jhin passive snowballs him too efficiently

especially given that he's one of the most abusive and dominant laning adc's in the game.

it gives him huge extra stats for both gold leads (the AS/crit chance -> AD conversion) and exp leads (2-40% extra AD, scaling with level).

i feel like that base of 2-40% should either be tuned down significantly or removed, and the stat conversion be increased (along with his ability ratios to compensate). that way, jhin would have to farm intelligently and actually keep his GPM up instead of just walking into lane for the express purpose of abusing the enemy ADC.

alternate solution is to not make the base scale with levels, since that's what enables him to snowball off exp leads. a flat 20% bonus AD at all levels sounds pretty good. either that, or make it scale with levels of his ultimate, ie 10% at rank 1 ulti (level 6), 25% at rank 2 (level 11), 40% at rank 3 (level 16%). he'd still snowball off exp leads, but it would be in more predictable spikes rather than a smooth power curve that gives him relevance all game long if he's even or ahead.

if we're going to talk from a thematic standpoint like riot loves to do, jhin should exist for the purpose of putting on dazzling shows and flashes of brilliance, not instilling a steady regime of terror. making him power spike harder on significant item purchases, or giving him significant power spikes in levels of his ult forces players into a decision-making window as well as lulls in power for the enemy team to play around.

the last time i made a thread about jhin passive, i got the most downvotes that i've ever received on a single thread. how about i propose a decent solution this time as opposed to pointing out that jhin's passive is worth about 9000 gold of AD at level 18?

The same thing you always see on the boards.

A QQ thread.

not a qq thread gud sir

those don't provide reasonable solutions or break down why something is overtuned. they just cry.

I'll give you that. This thread actually provides constructive suggestions.

I'm not sure if the proposed solution would actually work or if Jihn even needs a nerf to his passive, but you're still ahead of many other posters.

hes the coolest adc besides draven. shut the fuck up

I love how you ignore the fact that Jhin is considered the slowest DPS champion among all ADC champs & his high AD compensates for it.

yeah, that'd explain why he's 4th on the damage dealt chart, only behind 2 poke champs (ez and corki) and kogmaw (who gets 5.0 AS and AoE mgc dmg).

this guy does insane amounts of DPM (which is arguably way more important than DPS), and he gets ridiculous gold efficiency to boot. his DPS isn't even that low, it's just front-loaded---which gives him more time to kite when another ADC would have to stay in place to execute an auto-attack (the most extreme example being kogmaw). he can fully contribute to a teamfight from 2500+ range, something no other ADC can do. he has more forms of and more frequent execute damage than any champion I've seen, bar maybe Elise.

i understand that he definitely needs extra AD to make up for his fixed attack speed growth and his reload mechanic, but i'm saying he gets too much, and he gets it for the wrong reasons. making him double-dip in scaling with both gold AND exp snowballs him too efficiently, and it allows him to fight evenly with someone who's insanely far ahead of him. imagine being 2000 gold up on a jhin and not being able to out-teamfight him.

jhin is way too heavily enabled to play a stupidly safe janitor-style pattern, kiting backwards over traps and using his W and R to secure kills and snowball harder than any ADC in the game off of them. you see even pro play where teams know how to choke the fuck out of a losing lane, people like rekkles somehow losing lane on jhin and then coming back with a massive snowball later because he pressed R at a decent time.

his kit feels really nice to play, and he's really cool and fun, but he's a little bit overtuned, and most of it is from his passive.

Put Jhin versus any adc both max items and tell me who wins...

1v1 dueling potential vs enemy ADC doesn't make or break a champion... if that were the case, vayne would be the most broken ADC in the game.

you do know he can't gain attack speed, right?
