is cho gath silence glitched?

sometimes when i play reneketon against cho, i dash behind him and even though the animation didn't even go off i still get silence a second later, and i've noticed this quite a few times so its not like i'm imagining it.

It works similar to Darius' E. It looks for targets in the cone at the start of the cast and then applies the damage and silence after the cast time. Doesn't matter where you end up as long you were in range at the start of the cast.
