DQ did nothing for toxicity outside of premades.

^ Title. I was soloing it up one game, I fed, top was flaming our Eve for not ganking, Eve was being passive aggressive, whatever. Game over.

The next game, I bumped into around 6 or so of the players from the previous game. I'm used to that, that's how things worked in anything past D5 when solo queue was the thing.

But this time it was hilariously worse. Our ADC threatened to feed because our jungler wouldn't gank, jungler was flaming both our team and theirs, both top laners were calling each other shit while Riven (also my top laner from last game) was telling Eve (again, from the last game as well, but on their team this time) that she's fucking garbage.

And then my jungler ended the game with, "Report Jhin. Fucking cuck."

DQ has literally done nothing for toxicity in high elos. In fact, IT FEELS WORSE than when solo queue was a thing. The only reason toxicity reports are going down so much is because kiddos are teaming up with their friends and they can flame each other over voice if they actually give a shit to rat out their buddy, and they sure as fuck aren't gonna report him.

Toxic premades are made out of toxic individuals. DQ doesn't do jack shit about toxic individuals, nor should you expect it to. That isn't DQ's problem, despite it having problems.

I didn't expect it to do anything for toxicity

and then Riot's analysts brought it up as one of the very few selling points of DQ.

Cause it does...in a sense:

It doesn't stop them from being toxic. It stops them from being as toxic. Playing with friends lowers people's placement on the toxicity scale since they don't want to harm their friends through their actions, they can just diss you to their buddies on comms/in person, or they're just enjoying themselves enough to not diss you at all. It's not like they magically change for the better, but there's little side effects of playing with friends which makes playing with premades on your team not as bad as playing with a toxic player who's alone.

USUALLY

Wrong

As a solo player for the majority of my games, I can say from experience that there is no decrease in toxicity whatsoever. If anything, the environment is more toxic for me, as premades have a very real tendency to either ignore the in game chat and/or gang up to blame/flame me, as they don't want to "harm their friends".

You can chalk this up to outlier incidents (as I'm sure Riot will) but the fact is that the DQ system encourages this kind of behavior, therefore it WILL happen.

What's more toxic between getting in an argument you wouldn't win even if the people you were arguing with were solo (cause who's going to admit they were wrong on the internet?), or that argument resulting in your laner intentionally feeding/afking/throwing your game cause "fuck you guys"?

Toxic premades are made out of the same stuff that makes toxic individuals. Literally the only difference is that they face threat of friendly fire, so even if they'll still be toxic at all, the damage of that toxicity won't be as bad. That's the cut-n-dry of it.

What are you even trying to say here?

Also, you must be literally illiterate, as you did not even address the actual point I made in my comment. Toxicity is worse for SOLO PLAYERS. SOLO PLAYERS get ganged up on by premades. SOLO PLAYERS get ostracized by the premades with which they are unwillingly matched. SOLO PLAYERS have a substantially less meaningful game experiences due to Dynamic Queue. Obviously general toxicity in ranked will decrease when large premades are allowed to queue together, because they will not harass each other. But they WILL and absolutely DO abuse the solo players they are matched with. If a premade has a toxic player, that player will still be just as toxic as he/she would have been without DQ, but instead of indiscriminate rage against the team, the rage will be focused on the odd-man-out, the solo player. If you do not understand this basic fact, you either do not play ranked, or you are part of the DQ premade problem.

If it's the usual shit toxic people do, nothing stops solo players from doing the same things people accuse premades of doing, but what's worse is that solo players do more than premades because they don't fucking give a shit about you. If John, Billy, and Cynthia go into a queue together and get pissed off at Joe Solo, they may get in a verbal spat, but who's gonna start "running it down mid" or buying 6 tears? The 3 man could do that petty shit, but if John goes toxic, he hurts his friends, who he's going to have to deal with irl afterwards. If Joe goes toxic, he literally can't give any more fucks. That's the phenomenon behind Riot stating that premades are less toxic than solos, because, due to this notion of not wanting to shoot your own foot, they are usually less toxic.

Now, are they not toxic? No, some premades are gonna be toxic. Are they less toxic? Yes...duh.

Cause I honestly can't be bothered to type that up twice.

No one's saying premades can't be toxic. I'm saying that solo players can afford to be more toxic than premades TO SOLOS AND PREMADES. All this fear-mongering about premades being toxic is stupid. "Aw, they don't talk to me as much. TOXIC!"...meanwhile we got dudes intent feeding, buying tears, and squabbling all game long as solo players. Cause they don't give a fuck about anyone else on the team. However pleasant or not a premade is, they aren't going to collectively toss a game as easily or frequently as a solo player can and will. If you choose to ignore that, that's on you.

And this is coming from someone that's played hundreds of ranked games almost entirely solo: THE ONLY PEOPLE BUTT FUCKING MY MATCHES ON PURPOSE ARE MY SALTY SOLO TEAMMATES.

MonkeyMadness1 votes

Of course YOUR OWN premade won't fuck up your game, that goes pretty much without saying. But we aren't talking about those asshat petty trolls that run down mid because they are children and undeserving of their freedom to play the game, we are talking about VERBAL toxicity. I do not care how many times a solo player gets pissy at your premade, that solo player feels a shitload more pressure from you guys than you do from him. Fact. Don't bother attempting to explain that away because it's quite literally no possible. It is 3 or 4 people against 1 person. That player will ALWAYS be the odd man out, and this WILL lead to a much less meaningful game experience for that player, while also increasing just how bad the toxicity can get. Stop talking about the solo experience when you don't even actually play solo. Just stop.

And before you try to flip that on me by saying that I've never played with a premade so how can I comment, well I have. I have a singular friend at around my rank and he has some friends of his own that we occasionally play with. We are usually also in voice chat. Never have I had a real issue with the solo players we were matched with. Occasionally their lack of communication with our group did cause issues, but when conflict arose of these types of issues, it was never the solo players that instigated. Perhaps they defended themselves somewhat harshly, but it was defensive, nonetheless. As much as I hate to admit it, my premade caused a couple of instances of the exact toxicity that I described above. I have been on both sides of this, and it's simply and objectively not a good experience.

And just to cover all my bases here, for any of you that respond to this by saying "just mute the premade and move on", you are also missing the point. Communication is part of the game. To voluntarily discontinue these communications is to take away from the game, thus taking away from the experience. Stop being Riot sympathizers and try to see the real issue here. Solo players are being shit on by Riot games. If you are benefiting from your ranked premades, then good for you, but you are doing so at the expense of people like me.

So in other words, to cut the crap:

Solo players can be as toxic as they want, but premades have to be uber nice to me otherwise it's a problem.

There's no point in furthering this discussion. You're focusing on petty arguing when there's bigger fish to fry, like two solo players can't argue either.

Can you does the readings? Everyone who is toxic deserves to be banned. The issue is, when a premade is toxic, they get 1 report. When a solo player is toxic, they get 4 reports. Does this seem fair to anyone here?

And lets not forget the very real possibility of false reports leading to the ban bot placing restrictions. This is SO much more likely when there are 4 false reports than when there are 1.

Now, either start using your brain before commenting, or just keep your misinformed shit to yourself. Thanks.

Since you have proven time and again that you are not willing to read my comments and analyze them properly, allow me to put this into as simple a format as is possible. I have a feeling that you will still end up flaming me, as you are clearly a toxic individual, but at least I can say that I'm trying.

FACT: premades CAN (and therefore some WILL) gang up on solo players.

FACT: when premades gang up on solo players, the toxicity for that solo player is INFINITELY WORSE than the reverse scenario. A 4v1 argument is just a horrible experience when you are the 1 person compared to when you are in the group of 4.

FACT: there is a ban bot, and it has been known to be incredibly finicky, especially when a large number of reports are issued (http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/VzLZtMLe-toxic-players-ganged-up-on-me-got-me-a-2-week-ban-read-if-you-dont-believe-it)

FACT: DQ is an incredibly polarizing experience when it comes to toxicity. Some people love it and claim that toxicity is reduced. Some people hate it and find themselves in cases of much worse toxicity than in previous seasons. This polarity should raise a huge red flag, as it identifies that something in the system is very clearly not balanced.

MYTH: solo players are more toxic than premades. How can you even say that??? I will agree with you that solo players are ABSOLUTELY more likely to troll games than are premades, but that's not really the topic of discussion here. I would even agree that solo players are more primed to be toxic, but that is honestly due to (at least in a very big way) the frustrations of having to deal with premades.

Also, how dare you accuse me of being an "asshole solo player". I have not received any sanctions since the start of DQ, and even long before that my account has been clean. Yet, I have received warnings that I've been reported in games where I honestly cannot figure out what I said/did that was even received as "toxic". You are seriously naive if you think that your previous statement is at all justified, and even if i was an "asshole solo player" as you suggest, the system is still hugely against me. I WILL get banned for my poor behavior whereas premades only MIGHT get banned for their toxicity. Definition of unfair right there. If something like this system happened in real life, people would start talking about the problems associated with Premade Privilege.

Voluug131 votes

Not really.

The only reason DQ is ''less toxic'' is because premades are bigger and more. Premades wont be toxic between them, they have voice or are friends and are horseing around as a premades knowing the majority will save them from having to face consequences for trolling as a premade, while solo players cant open their mouth lest they get 3-4 reports for the premade.

This is not ''lowering'' toxicity as much as creating a sistematic imbalance that is horrible to play in but ''defeats'' the toxicity because you cant complain when you have 3-4 people holding a metaphorical gun to your head.

There is also the fact that DQ gets lumped and intentionally overlaped/mixed by Rito with the new champion select and role queueing (cant forget the shoddy, unprofessional poll). If DQ and the other 2 were introduced at different times, specially DQ before NCS/RQ, DQ could have been a cesspit of toxicity and premades basicaly blackmailing soloplayers into ''give us your role or you get 3-4 reports''.

3-4 reports in a single game is no more weighted than a single report, so cross-complaints (assuming the solo is reporting the premades as well) are still considered equal until things have been reviewed. As long as the solo doesn't actually try to ruin the game for anyone, he/she has nothing to fear from "3-4 people holding a metaphorical gun to your head."

I can't comment about the severity of toxicity at the higher tiers, as I have no dog in that fight, but I just wanted to point out that the reporting function has not changed in the midst of the Dynamic Queue debacle.

Troll for Trump1 votes

Toxic premades don't have to be made out of toxic individuals.

You can have toxic individuals dragging their normally nontoxic friends, or people who are actually toxic, but know how to hide it, or keep it away from their game, and either make them toxic, or make it so it's one more person supporting them behind their back.

Premades can end up causing toxicity when they don't mean to. You may think you and your 3 friends barking orders and pings to the soloQ isn't toxic, but it's really, really obnoxious.

MonkeyMadness3 votes

And God forbid you are a solo player matched on the same team with a 4 man...on the rare occasion that they even bother communicating with you, it will almost exclusively be to blame and flame their random fifth wheel (even though statistically this blame will more likely be more accurately placed on a member of the premade). Happened to me recently. Got 4 man reported for calling out one of them for a completely boneheaded move and I got a warning that ended up costing us the game. Meanwhile, my singular reports on them do absolutely nothing.

My analysis is this: Riot measures toxicity based on report quantity and number of bans (which are, of course, interrelated). DQ has absolutely seen a dramatic decrease in ban rate, due to the fact that premades will virtually never report each other. This is yet another perfect example of Riot choosing to ignore real world issues with their game and only focusing on the statistics that they like and make them look good.

Photos of Ghosts1 votes

"my singular reports on them do absolutely nothing" Are you on drugs? Sorry, I'm aware that this is very rude, but why would the fact that they're assholes ingame mean that they're not punished postgame? Precisely the opposite happens, that's why it's called a punishment. The punishment system doesn't count reports, it counts games in which you've been reported. 9 or 1 reports in a single game don't change a thing. And even before it was like that, premades were ignored and counted as one.

MonkeyMadness2 votes

Well 9 reports vs 1 report is absolutely a thing. Perhaps you weren't playing when the community Tribunal was still up and running, but if you were, then you would remember that nearly every case file in that system had multiple games worth of reports, and multiple reports per game. Very rarely would you see someone with a game in which they were reported only once. This is even worse with the autoban format Riot now uses (and if you think there isn't a ban bot, then you have clearly never banned nor do you know anyone that suffered from the permanent chat ban situation and had no idea what was going on. The system is so automated that the people in Riot support don't even have an accurate assessment of how to explain it to players who submit tickets. This automated system is even more report-density dependent. If you get reported enough, the bot will find something that sticks. Hence, having only 1 report against the toxic premade per game will absolutely reduce the likelihood of them getting banned. Not to mention, some players simply don't report, or perhaps forget to report (maybe they are in a rush to get into their next game, or perhaps they just want to get away from the toxicity and leave the lobby before submitting). When you have 4 players that are angry enough to report, even if 1 or 2 don't report, you will still have 2 reports against the toxic player. However, when there is only 1 report available, forgetting to report or otherwise not using the system results in 0 reports for that particular case of toxicity, meaning that it will not count towards that player's punishment. It is a case of reduced representation. This is just fact, you cannot argue with this statement.

Pretty much. Most people in Diamond are decently toxic and so the ones that aren't usually just ignore them because they don't really care to report, so it just builds up over time.

I'll admit I've also had toxicity issues in the past and still have plenty of anger issues. I honestly think a lot of high elo players usually have some sort of mental problems as well as the "I'm Diamond" ego. The combination makes games really tense and tempers fly at something silly like 2-3 unintended deaths.

I think they're just counting the raw numbers, which of course will be lower. If I have 4 people premade, they aren't likely to talk shit since they're mostly on Skype and in their own world. They're not going to rage at each other (or at least won't report each other) and there's only one other target on their team instead of the normal 4 when queuing solo. It's just basic math that there are fewer opportunities for toxicity - especially when you get your role.

It's not just higher ELO's. the entire DQ system is a toxic sesspool that riot is too god damn lazy to even fix. Hell, they should give solo queuers like myself an incentive to actually play more.. something like bonus LP when you win.. because in trying to get back up to gold, I have almost had a heart attack in a few of my games over the past few months.. been chat restricted at least twice because I finally had it with a few feeders and toxic players, and I'm about ready to just pay someone to legally boost me back to gold at this rate, because solo queing as a support main is terrible.

Dynamic Queue hasn't lowered toxicity outside of premades.

Even if we take your assumption to be true, if Dynamic Queue has increased the number of premades on ladder by 300-500% or so, that's a whole hell of a lot less toxic games.

So Riot is still right. If your argument is "there's no change in games where everyone is solo", Riot would reply "Yeah, because nothing has changed in that particular game, all we did was encourage premades and boom, toxicity is down across the board"

So Riot is still right. If your argument is "there's no change in games where everyone is solo", Riot would reply "Yeah, because nothing has changed in that particular game, all we did was encourage premades and boom, toxicity is down across the board"

It's still an issue of avoidance that doesn't make the game helpful for players who do play in a primarily solo environment. In fact, it makes it worse because by the time they actually get into game a lot of the people I play with are cranky and irritable.

tl;dr every change Riot has made with DQ completely shafts high elo and it's incredibly frustrating considering how much time and effort I put into this game only for this to happen..

High elo is probably less than 1% of the player base. Riot is trying to make things better for them. Everyone else is largely unaffected.

High elo actually starts at roughly 2% of the playerbase.

Toxicity lives on in the mind of the toxic players. These players are mainly Bronze III through Plat II, However I have never been out of the toxic cess pool that is this game. Sigh.

I lost 3 ranked's in a row, feelsbadman. Last game our tryndamere got pissed off at us because we didn't have positive scores and the enemy was just way more fed and had better positioning than us.

Hey at least people now tend to also blame DQ for matching against premades instead of only flaming their team8s! Thats... something... i guess...
