Enough is enough RIOT !!!!

Last 2 days my internet hasn't been working very well so I was forced to play bot games to get the daily bonus IP and complete the missions. And what do I see? Bot accounts. Every. Single. Game. Hell there are more bots in my team than the enemy team... Culmination was the game I just finished where ALL FOUR OF MY TEAMMATES WERE BOTS !!!!!!!! Now ignore the fact that this is me playing bots, any decent league veteran will easily beat 100 beginner bots solo, but imagine if I was a newcomer to the League. Can you imagine how frustrated and helpless new players would feel if 4 of their teammates were bots and running it down mid every fucking game? Do you seriously think that they wouldn't quit the League without giving it a second thought? If you want players to keep coming into the game, GET RID OF BOT ACCOUNTS !!! I understand that you can't stop toxic permabanned people from making new accounts constantly and harassing everyone in lower levels, but I don't understand is that you can't VERY EASILY detect any bot account. Hell, there isn't even a report option for people like this besides "cheating". Stop letting them ruin AI games, Twisted Treeline and ARAM, hell even Normal Blinds at low levels sometimes. You are pushing potential new playerbase away from the game, you are pushing their money away. At least you can do it for the money if not for the community ??

Sadly, Riot has made it very clearly that their stance on bots is that they don't care enough. They purposely ban botters in waves so they can put less effort into updating bot detection algorithms. This allows known botters to play for weeks or even months before they finally get banned for it.

Yeah though I've noticed people can get away with it forever if they just solo bots on TT. Honestly I don't mind if someone sends 3 bots into TT and they just solo other bots because its IP farming with no problem, but if they're soloing that's potentially ruining a game for players. And these even end up making it into normals. The goal of bots is IP farming and trying to get away with it in normals is good incentive since it farms the IP of an account faster, so you either want to disguise your bots behavior or send it into a mode riot gives no fucks about.

I had a friend who was lazy and bought bots in all kinds of games and I noticed he was in TT vs AI all the time and he basically told me how he gets away with it. Dude had bots in tons of free to play games and it seems like it wasn't any harder than farming for gold in an MMO.

They do waves of bans to make the trigger harder to detect. What you ask of Riot is a magical bans system which cannot be circumvented.

It doesn't make it harder to detect. It just makes it longer to detect. It's exactly as difficult regardless of time. And they're not publicizing their algorithms. If they honestly were to dedicate someone to keeping bot detection algorithms up to date, they could easily afford to not wait forever to ban people.

And to be honest, if bot software gets good enough to where Riot can't detect it with a reasonable amount of effort, then it's going to be good enough to where it's not pissing off people in bot games.

It does. if a botter releases an update, and it gets banned 4 months later, they will not know what triggered the ban, and will have to but hours of work into fixing it. Riot does try, you just are hive minding with the population of those who think riot is the hell of the earth.

Nobody says Riot doesn't try. The problem is that they don't try hard enough. I don't know exactly what the time period is on Riot's ban waves, but if it's anywhere close to the 4 months you just suggested, that means they only have to update their bot detection algorithms 3 times a year. They probly do it more than that anyways, but that's something they can assign as mere sidework for a single programmer to do in their spare time.

I don't actually know, but I would hope that Riot has at least a few staff members who's job it is to track down scripting software in general. While it makes a lot more sense to be cautious with and spend more resources on active player scripting detection software, there's should be enough resources for a decent focus on bot detection software. It's significantly easier to detect a constant inhuman playstyle than the script enhancing playstyle of an actual human using scripts. Hell, one person pretty much stated one of the biggest giveaways:

Just parse the match history for God's sake. No need for a sophisticated algorithm.

Riot could easily quick ban a ton of bots by triggering a red flag that activates when you have this kind of match history which results in an in game check that requires an active player to do something to prove a real person is behind the keyboard like clicking on randomly appearing items on the map. If they fail 3 checks, just instantly ban the account instead of waiting for the next ban wave.

Here's the kicker. Riot is very careful when it comes to botting. A bot can easily just be a poorly performing new player, and they cannot view every account on its own. If they banned an account instantly upon flagging, the bot writer would know at that instant what triggered the ban, leading to a workaround.

Also, my "4 months" analogy was just random numbers from my head, Riot says they do waves pseudo-randomly, can be one today, then one next week. Or it could be one today, one next month, we never know, for good reason.

The whole situation is absurd.

90% of accounts playing against the IA are bot accounts. Someone has a computer playing 24/7 until the account reach level 30, then sell the account for 10$ in the secondary market, then repeat inifinite times.

We have people permanently breaking a dozen of Riot's rules and bans never happen because Riot doesn't care enough about new players, low levels or playing against the IA. It gives a very bad impression of overall laziness.

10$ for an account? Shit I'd be making bots too. Hell might even look into it.

That is one of the more amusing parts of Riot's delayed banning system. Some people buy a level 30 account and then it gets banned after they get it for the botting. If I actually got to see their suffering, that might actually make up for the suffering I endure in the games with all these bots.

It really is pretty rough on new players, actually. I was recently playing a coop vs AI game for... some reason, idr why, and I ran into a newbie Varus and two bots. I was mid, where the bots ran, and Varus was bot. Our two bots hard-fed the Ahri bot despite my best efforts, and Varus was utterly unable to do anything 1v2 in bot lane with no experience. We didn't want to leave entirely open mid, but he was miserable 1v2, so we ended up swapping. It was still super-rough on him despite everything I could do, and while he was a good sport about it, having to deal with a 14-kill Ahri in lane in a bots game is the sort of thing that drives new players off.

Shutting down botted accounts isn't entirely in Riots best interest. People buy those accounts and then buy skins on them.

korg0232 votes

It is impossible to shut down all bot accounts, there is no possible way for Riot to recognize which account is bot account instantly and ite demands so much resources to identify all bot accounts.

haha same yesterday i also had a game with 4 bots
