The thing about them always bringing up about Riot joking last year makes no sense. They called it NURF mode for crying out loud! Did anyone really think they were joking?

Because it was quite obvious that they were joking then. Now, they have given no reason to suspect that they were joking, and have in fact clarified multiple times that URF mode would not be coming for April fools

I always knew (and kinda preached here) that NURF was a joke and we were getting URF, just because NURF was a game mode that was funny once and that's all, then it just gets really boring.

And I knew, because it was obvious, that we wasn't getting URF this year. If they wanted to joke about it they would have said it yesterday, not a month before in the midst of a serious post.

They abused our trust with their stunt last year and we expected it. They failed to deliver and let the community as a whole down. And then an URF skin to rub it in...

Except they prefaced their NURF stunt, with small teasers, only to reveal the real URF the day before or so.

And, not to be hostile, but how did they "fail to deliver"? They said they weren't doing URF, without any joke prefacing it, talking about the Rotating Que. Nowhere did they lead anyone along.

What I said was correct. In terms of the original post, We trusted them to give us URF, since the same situation (URF on April 1) happened last year and in a similar manner (they made a joke saying no URF).

I saw posts on reddit and the like about people taking a week off work just for this because they were expecting urf and were really looking to spam it. So for those people, it was an inconvenience I guess. Not defending the analogy though, it's extreme lol

Tbh especially after last year, while I kinda figured they were serious, part of me felt they weren't. I'm kinda disappointed with how it was this year (not because no urf mode, but rather what came instead of was kinda disappointing). Obvious cash grab, kinda sick of Draven after the joke being overused a lot today, etc. The one thing they did right was the caster event, but it got pretty cringeworthy with too much Draven not too long in.

To be fair, people assumed that there would be an URF, when Riot said they weren't planning to. They assumed, they inconvenienced themselves. Riot didn't do that.

Sure, no one at Riot did that. But a lot of people who play their game are pretty upset about a perceived loss of entertainment nonetheless.

It still means that, effectively, the folks at Riot can either to do nothing to change people's minds, or they can address the situation in some way. (Mind the split infinitive.)

what i don't get is it being an obvious cash grab, which has been said by more people than just you. like sure, they released new skins for the event, but nobody is obligated or forced to buy them now any more than they'd have to buy a regular skin. they made no more money off of draven day than they would've during urf, or any other day of the year

Rotation que is on PBE, following the usual 2 week patch schedule that they normally do.

Also, like said in the OP, you know what assuming does... Finally, they NEVER said they were bringing URF April 1st, so you can't even "assume" that they'd bring it back. You let yourself down, with your own assumed expectations, not Riot.

And, looking ahead, they decided to have the people responsible for alternate game modes work on putting out a rotating game mode queue. Obviously, our incredible insight into Riot's workload pipeline and decision process tells us they made a huge mistake.

If you're a dedicated red tracker reader, like I, they talked about in the Dev Corner when they talked about Rotation Que, i believe you find it. If not, and you assumed that Riot was bringing back URF, then it is yourself that let you down, not Riot.

<_< It's more of the anticipation that got me. I was hoping for it and expecting it to come because it was such a success. It's only just an assumption that it would come, and it's very easy to assume it would. I dont think I need to argue this with you, but it's a big let down that they decided not to bring it back. If you disagree, that's all you, and I totally support your thoughts, but I feel as a company, you should market what sells, and if the urf mode was the seller, then I am gonna bring it back. Not ascension. Not any of that other stuff.

Again you're free to think as you want, but my opinion is that they messed up here. If the player base is that dead set on having something, maybe it'd be wise as a company to oblige a simple task. It's not like they'd have to re-script too many things. Only 3-4 more champs came out and like 3-4 reworks. Idk, doesn't seem that big of a deal.

I won't start an argument over this, because we're all entitled to our opinion (EXCEPT WHEN YOU"RE WRONG WRONG WRONG)... ahem, but I will state that trying to do URF would've ended up as a huge allocation of resources.

It's not as simple as just "enable URF" as I'm sure you are aware, but it would've taken time to make sure that URF itself would be compatible with today's current patch, not to mention inner game balancing, and dear god, we all know Azir is going to get a bug from all of it.

I do agree that if you have something that sells, sell the ever living F**k out of it, but I like how Riot is trying to put the future of the game over just two weeks of fun. Once Rotation Que starts up and running ( and we expand the length of it from just weekends to weekdays as well), then it becomes easier to have fun times, instead of limiting it to once a year.

Of course, those are just my thoughts.
