So I see that tribunal is still not back....

Interesting how Riot talks nonstop about how they don't institute rules but lets the community decide what is acceptable or not but then removes the communities only means of doing this.

Listen Riot, all I want is some communication and consistency. If you want to make the rules and police them yourselves, then give me the friggin rules that you will be policing. If you want the community to police what is generally acceptable behavior, then give us back the tribunal.

I, for one, am sick of not knowing what is going on. I have to wonder whether the guy that follows me around the jungle all game stealing the camps is reportable, or if it does anything to report him. Why? Because you have no rules set forth and i have no means of having him sent to my peers who understand that that crap isnt ok.

Edit: As Riot is trying to work on communication, and responding to hundreds on nonsense threads about art and "will you play with me for my 1000 game!" they are apparently too busy to address this question.

**RIOT, WE ARE WAITING TO HEAR WHAT YOU ARE ACTUALLY GOING TO DO WITH THE TRIBUNAL. QUIT THE BS AND GIVE US AN ANSWER. **

They are working on it.

SOON(tm)

(No, seriously, they wont rework tribunal, its a lot easier to just have an automated system for them, no matter that it cannot read context or things like that)

How is it easier to program and tweak an automated system then to just hand the problems to the community?

It's done automated now because it's more efficient now despite what distorted reality some people are living in.

More efficient by what standards? Less people look at it and more people get banned, but does that mean it works better? Not even close. More people are banned for saying "gg ez" and less people are banned for actually ruining games with toxicity. So more people get banned, but less toxicity is dealt with, that is not better.

Silents4297 votes

Based off what? Where are you getting this information?

xReadyPlayerOnex8 votes

Experience. And dealing with RIOT customer service "behavior team" is like dealing with a Cartmans Mom (please don't ban me for saying that... Queue's Song :D).

Seriously though, I got banned for saying "you lucky fat bastard..." to gragas. Who lol'd. It's a friggin Austin Powers joke. Not toxicity. Don't believe me? I could quote the email I have from RIOT saying exactly what I just said.

Bolwinkel8 votes

Wait Riot actually gave you chat logs of what you said? Whenever i try to get chat logs of what I said that got me put on chat restriction, they just say that they will not disclose this information and other crap in the copy and paste system.

Fight with them for about a month, eventually one of the nicer people will show up and help you

Silents4297 votes

No, You do not use personal experience as a source of information, Do you even realize what you are arguing? The entire behavior and punishment system for a 60+ million playerbase, and you want to base your "facts" off of your own experience?

You want the tribunal back, because the system didn't recognize you were just joking?

Troll for Trump2 votes

"he entire behavior and punishment system for a 60+ million playerbase, and you want to base your "facts" off of your own experience?

You want the tribunal back, because the system didn't recognize you were just joking?" Because pretty sure half the people have been wrongly banned by thier shtty system. Even riot admitted a ton of ppl have been wrongly banned when chat restrictions first came out, with tons of false ban waves. Stop being a white knight.

It's hard to get a source. The database is server sided.

Well, at least they gave their experience. You are just doing nothing but acting smart.

Silents4292 votes

My experience with the game is that I don't encounter problematic people nearly as often as some people want others to think.

My experience with the game is that the occasion I ever would have to mute someone I actually do it and move on instead of telling the boards about it.

Except I don't base information off of that, I base it off of how laughable some people on these boards take themselves, and Lyte posting on the blogs describing how the system works.

But go figure, Riot is obviously a bunch of greedy liars who, that's the only explanation.

Troll for Trump1 votes

Stop being a white knight. Fun fact. Riot spouts numbers from the top of their hat. Why don't you go up to them, be a smartass, and say "source??" Yeah. No. Source for 60+million active nonbot players in playerbase? Didn't think so. Personal experiences don't apply? Source? Didn't think so(also personal experiences are pretty much used for feminism arguments)

Source source source source. Yeah stop.

Silents4292 votes

If I am a white knight for asking for sources beyond personal experiences, then what are the whiny bitches that pull everything out of there ass for the sake of complaining more?

Troll for Trump1 votes

if I am a whiny bitch then what are those people who spread around lies and try to pretend to be smart, but fail miserably?

Silents4292 votes

Where have I lied?

Onegarion2 votes

Personal experience is only anecdotal at best. Its the same with any study or information from an extremely small or restricted sample size. 2 people can have completely different experiences because they have many different variables. If you were able to take the experiences of even 5% of the population where each person recorded each game to the T with examples and everyone came together and shared the info and THEN if you found patterns you could draw conclusions, but 1 person's own experience means very little when it comes to stats.

Riot may not put out their own sources which is a very bad practice if you want people to believe and trust your word, but it does have a much larger and better defined sample group to pull from. Does it mean its 100% correct? No, but it has much more merit than a sample size <10.

Also I'm not sure what political groups have to do with any of this. What they do doesn't make them right or make him wrong for asking for reliable sources. Anyone who plays mainly off of personal experience is bound to fail in any capacity when it comes to discussions and making it hold any ground.

Source that riot actually got the data from multiple people?

"Also I'm not sure what political groups have to do with any of this." It was a joke that's why there are two posts

"Anyone who plays mainly off of personal experience is bound to fail in any capacity when it comes to discussions and making it hold any ground." Tell that to almost all the guidemakers for mobafire and whatnot.

Onegarion1 votes

You can try to doubt that riot got it from multiple people, but thats just trying to force doubt that won't stand. They have millions of players every day. THey have a ton of data that they get from every game about players, stats, and more. There are clear lines where they pull it from and to think they don't have/use it is really ignorant.

You mistook this completely. People that make GOOD guides (because you have to emphasize it) play the game with that champ many times over against many champs. Having someone from Bronze 5 with only 10 ranked games with that champ (since ranked games are the only real way of monitoring play on 1 champ for us) isn't going to have a good guide with how each matchup is suppose to play out or what a good build/build path is. They don't know the ins and out to give a good guide. The players that give good in depth guides have put in more games. They do many things the opposite of the bad guide maker. This also ties completely in because a good guide isn't always right or perfect. 1 guide may be a good guide against AP champs, but shit against AD or when playing from behind. No 1 guide is the ultimate way to look at a champ.

The same is true here in what I said. Taking all the information from 1 person or 1 small sample size (1 guide maker) can leave a wide gap in actual information. When you take all the good guides and put them together you can get a much more complete picture than just taking 1. The same is true with the personal experiences being only anecdotal. Sure 1 person's experience may be a good picture, but it could be an outlier. You can't tell if someone getting 1 rager in 10 games is normal or an outlier by looking at just that person. You need to compare them with many others. This is why you can't try to argue from your own personal experience and why you are bound to fail when it comes to discussions. You can give your experience, but if it doesn't line up with others you are cast aside and if you do line with others it gets lost because its so normal.

Bastard Chief1 votes

I'm sorry but riots chat restrictions ban is supposed to be 100% accurate meaning it never fails. If you said "you lucky fat bastard" or "gg ez" or anything like that whether you're joking or not, that's a bannable offense.

It's like making a racist joke, and acting like it isn't bad just cause you were making a joke.

I been hit with hundreds of chat restrictions, so yeah. Also, they did show me the chat log of what I said once when they banned me for 14 days.

Troll for Trump1 votes

Yeah dude I would be banned too if my username had porn in it twice.

Jet Sett1 votes

As someone who's faced racial discrimination, I can't believe you compared a racist joke to a fat joke with a swear. I also find most lighthearted jokes about weight amusing despite being an overweight person myself. Besides, Gragas IS fat, and I can't imagine someone taking a lighthearted joke personally especially in the case that it's referring to an in-game character and not a player.

Bastard Chief1 votes

Also, if someone made a gragas being fat joke and was reported and hit with a chat restriction because of it, still the person was saying something that can be looked at as offensive I guess.

The guy who DID THE REPORTING probably knew 100% it was a light hearted joke, but being a troll, they'd find something that could be looked at as negative and report them for it. Because they lost the game, or because they may have been insulted before hand or something, or hell, maybe just 100% full on trolling, reporting anyone that says anything lol.

Revive Aatrox1 votes

maybe the player base is in fact really smaller then what it is since lots of people have two or more accounts and LOTS OF BOTS where being injected in the system because of ''refer a friend'' system. But wait we should never said it too loud that League of Legend clearly doesnt have near has much player as anyone think.

Silents4291 votes

They base the stats off of active accounts, and the banning system finds bots a lot better now.

From what I recall, the system is more based on the number of games you're reported in, not the number of individual reports you actually accrue. If you get reported 9 times over the course of 9 games that is significantly worse than if you got reported 9 times in one game. What that would mean is that you potentially ruined or otherwise made unpleasant the game for 81 players as opposed to a mere 9 who might have merely been bandwagon reporting. Notice though, I said potentially because not everyone will have a game ruined or made unpleasant by the same set of actions.

AMYS GRAVE1 votes

Basically this. It's not the volume of reports but the fraction of games reported in, and the severity of the detected behavior.

The tribunal was fine. Functioned. And should be brought back

Summonerrr 18 votes

I've seen a rise in threads about this, so I'm just going to say it. I'm tired of sugar coating it, so here it is:

Riot said THE TRIBUNAL would be back by the end of 2k15. It's September now.

They said they'd upgrade THE TRIBUNAL, not replace it. The tribunal. Not reform cards, not LPQs, not machine learning, THE TRIBUNAL.

They either need to own up and say they lied (saying you're going to do one thing and doing another is lying in my book, and pretty much any sensible persons) , or get their shit together and keep to their word.

This bullshit ambiguous palpable silence on the topic in an effort to create plausible deniability does nothing but piss people off and make them trust Riot less as a company. If there is rising concern about a topic, Actively avoiding addressing that topic gets you nothing but bad blood.

BRING THE TRIBUNAL BACK.

VengefulMarv7 votes

The current system is definitely a joke. I'm getting to the point where I'll need to take a hiatus from League soon. Riot will not be getting any of my money anytime soon. They've made it abundantly clear that they care more about E-sports than the rest of the player-base. You want to know how bad it is? Anytime you see an article about League on a common-usage website (Yahoo, CNN, etc) the comments contain a RIDICULOUS amount of people talking about how bad our community is.

Sure, some are probably just quoting hearsay. Sure, some might even be shills playing other games and bashing this one. But with the sheer amount of stuff like that I see, it's obviously a real problem. Just look at all the posts about it on the forums. But oh no... Lyte knows better than we do.

While I feel as though I would like the Tribunal in place, I also know that stuff like people getting banned cause someone was playing Teemo happens. Yes Teemo is the devil and all, but people reporting them for playing him, then people getting punished for it... unacceptable. With all the broken champs in rotation these days, you dont think it would happen again.

You dont think some people, enough people, think "Cancer Ahri mid... yeah, stfu is pretty toxic, ban em."

So we get this nonsense automated system, because some people cant read context either.

Well even in the original tribunal if someone was voted to be punished by a majority it was still reviewed by Riot before any punishment was issued. So these situation still wouldn't happen. I would also like to imagine that after an entire year of working on it, it would function even better than it did before, but i know that might be a tad optimistic

Beating a dead horse brother. I have been poising this question for months. Primarily because I've noticed a big rise in toxicity amongst players. i guess they like to treat us like mushrooms... keep us in the dark and feed us $***. It would be nice to communicate to the players what's underway and what the plan is.. but the project skins are more important.

Could not agree with this more. The automated systems are nice (I guess?) for catching verbal abusers, but this is very far from a perfect system.

Last night I had a Gangplank top lane. Our Thresh DCed early but our Kalista was holding her own (nearly matching farm and staying above 50% HP in a 2v1). I was playing jungle and committed to a bad gank top, leading to a double kill on the enemy Fiora. Totally my fault. Totally admitted to it.

GP then proceeds to stay in the fountain for the rest of the game, saying it is lost but won't forfeit. Our Thresh returns a few minutes later and we start winning 4v5 teamfights. GP still stays in the base. After our team agrees to report him for his behavior his response was: "I've been playing for six years. They will never ban me. I haven't said anything verbally abusive and I'm not AFK."

Sadly, he's probably right. He never used foul language and was never AFK by the strictest sense of the word.

Riot, there are more toxic Summoners than just verbal abusers or AFKers.

You know, I'm not against the automated systems entirely. If you use a racial, homophobic etc. slur you deserve immediate (as in automated) punishment. I know there is a mute option and I consider myself fairly thick skinned, but the willingness to use that sort of language in a public forum is directly correlated to the sort of behavior we don't want on our teams.

But you, and sadly the GP, are absolutely correct. He dodged the automated system by not being a complete idiot and will probably walk away to troll another game in the future.

We haven't seen any updates on tribunal in awhile, which makes me thing it's not going to happen?

Now, tribunal was one of the first things I really wanted to do, before I got ranked hype or anything, and it made me feel like I was not only making a difference but part of the community.

The fact that it's been down so long makes me pretty sad.
