The real issue with snowballing right now....

Is that it makes anyone not part of it a spectator.

I can't tell you how many games I've been in a tight battle with the enemy laners only to realize 10 min in that either one of my teammates or the enemy is already 7/0 and has taken 3 towers. At this point, I just get to watch the snowball happen, either in my favor or not, but what I do doesnt really matter. To test this, I've played several games where I was totally disengaged and did nonsense, and the same thing happened.

The problem is that by eliminating my participation in the game if I'm not the one snowballing, you eliminated my fun. Fun drives gameplay, and therefore the only way to have fun is pick a snowbally champ and try to be the one who snowballs.

So what is every game? Two teams of snowball champs doing their best to be the ONE that gets to actually play the game while everyone else watches them win. **This is NOT what a strategic moba is all about, and it is not why I started playing this game. **

I am not going to weigh in with this fielding of participation or suchness that you mentioned above.

However I will say the flaw with league has always been this... "It takes 1 person to lose, it takes 5 to win". Meaning it just takes 1 person doing poorly to get someone ahead for your entire team to eventually lose, but it still takes an entire team to win.

That is the fundamental reason behind league and is the primary reason behind most of the toxicity in the game. People hate the fact that their "judgement" from Riot is completely based on whether they win or lose and their individual performance and the performance of their team members has no baring.

Alot of other popular games like CoD are able to completely get around this kind of stuff because a huge majority of your end game rewards are based on your individual performance and you simply get a bonus if you win. go 30 and 0 but still lose? you probably do not really care.

League is different. It is a much more complicated and larger game. I used to think it would be impossible for Riot to accurately rank a players performance in a game and to some extent that is true, they will never be able to nail it, but since they introduced the mastery scoring system they have provided in-game proof that they can at some capacity rank your performance. Everyone's opinion of how well this system measures your performance is completely subjective to your personal opinions. Some people will say it is close, others will say it is really dumb.

From what I understand the system ranks your performance against other games of the same champion.

Anyway it would be nice to see Riot move off at some capacity from the super rigid and very old fashioned. Win or Lose complete judgement. Riot will never be able to say "you went 0/7 in the laning phase, therefor you lose LP and the rest of your team wont". Riot has had years to look at reducing punishments for losing because of 1 player and they have not for a couple reasons. First they would rather not even consider building such a system because it could be easily exploited by a few. So they chose to keep it out because of a really small percentage who would take advantage of it. The 2nd point is Riot ultimately is not smart enough to build it if they wanted too. Way to many variables for a computer to know accurately.

Since league is supposed to be a team game I would of liked to see Riot move onto a system that rewards just that. Fighting as a team and pushing objectives to the ultimate goal of victory. If your team loses a 50min game, but you managed to get a baron, 3 dragons, and 7 turrets. In Riot's eyes that doesn't matter even though you were playing the game and ultimately doing what Riot wants you to do.

No I would like to see the IP and LP system adapted to reflect the games design which is to push or take objectives toward victory.

Anyway it is so nice to dream, but Riot will never do anything like this. I mean we are dealing with game designers who are so disconnected from the community that they didn't think removing soloQ and ranked teams would be a problem. I really wonder how some people get these jobs when they are so completely unqualified.

Honestly, it always felt that way.

Whole team required to win, but only one dimwit to lose.

Except, in previous seasons there was always something you could do to work around the loser. This season it feels, as you said, like being a spectator.

I've been such a loser once.

I rolled top, picked Fiora and ended up aganist the new Poppy. As soon as she hit level 3 she... tower dove me, pinned to my tower and killed me at full health, while she left with about 50% health. Granted the server was funny at the time and riposting the little bitch's headbutt was nearly impossible. Since then I couldn't even stand near minions without dying. After 10 minutes, I was 0/7 at level 4 with 20 CS, while she was at level 8 with 100 CS.

I don't remember something like that ever happening to anybody in my four years of playing this game.

Well, once in Season 3, in Silver 5, at mid, aganist Akali, but it was simply so bad I felt guilty for laning aganist her. I mean, it wasn't the case of her being tower dived every time she came back to lane after level 3 or something, but overextending and not playing safe at all.

I can not tell you how much i agree with this statement.

agree, i feel like i'm heavily constraint to massive snowball champs if i want to win. Even if i snowball, if i have a more uztillity based champ it doesn't matter if another opponent also snowballs. Last summoners i played i went top as lulu vs akali. i went 3/0/1 in the first 10 mins, takeing a herald with my jungler and takeing her Tower. After that i mostly roamed, beein 6/2/7 at 20min, haveing a total of 3 heralds and 2 towers i ended wth 9/8/15 not feeling able to do anything relevant past 20 min cause their kogmaw got fed and had a janna with him, and if you'd try hard on him, yasuo and akali would just clean.

Either you play a champ that can easily kill the oppsing carry on his own if fed, or you get your carry fed and hope theirs doesn't, while spectateing the game. Aditionally, most champs have become so extreme in their strengths and weaknesses that a game can't be won past champselect, it can only be lost by a (massive) missplay of the team with the superior draft...

Depends.

The further you go up. You start noticing tempo.

Yeah, there are games where the

Renekton Shits on everyone and 1v4s the opposing team and wins the game as a monster.

And then there's other games where the

12/1/5Renekton Ends the game 12/9/7 While the other team head longs to victory due to scaling.

The current problem League faces is that there's like 13 very problematic champions that do their jobs way too good while remaining versatile enough to fill otherroles at the same time.

Graves Like this guy. It's funny because the very crappy love tap made him "go away" But he's still definitely a #1 solid pick. People act like 60 damage on his rank 5 Q made him him trash when it's his early game that had the 69% win rate.

to summarize what I mean.

Graves IS/Was a tank, sustained, burst, ranged, melee, bruiser, assassin, high mobile, pick orientated, heavily team fight based, objective taking based, skirmisher, split pusher, 1v5, top, mid, jungler, support, adc based champion that could walk up and get triple kills with just item 1041 in the enemy jungle after invading them because he has the safest + fastest clear in the game. And with storm raiders surge he can kite + out range + out damage + out tank with 0 worry.

There are literally 0 down sides to picking this champion. If you go look at the challenger roster there was only 3 people out of 200 that didn't have Graves as a most played champ.

Graves Ezreal Malphite Fiora Lucian Corki Elise Nautilus Udyr Nidalee Janna Are currently the most problematic champs in the game. They currently do their jobs in ways nobody else can do, and do it with such effectiveness that they actually use these advantages to perform other niche activities that other champs were designed to do, only better than them.

For example Ashe You pick her for "kiting + giant team fighting pick roaming ult + early game cheese"((Ashe has no real mid game.)) You pick her to abuse 10% damage amp and ride that through early game with ult picks and end the game before the enemy adc builds items and eventually out damages you.

Why even bother with that, when you can just pick . . .Lucian Kill the other adc at level 2. Snow ball. Do more damage than Ashe anyways. Out farm the other adc. Out maneuver, Group mid, and shove doing more damage than Ashe anyways.

Or, why not pick Ezreal And abuse item 3025 Which is Ashes passive, only can be used from a galaxy away on a 1 second cd Q with unlimited mana while also doing 1/4th the life of squishies with Q, and 3/4ths their life with a 20 second ultimate.

With these two around, there's no reason to even pick Ashe. Literally. None.

The game isn't exactly snowbally atm, it's more that a very select few champions are so good at their roles that they actually do multiple roles through being so strong at one role that once they get ahead you can't kill them.

Fiora Is supposed to be this . . . weird squishy dueling assassin bruiser that's really good at 1v1s and requires abusing a passive.

What she actually is is a Renekton with an additional mid + late game with Riven Mobility with Malphite Nautilus defenses. So if you lose to her early game, she becomes unkillable late and mid game because she builds 40% cdr + tank and indirectly does more damage than assassins do while remaining unkillable, and uncatchable. The only real way you can even kill her is by 1v5 gang banging her and hoping she doesn't kill 3 of you and get away/have team help to kill the other 2. So, it's not even worth dealing with her.

If those champs weren't so good at their jobs currently, this game would probably be a lot more balanced and fair tbh.

Riot wants snowballing, they want games to end quicker. That's why winning teams have minions with better stats.

If it's the adc, maybe. Top lane doesn't matter. Only adcs.

Yeah it's not fun unless you are carrying.

That's why the circlejerky champs are so popular. They are really good at carrying.
