Just got eaten alive as Riven against Yasuo. What's some tips for this?

I decided to play Riven for the first time in awhile, and got DESTROYED by a Yasuo. Aside from the obvious and clear need for Yasuo nerfs to happen immediately ( ;P ) and me probably being silly to think I could bunny-hop back into her and do well out the gate, what's the best way to play this matchup? I ate a lot more trade damage than he did when I tried to E-Q-AA-W-AA-Q-AA-Q-AA. With the need to weave in auto attacks between my spellcasts, it kind o felt like he was able to deal his damage a lot faster than me, and it was hard to catch him with my R or my Qs between Wind Wall and his hyper-mobility.

When he engages, q to the other side of him as an attempt to dodge his Q.

Save at least 1 in case you're in a situation that you need to get out.

Use your stun, and your shield efficiently. He also is never, so unless he's using his tornado/ult he will generally be in your stun range.

Once 6, you should be able to all in him.

Guess he finally avenged his old man there lol

I just had this match up actually. It's tough and definitely a skill match up. I tended to E his tornadoes and try to go in and full combo when his shield is down. The good thing about this match up is Yasuo has to build squishy. Riven has room to build tanky so an early item 1029 or item 1028 gives you way more room for error than Yasuo has.

If you can't animation cancel as Riven you're generally going to lose most matchups due to how much damage potential you're missing out from

Against Yasuo you generally want to hit 2 first and try to cheese a kill as he likely started Q and will be unable to escape without flashing Whenever using your CC try to cancel a dash as this will likely leave him in an awkward position which is probably in the middle of the minion wave Also Yasuo's shield takes far longer to come up than Riven's Cooldowns so go for trades when it's down if your spells are up

Aside from that it's just whos the better player with better decision making Though if he ever manages to windwall your ult you probably lost

Try to save your last two q's for leaving after the trade.

Go for shorter trades and then all in him at six.

Hmm, so don't try to use the full 3 Qs and 3 Autos? Okay, thanks.

Mhm, with a lot of matchups you don't want to go for full trades exhausting all of your resources. Also be careful about fighting him in or near your own wave because he will completely run circles around you if you do that.

Yasuo needs nerfs yet he's barely played mid in pro play at all, he's so powerful obviously.

Whatever asshole, if you aren't going to help when the other 95% of the post is me asking for advice, just go fuck off back to your basement.

Don't cry about being beaten by a Yasuo when you just expect to win because you have a counter champ. He was better than you and you lost, don't whine about how strong he is then ask for help like you aren't salty ( and now toxic).
