In praise of "Faceroll Champions"

I personally found that playing easy champions is much more enjoyable and in general makes you a much better player than if you would play difficult high mechanical champions.

First of all, the fact that it's not nearly as stressful. Trying to play difficult champions like for example Riven, Yasuo, Fiora, Gangplank etc. Tried all of them, fed my ass off and immidiately told myself "nope". To get good at these champions, you have to play 25+ games first until you even get the hang of them. This won't be a lot of fun. And even IF you manage to master them, playing them at that point will be really stressful still since when you fuck up with them it just feels horrible, you have to keep track of so many things at the same time, just not a lot of fun at all and extremely straining for your mental health. Well, for mine at least.

If you just play something like Garen, Malphite, Warwick etc. instead, you will have a much more fun time. You don't need to keep track of many things which gives you much more time to concentrate on the macro play, on top of giving you the edge over enemy players who simply don't know what they're doing. With Garen etc., it's really hard to not know what you're doing, so you won't have that problem. You also don't need a lot of time to master them, play 5 games and you mastered them, ezpz.

And what I might hear you say, isn't that somewhat boring? No, absolutely not. Since all these champions are really easy to play, your champion pool naturally increases. Instead of playing 1-4 champions that are really difficult, how about 20+ that are really easy to play. It won't get boring and will make your pick phase much more dangerous and you in general just better at winning ranked since you have an answer for everything.

I can see where some of the Yasuo, Riven, GP and Fiora mains are coming from, you are my fellow toplaners after all, but if you feel really stressed out and you are sick and tired of it all just bust out the faceroll again from time to time to try and enjoy the game for once. Who knows, maybe you'll even like it better.
