Autofill should not be able to have an impact on how ranked games are played

In what competitive matchmaking are you ever put in a position you play 1 time out of 10?

Overwatch? Nope

Dota? Nope

Heroes of the storm? Nope

Smite? Nope

I could literally give two rats asses if it takes 5+ minutes to find me a game if it means that everyone has the positions they queued up for.

Jungle main getting autofilled into ADC and matched up against an experienced two season ADC? Probably gunna be a one sided lane.

ADC main getting autofilled to mid or support and against a mid or support main? Probably going to be a one sided lane for various reasons.

I really don't understand it, you can't mis match positions and expect for there to be okay out comes.

Like, you're not all of a sudden going to have the same mechanics you do with your main role as you do your autofill role, it doesn't carry over because the champions behave differently. Timings are different. Damage is different. CC is different.

Having autofill in normals because it isn't a ranked ladder environment? Sure

Having autofill in a ranked ladder environment? Not okay

I would feel sorry for people whose games I ruin if I get adc or jg autofill, but instead I just tell them to go deal with riot if they dont like my performance and I just end up being apathetic about it.

It shouldn't work like that, a couple games ago I had an ADC that was autofilled. We literally got him first blood from an invade and he was ahead to start the lane.

You know what happened? He fell behind because his mechanics with ADC champions suck. He couldn't CS as well. He didn't know how to trade. And he stutter stepped more auto attacks than I can count.

He was playing Tristana and he didn't even know how to abuse his range.

Ultimately, his lack of damage and positioning lost us the game to the opposing ADC Jinx who mained ADC

Before autofill everyone except first pick was autofilled.

... But so was the other team.

And what win games? team comp. you ll have to play a role you dont "main" in different mobas regardless of them not having autofill. Auto fill isnt the problem, Players are.

What you just said made no sense. Team comp has nothing to do with what position you are forced to play, other than the ones you chose. The players aren't 100% the issue in that scenario, the system is.

It already takes me 5+ to find a game.

yea. getting a game in 2 mins is neat and all. losing 17lp because my team played poorly is fine. but losing 17lp because the programmers think its a good idea to risk game QUALITY for quantity in a competitive environment. poor decision in my opinion.

You getting autofilled once every X games isnt a good excuse because there have been various times when i would get autofilled, then my next 2 games have autofilled teammates, so it doesnt work out. I would rather wait an extra 5minutes during slow days and play minecraft during the queue than have my games get additional RNG that is against me and the rest of the team.

What they should of done, is have an option to choose between Quality versus Quantity.

I'd choose quality and just play minecraft or fallout shelter to kill the 5mins

Auto Fill was made because of the competitive environment. Lets use an extreme example to demonstrate:

Team A:

  • Challenger Top Main
  • Challenger Jungle Main
  • Challenger Mid Main
  • Challenger Jungle Main, Auto Filled to ADC
  • Challenger Support Main

Team B:

  • Challenger Top Main
  • Challenger Jungle Main
  • Challenger Mid Main
  • Bronze 5 ADC Main
  • Challenger Support Main

Which team do you think would win? My money is on Team A, because there's more to winning at the game than maining a role or winning laning phase, and the Challenger Jungle Main understands more about the game as a whole than the Bronze 5 ADC Main.

That's the idea behind Auto Fill. Yes, it speeds up matchmaking, but it's also trying to find teammates who are better at the game as a whole rather than finding an overall worse player who happens to like playing a particular role.

I've only played a little bit of each of those games, but I don't remember them having a way to pick your role before you got assigned your team. Has that changed, or are they like League of Legends was Season 1 through Season 5, where you had to be able to play all roles decently well.

Thats funny because in reality its more likely to be a DIA/MASTER ADC main vs that challenger jungle main and im willing to bet that team B bot lane will be destroying that lane.

im pretty sure anyone in CHALLENGER can play all roles decently well, but dont expect that shit in bronze/silver/gold/plat and maybe even DIA.

for example im gold and I can 100% garentee you if put an ADC main in my top lane they are going to have a very bad time.
