I can't bring myself to consider Flex Queue to be competitive.

Maybe it's just me, but even when I try to take the queue seriously, half of the other players don't. Not to mention that it's inherently a less competitive environment than Solo/Duo because of the number of uncontrolled variables.

I've just started using it for practice. People treat normals like a joke, so it doesn't REALLY help me practice for ranked, whereas Flex Queue is played in a fashion similar to Solo/Duo while still being forgiving because the rank doesn't REALLY feel like it matters.

Am I alone in this?

Does solo/duo feel competitive? More often than not it seems one team is way more stacked than the other and games are literally 90% predictable in the loading screen.

Flex q will be my new draft normals

Exactly. It feels like normal draft but even better for practice because at least some of your teammates will take it seriously, so you'll get some actual practice.

Yea, it feels the same way for me. I will just play flex queue when I want to try something new, but in a more serious environment.
