was meant to be an item for hybrid champions like . Then riot decided to trash all ap-items other than the last hope for us midlaners . (R.I.P , 70 ap on , : It's too expensive for Bill Gates) It's impossible to have a 2-item powerspike. The is a desperate solution of the ap-midlaners to at least do something in midgame. But 's rise in popularity will be its downfall in strenght.

generally magic items are more expensive than tank and most of ad items . specially though attack speed items such as runans if you play 1v1 top lane akali vs vayne , vayne will get an item completed first, but akali counter her at least early game .

In high-elo they buy item 3146 on Ahri Leblanc etc. And because it has becomen popular even in competitive gamplay i feel like it's going to be nerfed soon. Anyways that's not the point of the post: item 3031 + item 3046 = awesome item 3165 + whatever item = garbage synergy i don't complain about ap items being too expensive its just that they all only give 60-80 ap and that's not enough. Riot shouldn't nerf the gunblade but buff some off the other items instead

I should also point out that the pros are not doing item 3146 on Ahri that often.

And, let's be clear - more often than not, it's usually item 3146 + item 3100 that is being used. The reason why, initially, is that Riot has taken the position that the best way to nerf a snowbally AP based midlaner was to hurt the initial wave clear - yes, I am looking at you Leblanc .

This is why for a while item 3152 had a brief burst of popularity. And it is why item 3146 is now being used. If you nerf wave-clear amongst champs that is supposed to spike at about midgame, then the players will look for anything to make their chosen champ relevant and a little less clunky. (Let's be honest, the post-multi-nerf Leblanc has a horrible play-style - and this "fix" which is now being used on her is a nice band-aid for the problem.)

The item 3146 nerf is being feared here is perhaps a bit overblown. Look at it this way. If you examine how Leblanc is being handled at the pro stage, it really is now no different than we see with Katarina or Akali . (Look at Febiven or Exileh's recent use of Leblanc for example at LCS.)

If they do nerf it, then there will be a reworking of at least seven champs -something that Rito tends to steer clear of. (And it's not like Ahri mains have anything to worry about. This sort of build has been faring poorly at the pro-level).

idk how you are ignorant enough to believe Morellos + Core AP Item = garbage synergy It's essentially holds the same effect spells for casters vs aa's for crit ADC's IE strengthens auto attacks and PD allows you to hit them more frequently Deathcap, Ludens, or whatever other core AP item strengthens abilities and Morellos allows you cast them more frequently

Some AP mid-laners (namely Ahri and LB) have emerged with a different combo, Gunblade + Lich Bane because of how it plays into their kits. Firstly the Lich Bane proc and Gunblade active add more burst to these assassins, similar to how DFG felt back in the golden days of 100 to 0 AP champs. Additionally Gunblade's active slow is also very useful for mobile assassins to catch their targets and its passive sustain fits very well into single target damage (IE: each passive mark that get's proc'd by LB's Q) and additional sustain (IE: the passives for Akali and Ahri). These items also empower auto attacks which helps with farming, sieging towers and even split pushing (which wasn't much of an option before due to their weak AA's despite their ability to escape).

Although this combo emerged most recently from Ahri and LB (and has always been used by Akali), there seem to be a handful of other champions that can utilize it as well, if not at least just the Gunblade. This would include Ekko, Katarina, Kayle, Viktor, and possibly Diana as well.
