Regarding Uncommon Roles - About the Morde Changes
Alright, look, I know there's quite a few Morde threads now. But I think there is an avenue of discussion that could be talked about as a community: Uncommon Roles.
TL;DR - What do you guys think about champions that fill weird roles like Morde (Bruiser that replaces ADCs) or Melee ADCs for example?
What the hell do I mean when I say "uncommon roles"? These are champions with roles or archetypes that aren't as common as "the tank" or "the assassin".
Think about
. He was marketed as a melee ranged AD carry, sort of like
, but I'd consider him to be closer to an assassin, personally. But this thread really isn't about either of these two in particular, but I'd like to talk about champions who have uncommon roles, just to see what the general idea about them is.
If you somehow have avoided it,
is being reworked into a champion that replaces an ADC. Just for the guys in the peanut gallery, the Riot Re-Up Team thinks that teams will legitimately think that instead of taking an ADC - meaning instead of
,
,
or
- teams will logically think that they should take
instead. A champion that is being re-tuned into a bruiser/fighter rather than a Mage - a.k.a. a champion that doesn't do very much damage.
Now, you may have plenty of arguments that the Re-Up Team is thinking intelligently, and that Morde is completely suited to replacing champions like Jinx, while simultaneously building items like Spirit Visage and Randuin's.
I personally think that this is f**king asinine. But I may be completely wrong.
BUT! Here's what I want to know. What does the community think about champions with weird roles, like melee ADC or Bruiser ADC-Replacement? Are roles like this good or bad?
Some can argue that weird roles can be viable, like
. I'd personally argue that he's closer to being an assassin rather than an ADC.
But I am just one person. I want to know what you guys think about it. Picture if you will, a champion that is supposed to be a support, but through some mechanic, they gain more supportive power by killing enemies (Eg. they have an aura that is strengthened by kills, and only kills). It would be completely backwards in terms of game design, and in terms of the meta, just like Morde is going to be if his PBE kit is pushed to live.
What do you guys think?
