Why Do Promo Series Exist?

Why do we have to win a completely arbitrary number of games to be promoted if our MMR is already equivalent to the next division? If you want evidence of how little sense that makes, notice we have no demotion series, nor should we have one.

If the game feels we belong in a different rank, adjust our rank. I'm tired of winning 25 LP per win then tanking out of series because of people who would rather rage and AFK than play. No, it won't "trap" you but it wastes your f*cking time for no good reason.

you can actually skip promos and entire divisions if your MMR is high enough.
