Jhin is not really sniper like

HIs auto range is too short, sure he has super long W which doesn't deal a lot of damage, and he has ult which cannot be relied in teamfights like MF ult. And his trap is dealing the damage of a nuclear bomb for some reason I don't understand.

Suggestions: Remove that ridiculous damage on that trap, it's hard to hit I know, that doesn't make it meaningful, either constantly missing or bursting 1000+ magic damage is not balanced or healthy. give it more utility, bigger range, bigger slow, maybe special interactive (Ult can be targeted against trapped opponent etc) Higher auto range or he will remain awkward. A sniper who is forced to put himself into 550 range to deal actual damage? Oh he has slow and snare to protect himself..... but that doesn't make him a sniper, that's called a Jinx.

He's not a sniper, that's Cait you're thinking of. He's a sharpshooter and artist, and so instead of merely shooting repetitively to kill people he sets them up for the perfect kill. You're supposed to surprise them with your trap, use that opportunity to root them with W. You have them rooted in place to set up the second part of your combo, which is the high damage from the trap explosion and the dancing grenade that you chained over to your rooted victim. All of this is set up for the final perfect shot, his 4th bullet execute, which kills them.

Cait and Jinx use their traps to control the battlefield and allow them more time to auto, Jhin uses his traps to deal damage and his few precious autos are used to set up minion waves for dancing grenade bounces, and to get the final execute on his target.

Long auto range wouldn't make him feel like a sniper. A sniper sits in a nest and spends time waiting and lining up for the right shot. Long cooldown abilities with high burst damage feel more like being a sniper than having a long auto range that you use to constantly fire off hits for good sustained damage (like Caitlyn)

If you noticed they already specially made his auto attack focus on burst rather than sustained damage to meet his sniper character.

They would still need to slow his auto down way more than it currently is for him to feel bursty with a longer auto range.

The thing is that they didn't want him to feel too much like caitlyn,so they decided that he won't be a full-time sniper.

However he does have the ability to sort of build his nest and has to plan his shots very carefully, which are elements that fit a sniper very well.

I would have mained Caitlyn if she is a full time sniper. My best ADC right now is Varus and he isn't even meant to be a sniper. I just want a real sniper...

His lore involves him sitting on a watch tower and holding off an army with his bow, being a sniper is clearly part of his lore and gameplay fantasy.

Higher auto range or he will remain awkward. A sniper who is forced to put himself into 550 range to deal actual damage?

Only like, 6 champions in the game have more AA range than 550.

Also - it's worth mentioning auto-attacks are manaless.

When you get past the 550 AA range threshold, you start going into territory where you're giving spell-like qualities and power for free. Lux, Gragas, Ziggs, Xerath, Heimerdinger, Kog'Maw, Jinx, Twitch, etc. all have to pay mana for that range (otherwise it's just 550), so why should Jhin get that range for free? Especially with how potent his abilities are (those tooltips)

Also: Jhin's trap, piercing linear skillshot, and sniper ultimate already give him a lot of similarities with Caitlyn. Having the standard ranged champ 550 range with his pistol aesthetic at least separates the two champions enough to give them different playstyles and pick reasons. Make his pistol shoot in the 600~650 range really encrouches on that, so rather than Jhin being a more caster-heavy/bursty sniper and Cait being a more AA heavy one, Jhin would just be a better pick all around, which would be bad for champion diversity and power creep.

That's related, he's bad because his role is awkward

Since when do snipers even go into close-range combat in the first place? By that logic, you might as well make his auto-attack range as long as his W/Ultimate, because that's what a sniper would do. They would sit back somewhere hidden, and pick off targets.

And you know, just completely remove all possible interaction. Wonderful.
