Why is Grasp of the Undying reduced for ranged champions?

They can't benefit from it the way tanks can because they are ranged, and there are only a few ranged bruisers (Gnar is the only one I can think of off the top of my head). Grasp of the Undying is even being nerfed on the PBE because it is too strong on melee champions like Ekko. I understand that it's easier to proc on ranged champions, but the vast majority of the time, ranged champions do no take Grasp because they do not benefit from it since they do not build tanky. ADCs build AD, crit, and attack speed, not health, and they get more value out of Fervor and Warlord's. Mages build AP, and assassins build AP or AD, so neither would get extra value out of Grasp. Squishy champions would only get good sustain for lane phase, and then it would be useless later on, but there are already better options for the lane phase. It just doesn't make sense to me why the Grasp reduction for ranged champions is around when only Gnar (who isn't doing great) and a couple other champions would benefit (maybe Graves? but he's getting nerfs on the PBE so he will have to build more damage and less tanky).

Graves Quinn

just pointing out that graves uses warlord's and quinn uses fervor. graves doesn't build a ton of health anyways, only sterak's and maybe one more health item. that isn't abusive, especially since the way his passive works means that he can't proc it through minions like most ranged champions.

Quinn gets more benefit from Fervor of Battle, and she only builds Sterak's Gage. Getting full value from Grasp doesn't make it abusive on them at all

When grasp was made it required you to be in combat(They changed it so you must be always in combat against an enemy champion a while ago). This mean't that ranged champions could abuse this mastery by always being in combat from a safe distance. Also, grasp is mean't to be for Tanks, so why would they allow ranged champions to gain the full benefit of something mean't for Tanks? ADC's already have Fervor, Warlord's, Thunderlord's and Jhin even uses Deathfire.

that change has been reverted and the lifesteal was lowered to 2.5%. The whole point is that there is one ranged champion that could really use it (Gnar) and nobody else would really benefit from it. Gnar is either forced to take a weakened version of Grasp for Mini Gnar or take Fervor which is weak in Mega Gnar. The lack of proper support from keystones is part of the reason Gnar is struggling right now, and I think it would help him a bit but not really affect anyone else.

I think it's pretty obvious. Ranged champions can abuse the shit out of it.

unless you build tank, you don't get much value out of it
