Auto-fill at Diamond is basically a guaranteed loss, when is this going to be disabled?

I'd rather sit in a queue for 5-10 minutes than get into a game that I'm guaranteed to lose because one of the players on my team has no idea how to play their auto-filled role.

That's not how it works. It wouldn't be just "5-10 minutes". Think of matchmaking as a production line. here are 5 stations (roles) that need to produce one unit before a game can be shipped out the door. Now one or two stations are producing units slower than the rest. What happens is the other stations keep pumping out units that have nowhere to go. The assembly line backs further and further and further up the more time passes. The more time that passes, the further the line backs up. We're talking hours of queue times for the roles people queue up for more. This is where autofill comes in. Autofill balances the production rates between all the stations. Now there is no more backup.

So you have two options:

  1. Deal with autofill

  2. Remove role selection and go back to pick order where you get people in off roles way more frequently anyway

"Remove autofill" literally*** is not an option***. Period. If you want to keep role selection then you have to deal with autofill.

This. Autofill is mandatory. It is not optional.

flex queue worked fine

3 hours in queue

"Huh it seems today I won't be playing any games. Better than getting autofilled though!"

When we had flex queue season 6, there was no autofill. Just pick 2 roles.

It also forced premades to cover more roles before allowing them to queue. For example, you could not queue up as a 4 man without at least one person having each of the 5 roles selected as primary or secondary. Plus, flex is notorious for having outstandingly shitty matchmaking

That's still a thing lol

That mostly because people in groups had different ranks. Still, having a guy play a role that he doesn't play isnt better. When I get filled top I'm feeding 100% lol

Uhh... quality games hasn't been a priority in a LOOOOOOOOONG time dude lol.

Doubt that is going to change anytime soon

Get good at other roles.

They're complaining about other people getting roles they can't perform. Getting good yourself doesn't work like that lol.

Please stop posting about queue times if you've never been Diamond I, which I have. Queue times were not nearly as bad as you seem to think they are.

Even now, I often get auto fills after only 1-2 minutes in queue. It's very clearly aggressively trying to start games.

Seeing as people in Diamond > master > and challenger were all complaingin about the constant Hr + que times regularly before autofill, yes it is a huge issue.

Honestly if I had to wait an hour to play a 30-45 min game I'd just play norms. Or move onto something else.

Yeah, now people say "I wouldnt mind the extra wait if that means i dont have to fill support" when literally, they added autofill because people hated waiting an hour or more to play games lmao.

The population was significantly smaller and matchmaking was less aggressive. Queues were never up to an hour while Master existed; they might have pushed 30 minutes if you queued at 4:00 AM on a Wednesday at Challenger in S3, but the searching range was increased in S4 to stop this.

You have no idea what you're talking about, please stop posting on topics you have zero experience with.

Not to mention on stream streamers would constantly wait 1+ hours back in Season 6 in Master - Challenger. Thats the reason why they invented autofill was so que times could shrink.

Its nice that you are diamond 3 and all but no one really cares about you flaunting your rank

Something something long queue times

Pika Fox3 votes

It physically cannot be disabled unless you want to wait 2+ hrs for a queue. And thats on a good day. Youre looking at 3-4 hour queues easily without autofill.

it's funny because autofill was really only introduced because of diamond+ elo

been saying this for years man. it doesn't matter. last year I literally got demoted and tilted from d2 to d5 cuz every game was "sry im autofilled" when they went 0/10. and now it's happening again in d2, but I stopped playing for now.

btw, maybe q times wouldn't be that bad, since a lot of changes were made for the support role. more people are playing it.

"more people" and by more people you mean what? 2% more? 3% more? there are less people also playing top lane... so now you have 2 roles that people are not really playing... also a lot of people still don't like the support role and still call it the "ADC bitch" role. Queue times will still be really bad if not even worst than before

yeah, it's better that the game is decided by who has an autofill player in diamond. quality of games is really good when you ff at 15 or they kill your nexus at 20 mins. so good.

they could also make the autofill a voluntary choice and see what happens when people turn it off.

yes let's have people make the "voluntary" choice of turning it off and see how high queue times rise and then people will complain that queue times are too high... sorry but you either get auto fill or we get rid of this role selection thing and go back to "i want this role you want it? sorry i am first and you are last go F yourself!" which will force you even harder to learn every single role

Escheton1 votes

Learn to support as secondary. Queue as support main role when autofill is up. No tilt, prepped mindset. Ready to shred. Then go back to whatever your role is. There are enough viable support champs that everyone can find their niche.

I thought in dia+ everyone just put in 'fill' so they didn't have to wait 1 hr to get into game, then they just negotiated in chat

3 years ago, we all had to play multiple roles consistently. With the current system, you play one role 90% of the time and you're out of practice with all of your off roles, which isn't acceptable at a Diamond level.

Does the current system somehow prevent you from keeping "in practice" with multiple roles? Are you forced to queue with your main as primary every time?

Your rank reflects your proficiency with the GAME not a ROLE or a CHAMPION.

Your rank SHOULD be based off the depth of knowledge you have with the game as a whole.

Compared to Overwatch's blind select random comp generation simulator, auto-fill is the best thing ever.
