Too afraid to leave my turret

So most of the time I play safe and stay under my turret and farm as I try new champs.I am trying to play Illaoi at the moment.Last two games I stayed under turret (first vs urgot and second vs heimer) because every time I walked towards the middle of the lane, they would attack me and deal damage and I honestly am afraid of dying.I feel like I can’t do anything and felt useless so I was basically waiting for the game to end and being in teamfights if I could (didn’t get any kills because early game I did nothing and I’m teamfights I just let my team do their job and end.So..Idk if it’s just my mood today or whatever.I am just too afraid to leave my turret.Any tips ?

P.s yes I play support and jungle (I play every role) so I hoped for a different answer,I will accept any response.

As Illaoi, you should hardly be afraid. You heal whenever a tentacle hits someone, even if it just hits the spirit. You're being way too passive if you're turret hugging as a juggernaut. Doesn't mean push up, but don't be afraid to fight.

As illaoi you should actually be bullying them. Just have some balls and fight, same concept with Darius. Fight with your tentacles and ban mord because he can screw your positioning over.

Practice bush weaving, and aggro positioning for top lane. That means take control of the brush on the edge to drop aggro from minions, and learn what you can and can't do from various positions around the minions that will cause them to, or not to target you. Minion damage control is really important in the top lane.

On top of that, use this knowledge to position where the enemy WILL pick up aggro if they poke you, and won't have brush control to drop it.

This is the only way to really work on taking your lane to the next level tbh. Anything else is generic advice, or go back to JG/Support.

As I'm sure you know, there's freezing, pushing etc. etc. but if you really want to take control, do it in the middle of the lane around the brush areas.

When you get into the groove of what makes Illaoi a threat, your eyebrows will rise and your eyes will sparkle. When you go into the middle of 5 enemies and ult you will cackle with glee as you somehow stand tall unscathed on a mountain of corpses. You will then realize the potential you had all along but couldn't see.
