yasuo is balanced such that he cannot build such things and get away with it, this is why hes getting nerfs

but really the problem is triforce

GrReaper968 votes

His Q third proc has 1000 range and applies triforce and grasp

YumScrumptious965 votes

Also is hard to hit and easy to dodge unless you are very close to him.

GrReaper9613 votes

Its also has a very short cd and the third proc last quite a long time

YumScrumptious962 votes

10 seconds, but depending on the game time it matters and it doesn't. Early game he's most likely maxing E first so 3Q doesn't do much damage, or mid-late when you have multiple escape abilities and usually have enough gold to guarantee the bruiser Yasuo doesn't instantly kill you by getting 3Q and ulting then finishing you off. Either way, its not like it makes you unable to move away from it.

mid-late when you have multiple escape abilities

What are we assuming here? How many champions have multiple escape abilities?

YumScrumptious961 votes

Escape abilities are anything defensive, so basically any ability a champion has in top lane since almost all of them have abilities to keep them alive which means the top lane Yasuo isn't going to be killing you easily, or you can out play him.

Small Tiddies1 votes

with 1 point into Q and SHIV+ZERKERS he gets a 2.5 second cd on his Q. Not to mention he gets 100% crit with 2 items.

YumScrumptious961 votes

1 point in Q means Q does exactly 100-115 damage depending on what items you start, so it isn't very much a problem when his auto's are just as effective, not to mention in late game his Q isn't as damaging as an auto attack, while it can also miss because of its small hitbox. So if you want to talk about Yasuo's power, maybe look into his actual abilities and not cooldowns.

ScissorsNstuff1 votes

against a semi-mobile shield champ I'm not really too concerned about the grasp part.

as for the triforce thing, he is also gated in how often he can actually accomplish this. So again I'm not worried about this as long as he can be pushed away from stack sources.

if he is proccing this too easy they can always make him squishier and make him more shield dependant

GrReaper961 votes

Yeah but with the 'tank' yasuo grasp can be quite painful

General Esdeath 2 votes

Also easy to dodge

BioticBrony9 votes

Not unless he does the dash and Q, which is point and click.

YumScrumptious964 votes

So you let yourself get into his small dash range while he has third Q?

BioticBrony8 votes

I can't help it if I need cs so I can keep up with his lane clear early on.

Narasimha1 votes

If he's clearing that badly just farm under tower. If he wants to E -> Q you there, be happy he does.

YumScrumptious962 votes

If he's pushing wave then you can wait under tower like Narasimha said, you are going to miss a few CS but it won't be a huge amount and he won't be able to kill you and gain an advantage even bigger than some CS.

General Esdeath 1 votes

Then you lose the long range.

Bârd2 votes

His 3rd Q has 900 range. Trinity Force/Grasp of the undying will apply, but only to the first unit hit.

The tornado is rather easy to dodge. It is harder to dodge if he does an E-Q, but you can still flash out of it.

While the ballerina style tornado is much more reliable, it has much shorter range.

The direct range of it is only 475 units, the range of his dash.

If you use an E-Q combo on someone other than you intended target, it is possible to hit people a further 375 units away with the radius (850 total). Doing this shows some decent mastery of your champion.

If you do an E-Q-Flash combo, you can change the location of the attack, theoretically extending the range by the range of your flash; 425 (1275 total range). While this sounds pretty strong, it is also insanely difficult (not to mention unlikely) to pull this off in an actual game.

VivaLaKitten1 votes

Tri Force is fine they need to just leave it alone before it actually does become useless or broken

Naag One3 votes

his "regular" mid lane build has less than 50% win rate

so Yasuo is balanced in a way to always have that poor winrate? He isn't allowed to be good/viable?

Sahn Uzal1 votes

Fervor of Battle is the thing that allows that build to work

kile14712 votes

This is Yasuo, you need to be more specific about which passive.

Zedex6 votes

This isn't a problem with Yasuo, this is a problem with Items. Ekko, Akali, Fiora, and others have all abused it at some point this season. But I do agree this does need some changes, as it completely negates Yasuo's intended weaknesses.

Rain NT1 votes

Riot has nerf all those items already, not big nerfs but nerfs either way, the reason for this is because if they nerf it too much you will never see a tank/bruisers again because their items would be gutted. That being said, the base damage of fiora akali ekko were stupid high that they were able to build these items and still do good damage. If an assassin build these item, they better be doing mediocre damage late game just like any other tank.

Think about if a tank who build these items cant kill your carries fast, why can these assassins who build these items be able to.

Bârd5 votes

That is exactly the opposite of what he needs.

The "Tank Yasuo" builds are toxic as hell (even more so than a normal "Light Carry Yasuo" builds).

Removing his crit passive would make the dumb tank builds the only way to go.

There is a reason why Riot nerfed Tank Fiora/Ekko/Akali (not directly for Akali, but still).

They're nerfing the tank build already.

Also he's melee and needs to get in range for you to nuke him in order to do damage...

Funny how this was just found out recently because any sources i tend to follow or matches i played in, tend to never show a Yasuo being any good less it gets I edge and Statikk Shiv. Thats usually where geek players (or the koreans) tend to want to look or new stuff to do, especially when they got bored with the latest gag one of them came up with via a champion + itemization build or a itemization build that works on alot of champions in one particular role.

Appearently you haven't played recently.... This build has been **meta **for half a month already

Tobias Brackner2 votes

Oh...THE META...

Of course anything that is THE META must be a good build, right?

After all, THE META is absolute, and not just a bandwagon that people hop on and instead of other people gittin gud and learning how to defeat THE META (you know, like how metas actually work) they whine and whine and whine until Rito throws some nerfs around (a lot of which are completely negligible) and so everyone suddenly drops THE META until they remember that nobody learned how to beat THE META and do it again. That or it's inexplicably dropped for no reason because the bandwagon moves to something else and declares it THE META.

That proves nothing bro

Well I guess it proves that alot of people who play Yasuo and win use that build but it doesn't prove that build is the best.

That's like saying pure tank Rek'Sai is the best build just because it's the one that people use the most.

[slayer-jinx-wink]

blkKalameet2 votes

it's the best build because it gives you the highest chance of victory from a mathematical standpoint.

for something to be meta, means for it to be the best current option from likelihood of victory viewed standpoint.

sure, another build may have better chance of winning depending on the opponents. but the meta build has been shown to be effective against a variety of situations.

Tobias Brackner1 votes

it's the best build because it gives you the highest chance of victory from a mathematical standpoint.

And that math would be...?

Because I don't see any math involved.

I see people who don't want to work hard as Yasuo so they build Tank, and then nobody ever learned how to outplay Yasuo so the Tank build works. Same thing with Ekko.

blkKalameet2 votes

the math is that if I play 1000 games with that build and win more than I lose in a significant amount, that build works then. its rather simple.

the tank build on ekko works because he has high base damage, and utility. why they gave that to an assassin is beyond me, but it's there. so he tanks up to put out more damage and use his utility more.

now look at Yasuo. good damage, high mobility, and offers utility with windwall and knock up.
would it be better to go full damage and be burst down in a second? or tank up and be able to survive the burst and whittle the opponent away?

These builds have nothing to do with players skill. it's everything to do with the champion being unbalanced in some way.

Tobias Brackner1 votes

Every build has everything to do with skill, bucko.

This isn't a game where you just throw numbers at a wall and see who comes out on top.

[slayer-jinx-wink]

blkKalameet2 votes

these numbers are from Plat + ranked play. these are people with skill and game knowledge.

so no, skill is a non issue when it comes to determining this answer as the numbers are from a pool of equally skilled players as a reference point.

secondly, even if the person is unskilled that is still the best build statistically speaking for them to build and achieve the best chance of success. because that's how this kind of numbers game works.

Tobias Brackner1 votes

Wow best build statistically speaking? So if someone puts that build on Yasuo and stands on the Fountain for the whole game they still have the same chance of all the other Yasuos who do that build?

Asudurga2 votes

Please don't give these people more ideas...

arc951 votes

the issue is fervor(not Yasuo)... which is being abused by many assassin to build tanky Fizz and Akali are the other two that really abused it....however Fervor is too import to other ad champions to nerf... so they're going nerfing Yasuo's base damage to kill his tank build(becasue he relies on high base stats and fervor to do his damage) which will push him back to his assassin/bruiser playstyle
