I just played as AD to the Smite Support Nunu.

I can honestly say I have no clue why you guys are enamored with this player.

Champ select; he gives his whole spiel on what he's doing, locks Smite Nunu (ofc). Tells me to pick something that can solo lane. I'm trying to be safe so I pick Caitlyn.

He never came bot. Ever. You know who did though? Their jungle Elise. I spent the entire game up to that point incapable of farming because I was against a Nami and I look back and I see an Elise sitting right behind me waiting for the minion wave to walk up. I lost first tower. And second, because their team was willing to send 4 bottom and I had nobody to actually help fight the lane.

We lost while he was ranting about how efficient it is.

Giving up first tower is not being efficient. Not putting any resources into a lane that's destined to lose without help is not efficient.

I didn't report him because I have brothers who used to try break the meta and it's really the same thing (albeit different elo) but seriously, when you're Diamond, I kinda hoped this is something people gave up trying to do.

EDIT: for the players that keep telling me to pick Ezreal I was going to but he got picked up in the previous rotation.

Riot never said they banned him for being a dick. If they had no one would have backed him up.

They said they banned him for not communicating well enough with his team. When everyone asked "what's good enough?" Riot couldn't come up with a good enough answer. Being unable to come up with an example of what good communication looked like in that kind of scenario, they decided to drop the ban.

If Riot had chosen to say they were banning him for his attitude the situation would have been similar to Dominick Destines case, where the question would have been what punishment he should have gotten not if he should have been punished.

Sadly, yes, some things need to be said. Lots of people are either ignorant of or lacking common decency. That's the reason the punishment system exists after all.

I think something along the lines of "while some teammates were reporting you for your pick and strategy, the reason we took action was because of your behavior. You frequently start games with statements aimed at demoralizing teammates..."

Regardless of rules or whatever if the vast majority of your own team is consistently reporting you I don't care what you're doing but it needs to stop.

Riot tried just saying "stop", that was why the 2 week ban was issued, but when they couldn't answer what was wrong the situation exploded.

Need to stop what is at the heart of the issue. Stop playing Nunu? Stop playing Support? Stop taking Smite? Stop leaving the ADC alone? Stop the attitude? Stop some combination of those?

Identifying what is wrong is the first step in fixing it, both for this case and for any future cases. They need to tell him what to stop before he can stop it.

They banned him for being a dick. That's the only reason they ever ban people.

People are jumping on the "Riot is enforcing the meta!" bandwagon. But this ban has nothing to do with the meta at all. It has to do with a player that was reported by his teammates consistently enough. The players chose this, not Riot.

Breaking the meta or no, you're clearly doing something wrong when other people think you are that miserable to play with.

Yeah, but being miserable to play with isn't ever a reportable or punishable option.

You can't punish players for afk farming and never grouping(jg or ADC)

You can't punish players for being cocky

I don't think Riot will punish players for spam taunting/mastery emote-ing

Actually you can report people for literally afk farming, I've seen players get pissed and go "ima afk farm top" and actually do it. That's reportable cause its basically equivalent to inting, you're totally unuseful AND denying your team resources. AFK pushing for no reason cause you cant be bothered to play the game properly is a sign of negative attitude, and is also directly hurtful to your team.

Yeah, it is. That's actually the whole point behind reporting people: they're such an awful person that you don't want to play with them again.

There's a big difference between playing poorly and playing like an ass, and you have every right to report people for playing like an ass.

Granted, it's a lot harder to harass people purely with gameplay and not using chat, but it's definitely possible.

I dont think people on the boards actually understand just how hard it is to 1v2 bot lane. I don't even play bot lane and I know that shit is impossible. They will either freeze the wave and the support zones you from any farm whatsoever. Or they push in and dive you with the jungler and take first blood tower. The people who defend this kind of play style are idiots.

Yeah pretty much. It was downright impossible to cs because Nami could just as easily walk up to me and auto W for a quarter of my life so I was like, "Alright let's just sit at tower."

and then I saw Spider Bitch behind me and I was like, "Let's uh... let's look at the map to see my team backing me up and... okay I'm taking the L for this one. Fantastic." Ate a stun and a botlane's damage under turret and they got first tower too.

If they have 3-4 people botlane your team should be putting pressure and getting objectives elsewhere. It sounds like the entire team waa doing wonky shit not just Nunu. Not defending him, just saying sounds like there is more to the story

The thing is even if Nunu goes mid all he can do is blood boil a midlaner and shout "push"... I mean top could maybe have turned it with a TP, but in all honesty, the adc is the easiest tower dive in the game, especially with an elise. So probably not much his team could do, with Nunu probably running around farming enemy jng.

It's possible to play a 1v2 lane. There are just certain champions that can do it and those that can't. Exactly zero of those that can are ADCs, though. The problem is that you need an ADC, so you have to put one capable of being effective in another lane, but that puts a hole in your comp so you have to change another lane, which requires another change, and so on. Even if this shit was a good idea, in order for it to be optimal the entire team has to coordinate around it and be prepared for how it drastically alters the dynamic. There is no fucking chance of that smoothly happening in soloQ with a bunch of randoms, and frankly it shouldn't because his allies didn't sign up for that shit when they queued.

If you want to run severely out of the meta cheese comps do that shit in flex queue with a premade.

Well would you look at that: The guy routinely did stuff to piss people off. Riot banned the guy for doing something that pissed everyone off. The guy complained about it. Riot couldn't come up with a good way to phrase why he was banned. Fans complained about it. Riot unbanned him. The guy routinely did stuff to piss people off.

This is what the community gets for being so against Riot that they can't trust them to ever do their job. Riot did a fairly 'right' thing in this instance and fans bitching about it forced Riot to undo it. I wish Riot could force people who commented in support of him to play with his playstyle that they so enjoyed- it would be a poetic justice.

But no, instead somebody else has to suffer because the community can't bear for a game built entirely on playing with a team punishes someone who doesn't play with a team.

Being a dumbass or having a bad game isn't report worthy, although if he went 0/9/0 every game and still didn't give it up... I would call it intentional at that point.

But seriously, please don't encourage "report the feeder!" mentality (be real, that's what you're implying) even if they're being a dumbass. It's about intent, not being bad/stupid. This guy's getting pretty close, checking his match history. Makes me wonder why he still insists on playing it, considering he's not having much... success anymore.

However, from OP's post and your comment, the guy didn't do anything report worthy. I mean, OP communicated with the guy and picked Caitlyn. Your post just makes it sound "I'm upset, the guy is bad at the game, I'm going to report him for feeding."

Be honest with me. If he had played a traditional support and stayed bot, would you have reported him in the same circumstances? You are, even if you don't mean to, encouraging reporting players just for being bad at the game. The guy did communicate, and OP did compromise, so reporting him for playing Nunu smite "support" alone was not an offense committed here. It was just a really, really dumb strategy on the Nunu's part.

Just to double check and be sure, i looked at your OP.GG to make sure you werent just trying to perpetuate hatred. Indeed you did play with him. I personally beleive he was rightfully banned. I just double checked you so other people know you are telling the truth.

ALSO GOOD GOD The nunu players average KDA on nunu out of 357 games played with a 55% winrate is 1.3/7.1/11.0 Thats not that many assists per death.

Well the whole point of support nunu is that you're helping to control objectives, doesn't excuse the lack of assists though, that's just fucked up... Hell, I've done better as support KATARINA.

Listen i dont care if you have gotten EVERY objective. if your average kill is 1 AND you have even deaths to assists, thats a problem. Nunu EXISTING in teamfights should get him ~2-3 assists per teamfight. What this tells me he is either A) Dying to secure 1 kill B) Being in VERY few teamfights and solo dying A LOT.

You know the issue with his logic is that MOST junglers that are popular at high elo are early game junglers who will fall off eventually anyway. The idea for them is to grab as many kills and assists before that point happens. :/ So they personally don't care how little or how much farm they have; they're out to snowball a lead by killing laners as much as possible before they nose dive out of oblivion. Elise, Lee Sin, Pantheon, these kind of junglers don't care particularly how much farm they have. They cripple you by killing you over and over again with their early game damage.

This Nunu more than deserved the ban he got but everyone and their mother circle jerked and kicked up a massive shit storm because the reason in their small brained minds was he was just "breaking the meta." No. He's trolling. He's not communicating WITH his team. Communicating WITH a team and communicating AT a team are massively different.

Editing to Add: Also, if you notice, 90% of the games he loses are against either junglers who have no interest in farm(Elise, Panth, Lee Sin) or are going to be useful regardless of how much farm they have(Ivern is the big one I see here but also most tank junglers or junglers who can swap to tank, like Gragas, Maokai, etc). This strat is not 100% everytime and has major, gaping flaws that are easily seen from just an outside perspective. :/ He doesn't ever change his game or play style up though, regardless of this. This is a guy who is intentionally feeding and trolling.
