game feels so snowbally
either im ahead and i two-shot everything, or i'm behind and do zero damage and everything one-shots me

Time to spam aram....maybe games can last a bit longer
I've found ARAM to be a lot of fun right now. Nothing has changed that much, mostly because mana regen is superior there regardless and you don't really notice the item changes aside from the new items.
ARAM - Where Teamfighting Is Still A Thing.
Just played a few games, seems like a tie for a little bit... then BAM! one team is suddenly winning hard. Not really a bad thing since it can go either way and tanks can actually die for their mistakes.
Maybe ARAM is balanced, but at the cost of the "main" game being broken as hell?
sorry for the ultra noob question, but what is snowballing? please dont downvote me to oblivion.

It's like a snow ball rolling down a mountain increasing in size/mass becoming impossible to stop.
Using this in video games means that once you get a lead big or small will most likely spell the demise of your opponents since there's nothing they can do to react.
In this context it means taking a small lead or advantage and becoming unstoppable because of it allowing one to take over the game.
This comes from the old cartoon ideas of a small snowball rolling down a hill and becoming a massive boulder moving with great momentum.
For example, say you are Top Lane Renekton. You manage to get first blood, you base with gold+experience advantage, you return with item advantage and level advantage for more stats than your enemy (so you have an advantage from a raw mathematical perspective). Now you can kill top again if he comes to fight or deny him income (cause he will die if he comes out to farm). If you can hit L6, you'll probably be L6 while enemy top is L5 and enemy jungle is L4. You now are beyond stat advantage, you have an extra button to press that they don't, from here you own lane, own farm and will be hard to take down for a long window of time (like until enemy jungler hard farms to L6). During this time you can take over 1/3rd of the map.
Once you've turned enemy laner into a glorified canon minion or taken his tower, you can roam to mid to side lane gank, force down botlane and even invade the jungle, turning 1/2 of the enemy jungle into your own personal scenic forest, you transfer your advantage into putting the enemy behind while getting your team ahead, allowing you to quickly smother the enemy team while closing out the game.

You know how a snowball rolls downhill and gets bigger as its rolling cause it's grabing more snow on the way?
Yasuo is the snowball and after he gets 1 kill, he rolls down the hill and keeps grabbing even more on the way down
What I've learned from this very early pre-season so far is that the game play has shifted to a more team-oriented style.
If you're getting easily 2-shot often then ask yourself: "Where am I in relation to my teammates?"
-clapclapclap- League of Dashes, League of Dashes
league of adc*
I feel the exact opposite. It feels like it's entirely about whoever got strong in the first 5 - 8 minutes is going to dominate the next 10 minutes and end the game around 20m-25m in. I haven't been in any teamfights. I've been a part of goonsquads that mug people under their own turrets, but no 5v5 teamfights over neutral objectives or in space. Someone gets strong, knocks down a tower, rotates to drake/baby baron (Baby Baron always takes someone with him...) and sieges down for a further gold lead - game snowballs like crazy from there.
Indeed. I can't even play half of my champs effectively because late-game is nonexistant right now. I've had one game where we had a comeback. We had early gold lead, lost it hard, but managed to score a few Aces to net the win. It's nearly impossible, but we had a fed Udyr.
Play a tank...?
Play a tank...?
Not sure if serious or just 2 metas behind.....
Check out the new ADC items and let me know how fun it is to play a tank. I've never been destroyed faster than the current meta as a tanky support mid game.
"I'm tanky guys!"
"LOL ok scrub, I have RFC and Last Whisper is now super cheap and builds into tank buster items, so prephare your body"
He's right, though.
Even if you have 40% bonus armor pen, it isn't enough if you get 200 ish armor extra since you don't need to build MR. Combine that with thornmail and you have some squishies killing themselves (a lot of squishies if you happen to be
)
/
. 0/12/18 masteries, using Meditation to alleviate most of your mana problems.
I've seen so many teams pick four AD champions these last few days, it is no even funny anymore.
Keep calm, pick an anti-AD tank, enjoy life. Last Whisper has been nerfed against you, Black Cleaver is a lot more expensive (got a higher price increase than your own items) and offers less protection, there is less random damage in masteries, but good damage reduction/sustain options, IBG scales with Armor and gives 20% CdR.
Focus on using more armor tanks. Kinda like
. He's pretty awesome in this meta and it's possible to 1v1 the ADC. So... yeah if you think this preseason is gonna have a problem with AD champs, play a tank. Or assassin.
Yeah but now I get twice as many games in an hour. It doesn't feel so bad to get stomped because next game I will steamroll and that's only a few minutes away.
yeah but there's no brain in that... i feel like unless you level 2 outplay or you get lucky with a gank early on, you dont really get to showcase any sort of skill
if you stomp, you just two-shot roflstomp everything. if you get stomped, no amount of outplay can get you a comeback.
Yep, I have felt the exact way since these changes, so far I haven't been a game in which the win rate seemed equal. One team was always largely ahead of the other. So now it's even harder to form a comeback, the games snowball too much. :/
I usually play Ahri, and I hate this. One moment, I'm one-shotting a hew people at once, the next game, I keep dying. And feeding. And getting screamed at, then being reported for being bad at the game then...
Theres just not a sense of fair competition anymore. the team with the better champs(and then the better skill and knowledge) win. then again counter strats will come up but for now, graves fiora trynd wreck every one plus every adc ever.
feels like those short games in heroes of the storm. Games don't even last that long anymore because of the huge marksman update and with item changes. Sure I like short games but I games where I get to try and earn my win. Snowballing a game in 20 minutes is boring.
because it is. it's stupid.
It seems the game has gone towards more of an LCS laneswap style where the laning phase is more of a formality than a real thing. Im finding that teams will go 3v1 /3v2 - 5v1/5v2 at like 8 minutes just to get a tower, and from there its basically over. Personally I don't have a problem with it, but thats just what I've observed.
What I do have a problem with is seeing these guys:

EVERY GAME.
Literally I had one game that was Yasuo, GP, Udyr, Graves on both teams. The only difference was the supports, who were
and
you forgot blitz. I haven't had a game without one so far.
Really? I haven't seen him at all yet. I was thinking about buying him but I can't bring myself to play him, I guess I have high moral standards LOL
Some champs do really good with the new innate gold buff.

Like that abominable soraka nobody likes.
Except me. And I don't even main Soraka.
no, rakka doesn't gain this patch. The increased lethality of ADCs everywhere makes her heals sort of meaningless, she can't put out enough healing throughput to have much of an affect in fights. Coupled with some other indirect debuffs, weaker AP items, being forced into mysteries that i honestly feel mostly don't fit her as well (other then the bottom of cunning, the boost to heals is pretty decent) and the net result is she is pretty limited right now. Rather your snow balling or being snow balled the fights over before her heals can have an impact.
this isnt even fun. this is boring as fuck and requires 0 thought or strat.
alot of the games i was in before was also snowbally. half the time one side would ff20
Yep, at the moment a successful gank from the jungler decides who will win the lane, you have close to 0 chance for a comeback. There are people that with just 1, max 2 kills are already able to take you down with a rotation or that with 2 max 3 poke spells they are able to make you recall.
Tbh after the games i played today even if they are only normals i am like 10x times more frustrated than ranked games, people are spamming broken champs even while we are in preseason and rankeds literally mean nothing...
Sorry to say but for this patch i am done and if they are not going to change this even for the next one and at that point if at the beginning of the season 6 nothing changes i will consider to quit.
New Patch sucks! One lucky hit, one misclick = multiple turrets lost, baron gone, enemies are 9/2 in 10 minutes. The patch is balanced for lcs, as is every other one, while regular 2 million (?) players suffer.
I doubt that the patch was balanced around competitive play entirely. Also, there are well over 80 million players worldwide, bud.
It could be because everyone is playing snowballs Champions now. Every game ive been in so far is just a bunch of squishies all try to blow each other up. Naturally games like that will go fast...

no, they want the game to snowball, and be done by 20-30 minutes in. This is for two reasons:
People don't want to play 40 minute games
People REALLY don't want to watch 40 minute LCS games with no fights.
So, now every change is about one thing = force a flashy fight, early and often. Which leads to the game as it is now, which is basically "Did we get first blood and another advantage in the first 5 minutes? Sweet, we win."
Wait until the minion changes go live, you think this is snowbally now?
just played a game mom wanted me for 30 sec game snowballed so bad and i could not hold mid. This was at 5 min in game, it ended under 20 min... i liked the 40 min games.
The minions are a double-edged sword. If you don't take advantage of their strength, the enemy can farm them relatively safely.
I believe Riot has made multiple changes in the past to prevent heavy snowballing. It's understandable that they're trying to hasten games though I enjoyed longer games.
faster games can be encouraged without snow balling. I'm okay with faster games (when I have the time I like longer games, but I admit I don't always have the time to commit to them), but I still want to feel like more then the first play of the game matters, even if it is a 20 minute game.

Right lol I haven't played a game with a single tank at all usally 5 ad squishies

People are picking early game snowball champs because thats all that it matters atm
Lee sin,Elise,J4 are insane atm..
People aren't trading objectives and it makes it seem more snowbally. Even when behind you can get objectives quickly. Pressure seems more important than ever. Junglers will have a lot to do this season and a lot of pressure on them to perform and get off ganks.

I would guess Cross map objectives would be easier if taking them were easier.
YoloQ or otherwise, it's harder to make informed decisions on cross map objectives because the vision has been reduced.
den buy wards...
den buy wards...
you mean the 75 GP wards that are limited to one at a time and are visable?
Right, same thing as being able to buy and place 3 Green wards.
Hint: They don't want vision, it's why they are making it so hard. Vision = you can make smart decisions and fight when you choose. They want team fights early and often.
The LCS was a joke this year because the teams would farm for 40 minutes before one decisive fight at an objective. That's why they want vision to be weaker, so teams will fuck up and get in un planned fights.
actually, they made vision for supports harder, but the did boost the ability for non-supports to contribute to the vision game. I'm not that high a ranking, and I'm sure it's better higher up in the skill levels, but I see all the time carries not using their trinkets now. Perhaps as others learn to use their trinkets the vision game will be better. It will just take time for people to finally get that supports can't do that alone.
Join Dominion :D there is no snow balling unless ur bot sucks horribly :p
