Quaker's Unpopular Opinions.

  1. One of Riot's least attractive qualities is that they don't know when to admit they messed up. Riot just won't accept fault. Class updates, for the most part, have been horrendous with something like a 33% success rate on the champion gameplay updates. It took multiple failed Rageblade reworks to revert the Kog update. We still haven't had a revert on the Fizz or Maokai Updates. Graves and Quinn are both still abominations.

  2. Melee carries shouldn't exist. Yi and Yasuo are two of the most polarizing champions in the game. The question of skill-to-benefit ratio is irrelevant - their kits are inherently very toxic. Riot needs to push them toward being Assassins (think Zed), Divers (think Riven) or Traditional Bruisers (think Jax; Aatrox; Irelia). Riot seems to think that it's healthy to have the amalgamation of Survive-ability, Burst and Sustained DPS for the mere sake of being able to say that the game has Melee Carries.

  3. Purely Passive supports are toxic by design. Janna and Soraka are abominations. They do the exact same job regardless of whether they build Full AD, Meta-slave Support, Full AP, or (the most toxic of all) Full Tank. A champion like Nami, Lulu, or Sona on the other hand actually needs somewhat invest in CDR and AP to avoid falling off.

you lost credibility when you said yi was polarizing.

i wouldnt bother to argue yasuo because everyone has a stupid opinion on him. but yi is such a fair champion it's silly. there is a reason why the higher you go the lower you see of hima nd the lower his winrate gets ( unless by mains)

Yeah, Polarizing. I'm in silver and climbing But if I get a particularly bronzey game I can pick Yi and win with an angry AFK mid laner. Down at the bottom Yi is a surprisingly common ban because of his ability to run away with games. But he's impossible to pick in the highest leagues and I think people might actually melt into quantum possibility goo if Yi were to legitimately get picked in the LCS - It's just not going to happen.

Bronze opinion: OMG Yi jg gg inc penta. Not so bronze opinion: Yi? is this dude trolling? OTP? dodge baiting? That's pretty by-the-definition polarized

except bronze and silver both don't have uniform opinions. there is no "Yi op" vs "Yi is a joke" crowd in bronze despite having a 20% pick rate, why? because imagine someone complaining about yi on baords. the uniform answer to them is "git gud" because anyone with any sense of game knowledge knows yi is not some god. if you wanna argue he was polarizing you could get away with the prejudice people have about his skill floor because then you would have some ground to stand on. but would argue that the majority of the time people know yi is shit, they are just mad they are losing to something that takes " no skill".

Yi's kit is straight forward with no extra add ons, he does 1 thing and does it arguably better then any other melee DPS, his counter play is very apparent as he has only 1 defensive tool and a persudo defensive trick he can use that matters every few seconds. The only thing even remotely toxic about yi is how farm heavy he is making him uninteractive for the first few minutes.

you can call literally anything polarizing if you argue the opinion of the uneducated. so it holds no value here.

also @ melee carries being toxic

Riot seems to think that it's healthy to have the amalgamation of Survive-ability, Burst and Sustained DPS for the mere sake of being able to say that the game has Melee Carries.

but would you argue that its healthy to have an entire role dedicated to supporting carries who dont have these things themselves?

range carries don't get survival tools because they become hyper carry's who have 0 interaction with you and still carry Tristana melee will always have to be in danger to do their job so they are uni-formally unreliable.

Well that is because:

  1. Is just an opinion: I actually think some of the updates were needed and a lot of them produce both good and bad champions. The good being champions like talon, cassiopea and in my opinion quinn is way better than she ever was before the rework. Of course there is also bad reworks (malzahar) exist as well but I personally feel that updates are usually not complete failures.
  2. Survive-ability, Burst and Sustained DPS: this could also apply to most bruisers like, darius, riven, aatrox, close range carries come with a lot of risk. You give up most cc and have to rely on you to carry. I think making them full on assassin or bruiser will just leave them like boring shells of what they are now.
  3. This again is a opinion, I like them as supports and can often shut them down when they are on the enemy team.

riven, jax and aatrox are carries though

do you mean glass cannon melee carries? if so then i agree, because those don't work when League doles out hard CC like candy

They aren't doing class updates anymore. And Graves and Quinn are fine. Quinn isn't particularly good, but she wasn't before, so not much has changed.
