Win conditions currently feel stagnet. Introducing Player VS environment
#Brief Intro
As of right now there are two ways of losing the game generally.
-
Losing to objective control, Towers getting destroyed, enemy team getting all the right dragons or Baron.
-
Losing by enemy player knowledge or enemy teamwork. Getting caught out, baited, better use of itemization. (Buying items strategically than instinctively.)
Having only two variables coexist will stagnate the flow of the game for players. Solution is to add more variables which lead to different outcomes and can change how encountering a match can be. Turning the rift herald into a tower siege tool was a first step in introducing losing by environment where an inhabitant is used from the environment and used to take an objective. This is the right direction.. the direction that adds depth to a game.
The environment of the rift needs to be set against both teams from the get-go but provide opportunistic methods to get stuff done. Adding natural plants gave a more natural feel to the jungle but no danger or real reward..
#Green buff & interactions
Its a plant like the others except it preys on the living its a giant Venus fly trap. Fighting it the player must move around as it strikes with vines and has a shallow attack that can be dodged but can shallow the player temporarily but will eventually spit you back out. This has many uses such as buying time while being chased into your jungle you get eaten and become invulnerable and help arrives right as you get spit out. Or using it as an actual trap and using the environment against your foes chasing you.
The Green buff itself provides safety from Yellow Buff and epic monsters deal less damage to you. Also enemies who walk into either one of your jungle sides will have the green buff glow even brighter and emit sounds. You wont get a GPS tracking of your opponent but you will know when someone is present in your jungle side. The green buff itself will be able to spawn in one of three different locations randomly in the jungle on both sides of the map.
#Yellow buff & interactions
I have an older thread talking about adding a yellow buff, i am revisiting that idea since its very along the lines of player VS environment, Basically the Yellow buff will never be still or found in a specific location but rather a natural predator of the environment itself where its menu consists of champions on the rift and even some of your jungle camps. Limited one at a time on the whole map it spawns sometime later in the game. For visuals id imagine it be a four legged animal like a panther it can hop over certain terrain and it would always be camouflaged only appearing in sight when attacking.
The idea of yellow is to have a NATURAL occurring danger that's in the jungle itself but nothing too oppressive at first at least. The behavior pattern of yellow is simply to roam, stalk, and kill. If you happen to be in the line of sight you might not get attacked. Yellows current bounty and hunger determines if your prey. If provoked by attacking it, it will head on attack you. The bounty itself comes from kills from whoever it eats it gains a bounty that can increase over mass time or additional kills. The higher the bounty the stronger it is and the higher reward as well, the idea is that the higher the bounty yellow has then the more dangerous the jungle becomes for everybody.
The usage of yellow is the whole idea of player VS environment and even psychological here ill describe a situation where yellow is showcased.
(Team A)
(Team B)
The score is currently 12 to 16 Team B has took several towers. Team A is has a really fed
and
is severally behind in gold.
&
nearly catch
in the jungle,
barely has any HP. She notices a pair of yellow eyes glistening moving towards her but
could not make it in time, the beast attacks and consumes Ashe along with her bounty.
does not single handily give her gold to the enemy team but she strengthens the beast to the point where the jungle is now not such a safe place to traverse thru for anyone now the environment itself as a third party has joined the picture and is a threat to both sides.
For Team B this is both risk AND opportunity. The risk here is that time can be wasted tracking yellow and being devoured and feeding yellow even more till the point where the jungle cant be traversed at all. This can happen by Team A meddling in Team B's affairs with yellow. The beast can run away when severally outnumbered so ARAM in jungle would never likely happen. The reward is
's original bounty PLUS the reward of safety from yellow to have complete access to the jungle again without worry of fear as the jungle itself is necessary to traverse through. Team B can also leave the beast alone and push out for further towers and likely catch team A with there pants down dealing with yellow in the jungle alongside they're own siege. It all depends where yellow currently is.
So at this point if yellow does get fed enough it becomes an objective itself, product of the environment beating the player which leaves an entirely new outcome.
