I'm at 600,000 mastery points with Lulu and I got 3 mastery 7 shards for her, but apparently because I'm not good at RNG with other non-Lulu champions that means I haven't mastered Lulu enough for rank 7.
Yeah Riot when people said that champion essence was worthless this is totally what they had in mind :^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^)

and the blueprint for 1 of the warframes, I literally played for 14 hours nonstop before I got the blueprint, and because it was through a ''quest'' all I got at the end of every mission were credits, biggest waste of time ever so I highly doubt LoL can top warframe it's bullshit rng paywall.

Sir Hammerlock25 votesYeah, I have to say that this system even requiring essence is a total fluke. It's basically asking you to spend money because of the low probability that you even get a Champion Shard, nevermind one that is even worth enough Essence for Mastery 7.
This is causing quite the uproar, so I suspect Riot is going to do something about it, like remove the essence cost, but who knows - they certainly have become more greedy over the years.

The fact they didn't release that method along with the Mastery 6/7 system is a very clear indicator that they are looking to milk people for a little while until they finish rolling it out.
I don't usually jump to conclusions like this, but Mastery is not a time sensitive release; Riot easily could have waited until both parts were finished before rolling it all out together, but they chose to stagger it so people wouldn't be able to use IP to replace the RNG of Hextech Crafting.

I would love a source on this, if you're able to find one. Either way, however, I'd view the IP sink part to be core to this system, to avoid the frustration of either having to deal with sporadic RNG from Hextech Crafting or paying for Mastery.
Being required to pay to show your skill with a champion (unless you're lucky with chests) is stupid, quite frankly, and personally I would have preferred Mastery 6/7 to be put on hold until the IP piece was ready.

So instead, they decided to just buy into successful companies, and just let them run (as they knew what they are doing) and collect the profits off of them.

i don't exactly know why or how is this supposted to increase the quality of the game but that's the way it is and it was entirely done on Tencent's initiative.
Also, you're generalizing too heavily. League is the most popular game in the world, so thinking the company that owns it has something to do with it's recent monetization products and tricks is not something out of this world to do.

The Splash art updates was not done because of Tencent. Tencent could care less what splashes are used (so long as they don't have anything illegal for the country). Additionally, those updates are temporary, in order to make it easier to output any future changes or anything of that nature. There are multiple riot posts on this.
And please, tell me: what are the recent money grabbing initiative from Riot? The one where they allow people to get previously pay locked content, for free, just by playing the game? Yep, that's certainly money grabbing.
They are adding in a way to get champion shards with Ip. Be patient and stop the conspiracy theories.

Truly Prideful3 votesThat would be fine and honestly feel better. No matter what you get has some kind of value to you. If you want skins you'll get dust or even a skin shard you like. If you need mastery you'll always have a chance at dust or possibly the shard you need. A slight increase to prices to make everything feel better seems good. At least it removes some of the RNG on top of the key RNG.

On the serious note, this may improve with presenting of Random Champ Shard for IP. I am just afraid that either this will be treated the same way as SoloQ, or that they didn't release it together because they wanted people to spend money first, or that it will cost you several thousands of IP. But seriously not releasing it together was big mistake.

If Riot keeps going down this road I won't hesitate leaving here either. I don't mind paying for stuff, I'm not broke IRL and have spent thousands on this game over the last 4 years. I don't care about the potential free items. I care about the fact that Riot tossed this Hextech shit into CHAMPION MASTERY in an attempt to rope in people who otherwise would never consider buying a chest.

But now, we have people begging RNJesus for champion shards. OP, this is my third time replying to you, in a third thread so i'll make the next sentence as big as possible:
#RIOT WILL PUT (IN A PATCH OR TWO) RANDOM CHAMPION SHARDS FOR IP IN THE STORE TO ELIMINATE THE RNG FROM HEXTECH CHESTS.
The key here is to sit tight and wait for it to come out. You aren't losing anything by waiting a little while, you can farm up IP and S tokens for the next level so that you only need blue essence to unlock lvl 6 and then 7. You aren't required to bend over for this, you are basically playing the game with Lulu and trying your best - like you always do.
