I was watching Dyrus the other day and he went on a rant about how the games just not enjoyable anymore (Every streamer does these days). Normally I'd just pass this off as normal complaints, but in that rant he had a really good point - That every popular game right now all has one thing in common and that was the ability to win by yourself.

Today I decided to play some League with my friend, and of course the first game we had someone with 18 deaths... while everyone else on our team averaged 4. In other video games, this wouldn't be a problem, but in League, a single player can spiral a game so out of control that every player might as well be spawning under an AC-130 killstreak. The game can be unwinnable from actions that are completely out of your control and that's anti-fun as a core mechanic. My friend had no desire to continue playing for the day after that negative experience.

Well, good thing League has balanced matchmaking?... Nah, we're going to force 50% win rates and intentionally throw in players that normally wouldn't be in your games... to balance out a player that also shouldn't be in your games rather than matching everyone equally. Players are getting burnt out from this and moving on.

Team play used to work in longer games that required thinking, but as games become shorter its becoming the nail in the coffin.

So if you're a good player you'll get bad players on your team? And if you're a bad player you'll get good teammates? Don't you just get teammates that are approximately the same lvl as yours among the ones available at the moment? I'd like to read the article where they say they force 50% win rates. Because I thought It was different but it'd be good to know.

So wait, I'm confused, you said that this game focuses too heavily on team play, but that the one person was able to snowball and win the game. So which one is it, should one person be able to hard carry or not?

I was implying that in a lot of cases you're only as strong as your weakest link. If one of your players has 10+ deaths, you now have to face someone who might as well be using a golden gun from the mass lead advantage. I was getting that Leagues anti-fun at the core from that - it's more apparent in recent seasons from the mass damage increase.

Yes, players should be able to solo carry, that would work great on an even playing field. To much damage is in the game now that if one player profits off an unevenly matched player it really shines.

So should fed people not be allowed to carry then? Let's say it was on this leveled playing field you were talking about, wouldn't people still have these kinds of complaints?
