Aatrox Rework

even on release the melee version of vlad had some troubles, his kit was a bit janky and took too long for him to find a place to excel at before the nerf hammer hit home for sustain champs. here are some thought bubbles to help out a bit.

Passive-Blood Well- His passive is OK, as 2nd life kits go anyway, if we made his attack speed a separate passive that builds up the longer he is in combat rather than the amount of blood in his blood well it might help balance him out a bit.

Q- Dark Flight- not the strongest of gap closers, it's animation is slow it's range is not that high but it gets a nice little knock up and damage to kinda help balance that out. maybe buff it's animation speed a little or it's range. or maybe tie in it's speed damage and range the more or less blood he has stored up. make his flight speed and distance faster the less blood he has, and make it's damage and knock up duration stronger while he has more blood perhaps.

W- Blood Thirst/Blood Price- this skill is kind of troubled, it has the normal three hit trigger effect riot loves, but the effects are a bit too awkward to balance correctly. a skill that heals for any amount is already powerful, even if that heal is considerably weak, and early on most players will not use the Martyr version of the skill as it does a little too much damage back to himself for a pretty weak enhanced attack. this one needs a complete rework there's not much to be done to save it. New W can and probably should remain a passive effect on the three hit system riot balances around, make every third attack shred an increasing amount of damage based upon his current blood store, and scale off his physical damage and maybe even some bonus health thrown in for good measure so long as the damage is not overwhelming. maybe make the third hit cost HP but then refund that HP+X% more based on blood well store and if you hit a champion or big creep.

E-Blades of Torment- this is another skill that needs to kind of be reworked, the animation again is pretty slow for what it does. it's damage is kind of meh, but the slow is very nice especially considering that it can effect an entire team, but in a realistic team fight the odds of you slowing down the whole enemy team with this skill is pretty low considering missile speed and width. if we made it a single target skill that did some armor shred and move speed reduction, with a decent cooldown and an enhanced effect based on his blood store it would probably be a lot neater to his kit, considering the possible changes that can be made to his Q. this would make him a bit more of an effective duelist without giving him an abundance of built in healing that can easily become toxic to game play.

R- Massacre-i love his ultimate, it's got a cool name, and a decent effect. the only thing i would even consider changing is maybe add in an effect that gives him bonus blood well stacks, and maybe shift the old life steal effects into his ultimate.

i'm not sure this would make him top pick for jungle mid or top, but some of these changes would certainly make him less awkward to play and a bit more viable to say the least.

As an Aatrox main I disagree. But I do main him because of the state he is in, so that is why I would not like to see any big changes :3 Honestly all I would do is make him invincible during Q and add a fear on Massacre. Still you have an interesting idea for a rework. Glhf in game :D

Aatrox has the most useless and worst "revive passive" in the game. They should just remove it completely, buff his stats (hp, ad, armour, magic ressist) and give his ultimate a 1/1.5/2 sec AoE fear on use.

well his revive passive is better than aniva or zac's who can be killed before their revive can even go off, he's the only one with a revive with stasis i should have said. and an aoe fear on massacre could be really strong and fun. there is not a whole lot of fear in the game, think that would be fun :D

That's pretty nice, I had thought of this to put him in line with Yi, old Fiora, Trynda, Olaf... http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/bwAOjA6w-what-if-aatroxs-ult-turned-incoming-cc-into-dots

the melee version of Vlad

Really? Are we going to pretend the heal on Aatrox's W is significant in an actual fight or even while laning?

I think Aatrox generally needs better teamfight impact when he's behind because he literally does nothing when he is behind.

For a champion who's history is around inspiring plebeians into valorous compact, he's kinda ehh.

To be honest, I don't think that he needs so many changes. first of all:

make his flight speed and distance faster the less blood he has, and make it's damage and knock up duration stronger while he has more blood perhaps.

This one seems nice, I would like to see that happen.

But I would only do a small change to his W, actually only one. Take a look at this:

COST: 15 / 23.75 / 32.5 / 41.25 / 50 (+ 25% bonus AD) HEALTH

An AD scaling??? Seriously? These costs punish you for snowballing. They should definitely remove the Ad scaling of the heath cost.

the only thing i would even consider changing is maybe add in an effect that gives him bonus blood well stacks

it already does:

dealing magic damage to nearby enemy champions and filling his Blood Well.png Blood Well by 20% of its maximum value for each enemy hit.

Then instead of

Magic Damage: 200 / 300 / 400 (+ 100% AP)

it should be (+50% AP) (+ 50% Bonus AD)

Passive - You nerfed this by making the attack speed scale based on attacking.

You need to buff his revive in some form to balance it or remove the attack speed conpletly and use the space gained to get a new or better revive.

Q - None of this will work. His current issue is that using Q is too slow and you'd get x2-3 more damage aa instead + you damage 10% current HP just to use it.

Q needs to give invulnerability during the jump-slam or remove it or something new.

W - This is OP because of his passive and ult giving attack speed. To balance it, have it instead deal +% dmg on AA based off your life steal (life steal will be disabled when this is in use) So you trade life steal for damage.

While the healing part (other toggle) Is removed completely and instead gives 1-10% life steal.

  • If this is done, then attackspeed needs to be removed from his kit entirely

E - This ability is fine as it is, the shape of the aoe could be changed though via charge/blood well size.

R - This needs to go and rework into his theme. AA should gain an Aoe effect when active.

Duration is 5 seconds + 1/2/3 (for each enemy hit with it) This forces it mostly for team use. Applies a buff which heals allies for 4/8/12% dmg dealt (or less) with Aatrox gaining half + 2% per ally nearby when activated.

This fits his theme of going into an I winnable battle. His ult will have to be used in the middle of the enemy but allies benefit of they dive in too and his buff turns the battle.

He comes off as too powerful with this kit, so weaker numbers or apply % HP cost to the ult. but the kit has good synergy with Sacrafice > Damage

after careful thought and mostly being bored i decided to take another crack at the melee vlad kit, this time with a mostly total overhaul* dramatic echo* lets do this guys, send me the hate because i'm making him more like a Daemon of Khorne!

Passive: Hunger for Blood- Aatrox deals bonus damage and heals for a percentage of damage done, scaling based on the targets missing HP( the weaker the target the stronger Aatrox becomes) 5/10/15% bonus AD based on targets missing HP, and heals for 4/6/8% raw damage.

Q: 600 range 10% current HP 12/10/8/6/4 sec CD Sanguine Slash - Aatrox's next basic attack will deal swing in a wider arc (40 / 75 / 110 / 145 / 180 +80% bonus AD over 2.5 seconds. while the target bleeds, Aatrox gains 25 movement speed towards the target, if the target dies under the effects of Sanguine Slash Aatrox will refund the health cost and gain double the movement speed in any direction for three sec. killing minions instead only refunds half the cost and the normal 25 movement speed in any direction for 3 sec.

W: 400 range 20% current HP 22/20/18/16/14 sec CD Aura of Hate- Aatrox seethes with rage for the next 2.5 sec stealing enemy Armor and Magic resist up to a cap. armor/resistance cap 5/10/15/20/25 per target. Aura of Hate hard caps at 100 armor and 80 Magic resist, regardless of enemy champions in range. if five enemy targets are in range for Aura of Hate the ability is free to cast, and instead will grant additional 10% tenacity.

E: 650 Range 10% current HP Furious Charge- Aatrox rushes forward, slashing all enemies in his path, dealing 60 / 120 / 180 / 240 / 300 (+ 180% bonus AD) and healing for 9/13/18/22/27 +10% bonus AD for each non enemy champion, and 27/40/54/67/81 + 36% bonus AD for each enemy champion, up to a cap of 150/225/300/375/450 healing total. if a target is affected by Sanguine Slash Aatrox will also Stun them for 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2 sec

R: 500 range : 160 / 130 / 100 CD Icon of Wrath- Aatrox marks the area around him, allies and enemies are both affected by the brand but in very different ways.

Allies: move 10/15/20% faster while in the area and lasting 1 sec after leaving the Icon of Wrath, while inside the icon of Wrath 5/10/15% damage they take is instead distributed evenly among nearby enemies

Enemies: move 10/15/20% slower, and are feared for 1 sec when entering or exiting the Icon of Wrath. an enemy can only be feared in this way once if they were not in the initial cast zone, and twice if they were within range of Aatrox when the ability was activated.

i don 't even know if this kit is good or over powered just really was in the mood to make a stupid warhammer thing and i already had this post.
