Will new Warding Totem invalidate Sightstone?

All in the title. Can supports pretty much get away with just buying normal wards until 9, letting them buy normal items?

You're forgetting about the Farsight Orb's buff. That, along with Sightstone, can give a TON of vision from just one person. I think the Greater Warding Totem's buff is more for people with full(ish) builds who don't have room for regular wards.

Definitely not in competitive. You could probably get away with it in solo q. It's not that cost efficient to do so and sightstone is overall just a better item because of the way the wards charge.

Maaaaaaaaybe. But you can't get it until level 9, no? Also a big part of supporting is also deleting wards with Oracles.

No, because Sightstone is a better investment for the gold over straight-up buying 3 stealth wards every back till level 9. 800 gold dropped into a Sightstone will save you money (infinite free refills) and give you health vs having to drop 225 gold in pure consumeables per back.

Even after the yellow upgrade, GST is on a 60-sec cooldown/recharge. While Sightstone doesn't recharge, it also doesn't cool down. You need vision right now? Sightstone can drop three wards on a dime. GST can't.

nope, as you not only loose out on one ward, you also have a worse gain in wards(1 every 60sek instead of 4-5 every recall). But mostly you miss out on another trinket, and having a oreacle lense is pretty damn important, as a supports job is not only placeing wards, but also clearing them. The buffed orb also can be potentionally strong)
