numerous occasions.

Stephenizgod1 votes

ooook but it swings both ways right? Mid lane has MMR of 1300 and enemy has 1600. Obvious who will win... Top lane has MMR of 1600 enemy has 1300 MMR. It seems like they evened out now its the Top laners job to cancel out the mid laners and vice versa. back to equal. Now the only issue i can see is if Mid lane is 1300 and enemy is 1600 but Bot lane ADC has 1600 and supp has 1400, enemy has 1300 adc and 1400 supp. A fed ADC can carry harder then a fed mid laner, i mean its all dependent on the situation and personal skill but generally Marksmen are better at carrying. Thats just how Ranked works in general though, you get it all the time one person is totally outclassed by his opponent. This happens without duo's as well as with Duo's... PLUS! The new system is removing the premade MMR compensation so that double invalidates your complaint.

i don't see where your problem is... 95% of the time premades will be matched against premades, if their MMR forces you to face a higher skilled opponent you are just going to need to rely on your teammates or get better as the game progresses. I have faced many people that were better than me, the games i lose are the ones where i didn't adapt my strategy, the games i win are the ones where i adapt and ask for help against them.

Squidblimp1 votes

Agreed. People seem to be shitting on all premades and calling them assholes. I can only assume that these people don't have any friends or something, and are salty that others have good friends to play with, haha.

For real though, I imagine only a small percentage of premades are horrible people. Definitely not any more than solo people.

Vistha Kai1 votes

Well first off, why would I not want to play ranked with friends? I enjoy playing this game competitively, and ranked is my favourite gamemode. To me, it is generally more fun than normals because it is more rewarding and poses a challenge. True, normals can be fun with friends when you do derp shit crazy stuff such as five TP top or you get insanely fed because of the rampant skill disparity of normal games, but I (and a lot of friends) prefer ranked to normals.

Why don't we play Ranked teams? Well, you can't queue for Ranked teams unless you have all five players, if you have less, you either play normals or nothing at all. I'd enjoy playing Ranked with friends for the following reasons:

  1. Ranked is more fun than normals.
  2. I want to increase my Solo Queue ranked and playing normals distracts me from this.
  3. I can improve because it's more of a challenge.
  4. I can actually trust my friends to not rage or intentionally feed, or at least to trust me.
  5. We synergise well together, and we can communicate with Skype or something.
  6. It's really hard to get exactly five players, and sometimes we have to find randoms to play with us, and I'm scared that if I do poorly in the game they'll get upset.
  7. Ranked 3s are literally cancer.

Now, I really don't know what all this negative stigma associated with premade groups is. I've been playing League for a while now, and there have always been people on the forums raging about the cancer that is four man queues in normals, and how they ruin the game for the one random player. Now excuse me, but I have never encountered a cancerous four man group, and I have only once had my four man group be cancerous to the random player (not me, of course). If anything, playing with a four man group means that I know my team is more likely to be coordinated, and I'll have a greater chance of winning, I've never run into problems with four man queues.

All in all, I honestly think people need to stop shitting over these Ranked changes, all of my friends and myself love them, and it's going to make it so when I have two or three people who want to duo with me, I won't have to be a dick and pick only one to play with.

One small side note, Ranked 5s are hard as fuck because the MMR is really really poor, we often play with those much higher than us, and it's also rather demotivating to always get placed in Bronze, despite how many games you win.

I'm sorry to burst you bubble bro, but not every player is as naive as you... who only play with people close to your elo. Just you wait, when we higher elo players start helping our lower elo buddies with smurfs and smurffing in general starts to be more rampant than ever, since why not? There is no downside nor incentive to play normal games when you can just hop into a smurf and play ranked.

I hope you and you buddies are prepared. It won't be any different from the current Normals.

MattZeeX1 votes

Oh I've gone against smurfs, it's annoying, but there's basically an equal chance of them being on my team too. Besides, I've learnt to expect I'll have to play against them eventually, it's part of the game. Often you guys won't even be in my game, as Riot's systems recognize you're significantly better than us and places you against harder players. Unless you intentionally tanked your MMR (which is a bannable offense), I won't see much of you (:

The Queen Viper6 votes

Maybe, maybe not... and that's the problem.

There is no reason to add even more randomness and imbalance with these changes than what we already have. There is no win-win scenario here, only downsides. By introducing more random groups to "yoloQ" they are making it more imbalanced and eventually there will be no difference between Ranked and Normals.

Why don't we play Ranked teams? Well, you can't queue for Ranked teams unless you have all five players, if you have less, you either play normals or nothing at all. I'd enjoy playing Ranked with friends for the following reasons:

It's really hard to get exactly five players, and sometimes we have to find randoms to play with us, and I'm scared that if I do poorly in the game they'll get upset. It's really hard to play with a duo already, imagine 3-4-5 man premade. This will also increase unbalance and queue timers by a lot at higher elos. 7. Ranked 3s are literally cancer. Just like premades.

  1. And you can't make a generalisation for everyone. Either way, you can still solo, what are the odds that you always end up with a 4 man queue every game

  2. That's just the game, it's called Solo/Duo Queue, I will refer to it as this way until they rename it. Right now I don't know what it's named on the PBE, AKA the testing grounds where not everything is final.

  3. This is more consistent improvement, as there are less other variable factors.

  4. I trust them more, and I know they'll listen to my advice, and follow up one plays we make. Overall it's better.

  5. Can't if we don't have five people.

  6. The majority of people in this game are not in high elo, it'll work great for everyone else. Knowing Riot they'll have some way to prevent longer queue times for high elo. If I remember correctly, Riot has already announced they have been optimising high elo queues and it will take significantly less time to queue.

  7. You're making an assumption. Someone condemning a bunch of random players just because they queue up together is more likely than not the problem. How do people become cancer suddenly by playing with friends? Clearly Riot with the statistics believes that's not true.

Stephenizgod2 votes

I don't understand all the hate towards this change... I mean its pretty typical of the community to see 5% and immediately think that means 100% will be them all the time. Besides I've played with plenty of Duo's who were nice or very teamwork oriented, the only downside is usually we have that one teammate who is really low MMR against people with really high MMR (sometimes im that low MMR nub >.<). I've played with negative ones too, but i have played with far more negative soloers then duoers.

Yeah, I know. Not everyone wants to lock in Tryndamere every game and splitpush to the ends of the earth. I think that with this new ranked system, we will see a lot less Vayne, Yasuo, Tryndamere and assassins in general, and instead see more team-oriented champions like Lulu, Gnar, Zac, Orianna, etc, because you will actually be able to trust your team to work with you and get the wombo combo going, rather than "1v1 me scrub"ing your way up to Challenger, haha.

Anyway, what rank are you? I could add you. We should play sometime, you seem like a positive-minded person.

It is that way. At ranked team and professional play. Personal skill also matters, at every single game. And you can show it at solo ranked. If you want "teamwork" ( you have teamwork if people are decent on your team, strangers or not ) , you can play ranked team. Normals. Or whatever you want

Stephenizgod1 votes

I didn't mean to imply personal skill didn't matter. I was trying to say the game should be based on your overall Teamwork not your ability to pick a champion and smash your opponents by yourself. This is why i like this new team oriented ranked change, i can show off my personal skill at what im actually good at (like how Pro's tend to only play their role/positions) and also work with my teammates more efficiently to show it off even more. Its possible to have teamwork in Solo Q, i normally win the games my team is working together, but it sucks that a lot of the time its only because one person is clearly better than everyone else.

ALSO! Riot has also stated that you WILL NOT be able to queue without anyone who isn't very close to your DIVISION. Yes, Division, like I II III IV V, NOT Gold, Silver, Bronze, etc. So, you will NOT be able to be carried to a higher rank by a higher ranking player unless they are smurging.

Obviously people WILL smurf even more now, since there will be no incentive to play normal games with lower elo friends anymore when people can just go and play Ranked with them instead.
