The current PBE cycle is almost empty, althought it's for 5.19 aka post-Worlds

We had ben told that "a stable patch is needed for worlds [aka 5.18] so we'l be holding significant changes for afterwards". And yet 5.19 has Kindred, a devourer nerf and a Nocturne tooltip only change.

It's the smallest patch since the beginning of the season. Why?

Main Reason:

  • Everyone that normally works on balance changes is focused on work for the preseason that'll come out late this year (preseason changes are big, so take many patch cycles worth of work to prepare).

Secondary Reasons:

  • We believe there's value in keeping the state of the game in the Worlds Patch close to the state of the game on the live servers, so that the game you're playing and the game you're watching don't feel unnecessarily disconnected.
  • This also gives us a period of low change each year where we can assess how the game does or doesn't evolve when left steady. That further helps inform what we work on, and how, in the preseason/coming year.

Preseason is my favorite season. So many wild changes makes it so fun :3

I hope preseason comes with armor buffs/reverts of the nerfs....

They said they are gonna change almost every adc and X adc items (dont know how many items but i feel most of them will). So well i feel like armor items will not be changed otherwise ad items will

Just to keep expectations appropriate we're not going to be changing every ADC. We'll be doing work on a number of them, but a lot of them won't get touched apart from possibly some stat or low scope number adjustments.

Who is not planned to be updated and will there be a second pass done for those that were not updated?

Chromatic Eagle1 votes

So who's a priority for changes? Caitlyn was mentioned. Graves and Lucian.

Ferus and Ferrum1 votes

A lot of buzz going around about Quinn.

Also Miss Fortune.

Vayne's also getting changes I hear, probably to accentuate her early game weakness since right now it's not quite punishing enough. Maybe also Twitch who has been languishing in the bottom tiers for a while now. Maybe Ezreal might get a few changes to his W as well.

A lot of marksmen champions have terrible late games because they don't scale multiplicatively like auto-attack marksmen do. Varus, Ezreal, Graves, and to a lesser extent Lucian, Caitlyn and Corki. Champions that are supposed to have a strong mid-game, but lost a lot of their power when Bloodthirster was changed. How do you plan to address this?

Any teaser or hint on Vayne ?

I want ANY and ALL pertinent information on changes related to Draven!

Last change you made to him included QoL changes and a 'buff' that in actuality turned into a complete noob trap, I even made a thread on the subject.

Chromatic Eagle4 votes

Oh yeah. Question. A lot of melee carries and ADCs use the same/similar items as Marksmen. Will champions like Yasuo and Zed be affected by these changes?

chriserit1 votes

yeah my bad should have not said every adc but many of them

remember when smite in lanes was a weird thing?

Remember when only supports didn't take smite?

Janna Soraka Sona Lulu Nami Zyra None of them took smite.

Pyrodinium1 votes

Mage supports barely count as supports nowadays.

Ariel the Cruel3 votes

I doth protest!

Pika3101 votes

Sona doesn't even count as a champion anymore, let alone a support. I'd rather have a 4th caster minion spawning in bot lane than have a Sona, it'll die less often and do more damage.

4.20 Warwick was really fun to play, I wish 5.16 Skarner was actually fun and not just unfair.

Damn it meddler why do you always make sense? 😎 Great job of explaining

Third reason:

This is also world time, everydbody know Red dissappear from the board during that time (the 1 month from last year for exemple) , making it difficult to talk about change currently on pbe. So, it's to not mak change at all during that time than ending with something new which we never discuss about

Canastus2 votes

So does this mean that Cassiopeia will remain irrelevant until season 6 hits where she hopefully gets some of your attention again?

Are they looking to break their record for most simultaneous nerfs to a single champion within one patch? I started in Season 3 so forgive if I'm wrong, but I believe the current record is patch 4.13 with the 24 nerfs made to Sona. Will Fearless be the one in charge of breaking that record? Based on his work with the current record as well as ruining the jungle during pre-season 5, I'd assume he's the most well-suited to neutering another already sub-par champion like before.

So this is like what happened with Patch 5.15, except the following patch will be even bigger than 5.16?

That's what it was like last season too. This isn't a post Worlds patch, this patch will be available to the public during Worlds
