All the changes Riot could have tried before hitting CoC's numbers.

ABlueQuaker··4 votes·740 views

I'll start.

  1. Increase shield % by number of enemies affected by the CC.
  2. Make shield scale off bonus HP.
  3. Make CoC shields triggered by point-and-click CC less effective.
  4. Make CoC shields triggered by AoE and multi-target CC less effective.

Keep going.

Are people really complaining about this blatantly overpowered keystone getting nerfed?

ABlueQuaker2 votes

Nobody's complaining that it's being nerfed. I'm complaining that Riot nerfed it lazily. A blanket nerf doesn't make it a niche keystone perfect for the Champions Riot wants to see using it - it just makes it worse for everyone. It fixes nothing.

it's too good on everyone that actually uses it

there's no problem here

Which is why Riot should try limiting its use before outright nerfing it, kinda how they did with Runeglaive proccing in the jungle only. If it were gated by how much bonus health you build, it would be much better than a straight nerf.

But Riot will be Riot, and they sure do love their knee-jerk responses to balance issues.

What exactly are "champions Riot wants to see using it"? Because as its been stated a million times before, CotC is meant any champion with CC to take This isn't meant for a specific class of champions such as tanks or anything like that

It's intended for tanky champions who will be frontlining, as a way of giving them a temporary buffer for engaging, rather than a consistent 300 bonus HP for free. The CC gave it a way of proccing, which prevented the bonus HP from being "just another free stat"

So how does it feel to be wrong From a Rioter himself:

It was intended that this was a mastery that people could take if they wanted to add some windowed durability to their champion without having to compromise their build path to do so (hence why it's not %bonus health). At the same time, we wanted to make the mastery not so generalist that everybody takes it (eg. Strength of Ages).

But I haven't been proven wrong. It's...exactly what I said there. You're proving my point!

Yeah why isn't it based on number of enemy champions hit? Sounds more balanced.

ABlueQuaker1 votes

Lazy coding/lack of foresight/general Riot idiocy. Take your pick...

Big Lincoln4 votes

it's so that champs with single target CC Skarner Poppy or AoE that usually hits one person at a time Shen don't feel shit about taking it

This is how I thought it worked before it hit live, and when I realized all I had to do was make sure there were more than two enemies near my when I locked down a single target, it became clear that it was way too powerful.

A shield as impacting as it is, it needs to have a more clear way to be strong in the right circumstances, rather than on anyone that has the ability to apply hard CC. Ryze, Riven, Aurelion Sol, and others become way too safe in a 1v2 scenario.

Marshbouy1 votes

It would change nothing about champions abusing it. Riven AOE hard CC Hecarim AOE hard CC Etc. Also like big lincoln said it would nerf a lot of tanks too while making others that are abusing it, like nautilus, just as powerful.

Escheton1 votes

What's the nerf exactly?

ABlueQuaker1 votes

It's just a straight-up reduction to the % Max HP shield amount.

Ralanr1 votes

And an increase in CD.

This thread is pretty much getting downvoted and criticised for point 2. The rest of the are still valid options and the overall gist of the thread is unchanged. There are many options Riot should have considered before resorting to a brain-dead numbers nerf.
