Why Zed is Zed
Before I speak about my opinions on Zed. I would like to say that I am not a pro player, nor am I a very good player. What I am, is a player who is just average and plays mid lane champions, that obviously being Zed.
To start off. I am going to Zed currently is one of the healthy champions in the meta right now. Yes we have a new season, yes things will be unbalanced, yes mobility will be OP, but that is not the point. That point is how a champion can stand against all odds. So what does balance mean to you? Does it mean seamlessly nerfing champions because 1: They are too strong and do too much damage 2: They have too much mobility, or does it mean giving the champion a means of counter play and rewards. So you might say well... "Zed has no counter play and he can just 100-0 your ADC no problem right?" That is where your wrong. If you think of Zed's kit, it is pure assassin. Any other role wouldn't really make sense. He has his shadows to have outplay potential because of his squishy play style, but he has a high skill cap to achieve the maximum outplay. His Q being a skill shot as well accounts to his high skill cap. His team fight capabilities aren't good either so he is best at picking off people.
So back to Zed being able 100-0 an ADC easily with just 2 items, it not that easy. His ult alone has so many counters, that being: Flash, Barrier, Heal, Exhaust, CC, Zhonyas, Quicksilver, GA, Any form of invisibility/dash. I might have missed some, but those are the main ones. Zed being a very ult reliant champion to shutdown the enemy ADC , having all these counters to his one very delete spell is OP right? If the ADC is smart, they would know how to avoid Zed.
Going into his laning phase, It actually isn't very strong unless your playing against someone who truly doesn't know how to dodge skill shots. Yes zed can increase his range with his shadows to apply his damage but how easy is it to sidestep his Q? Not only that if Zed didn't have energy refund on using abilities with his shadows he wouldn't be able to do his full combo. His high energy costs make Zed very risky because he needs to choose not to waste his abilities.
So to end off my opinion on Zed. I may have missed some crucial points about him, but I have also referred to his main points of why people always say Riot needs to nerf Zed. On the other hand I would love to see your insight towards zed. Always remember if you don't want a Zed to 100-0 you. Don't let him.
