So Maokai's Q knocks back, but are knock-backs different then knock-ups?

Im wondering if they're the same as a Knock-up since Yasou ulted off a Maokai Q. Then I QQ'd.

knock back makes you move, knock up you stay in the same location. Both aren't affected by tenacity.

Yes maokai q procing yasuo ult is intended.
