Weird question: Is the marksmen-class as a whole even healthy for the game?
You know, literally all the complaints I see on these boards can be traced back to marksmen being too strong:
Tanks being too weak and underwhelming to play, save for that one weirdo who is somehow allowed to have 5k hp and still drop 2k true damage nukes,
Towers falling way too easy,
Games being way short and with that too stompy,
etc etc.
In most cases it is all the fault of marksmen just doing WAY too much damage, even in parts of the game where they theoretically shouldn't. I remember, way back in season two, when the marksman was sent bot with a support for one to have two people ready on dragon, but for the other TO GET THEIR WEAK ASSES THROUGH THE EARLY AND MID-GAME. An Adc before 25 minutes? Mostly laughable, unless they somehow got really, really fed. Sure, there were lane-bullies, but they were bullies in the context of all others being weak, so even them had their power cut down.
And today? Now marksmen burst harder than assassins and faster than mages, all while being able to sustain harder than drain-tanks. That's kinda wrong, no?
Now I just hear "enemy bot doublekill", which can happen I guess, followed by "The enemy team has destroyed a tower", followed by a dragon kill in maybe 30 seconds. Sometimes they get the drake first and then the tower, but it's just absurd that all of that just can be raked in at once without having the entire team down there.
One of the main reasons I play Soraka top is that now I can take influence on botlane from my island on toplane - it's not enough that I have to win my lane, I CONSTANTLY NEED TO KEEP AN EYE ON BOTLANE OR WE LOSE. That's how absurdly important early game adc snowballing has become, you know, the class that was supposed to be "all lategame".
I'd personally say that we should just remove crit and lifesteal from the game as stats. Mages do fine with AP and CDR, so making an itemsiation around AD, AS, and CDR should be doable. Just bring the marksmen down from a "mandatory position the entire game revolves around" to "a class you can pick but you don't have to". You know, LIKE LITERALLY EVERY OTHER CLASS.
