But she's not. Why? Because those champs do so much damage in both poke and all ins that Leona literally never has an opening against these champs without jungle help. Even if you manage to keep your health up until you reach lvl 2 or 3, you still lose when you go in because these champs do so much fucking damage.
TL:DR Buff Relic Shield/Nerf Spellthiefs.

DarkRitual1 votesWhen I play Leona against Zyra, I realize that I have to be reactive.
You're not useless, but you have to play differently. When Zyra uses her spells to try to engage, she either hits you, and not your DPS source, or she hits your ADC and has no cooldowns to do anything about you dropping in on the other ADC.
Zyra will still put a lot of damage down to your ADC, but the enemy adc can't follow in when you have them locked down. Since Zyra is gated by cooldowns early on in laning phase, she has little she can do to stop you. So Zyra will do one of two things, back off, and leave the trade at that, or she'll be stupid and chase your ADC, giving you a prime Zenith Blade escape and possible kill.
Same does with Malz. As a support, he's SUPER gated by mana costs. Leona is fine against them, you just need to learn how to play the matchups and capitalize on mistakes.
Silent Pace1 votesNot really. The main problem Leona has is she ALWAYS has to rush Level 2 before she can all in, and that's all she really has. After she uses her E + Q combo, she is a sitting duck left to be kited. She doesn't have anything to pin them down or slow them after using those two skills so she may get one auto attack off before being forced to back off while getting poked down. Combined with the fact that you have to leash hard for your jungler this season, Leona is at a huge disadvantage with that long walk to lane. Relic Shield was nerfed multiple times by Riot so they won't buff it. Spellthiefs isn't the problem, stop nerfing items because a champ that's using it is a problem. "Lel nerf Doran's Blade" <- That's what you sound like.

With all the % damage out there and no sustain available it is no wonder melee supports cant really protect ADC like they should vs all these mages going bot. Whats worse is in this meta is all these 2v4 happening bot. Vanguards like Leona need real help from buffs to do their job in this meta.

BeatzBoyFTW1 votesIt's only Zyra & Malzahar being the bitches of Bot lane Support meta. The rest such as Soraka, Sona & Karma are still resistable. The two are handed with some nerfs which should hit their Support power.
