Kinda like how he got dumpstered in the rework to fill a cheesey competative role...

Yay....

He didn't do well because TSM just funneled all of the kills to Akali. Galio just happened to have been the one fed guy's lane opponent. Had nothing to do with Galio himself.

Edit: I'm a big fan of Team Liquid, so I'm salty about that game to be honet.

Wasn't a bad strategy. Akali is strong when she gets ahead if the person knows what they're doing. She's pretty weak if she falls behind or if the person has no idea how to play her properly. There's a reason Bjergsen is the top mid laner NA and 2nd in the world for many years.

Oh, so Doublelift meant it when he said TSM is boosted. He's basically the Faker of NA. XD

I don't know anything about that because I don't know what doublelift said. I do enjoy watching bjergsen play though and, unlike Faker, bjergsen was willing to adapt to the new meta.

MR niche galio (still having magic dmg) dumpstered w/ rework, became full tank galio mid (b/c of good base damages) which also got gutted to make ppl build AP galio, which ALSO got gutted.

And so now (diamond +) galio is 43% winrate garbage tier pick.

nice rework rito.

The pre rework Galio wasnt actually an MR niche. That's why he was played so little. He was better being built with AP and Armor. His old passive was a noob trap, but no one took the time to do the math and figure it out so he was reworked into this hot garbage that doesnt act, look, or play like the old one.

The holy trinity of fucking up a rework.

There were some really good MR items for him back in the day.

Chalice/Athene's, Abyssal Scepter, Banshee's Veil, and Spirit Visage.

Galiö1 votes

Chalice was good until it was reworked season.. 4?

Abysmal wasnt that great unless enemy had 3 or more AP, banshees was garbage and spirit visage was A+ which galio cant even realistically build anymore.

Khristophoros1 votes

Yeah when they reworked Chalice and Athene's that pretty much destroyed Galio.

It doesn't destroy him was just unfortunate -very unfortunate. He had a 54% winrate average since then until his rework.

I forgot who was playing him but he didn't play it very well. It seemed like TL had to get hit by a sick Akali flank before waking up and realizing she was a huge threat, and even after that happened, Galio didn't use his ult on Trist once. Like he just tried using it to help Alistar + Rumble do a wombo combo but that's extremely stupid considering it's not a properly chained lockdown so unsurprisingly we saw TSM escape it without much effort.

It was just a very poorly played Galio. He should be ulting a carry unless his team has a specific wombo combo that his ult can actually chain with.

Also it's probably not a proper counterpick to Akali since she has pretty good sustain in lane.

Galio should be very good into akali since she jumps at him and galio doesnt have to seeher to pull off a full combo.

My critique is more of how galio is lame cheese for pros who was at his best whe the meta involved 4 players devoting their time to protecting the marksmen - instead - of a champion that can build or be built against withing a game and had a healthy kit that was nerfed season 2 and continuously nerfed until he was reworked other than a beautiful QoL buff to his ult.

RIP trying to make champions work and hello deleting champions for no reason.

I mean Akali isn't gonna jump on him. She's content farming out the laning phase because she has the sustain and mobility to shrug off any bullying attempts by him.

I miss his old kit too and I resent that they deleted it but I think the new kit is really good. He has 2 CC skills just on his normal abilities and a decent amount of damage if he lands his combo. His ult is useful even in solo queue as long as you have somebody who knows how to play a carry and you just ult them when they need it.

I get that. But just saying why is is considered an akali counter.

His new kit is OK but that's not entirely my argument.

His new kit is better suited for competative and is ok-mediocre in solo q.

His old kit was actually better but undertuned (which is part of my argument)

The biggest part of my argument though is how it's a completely different kit.

It's like taking the aatrox gameplay changes but cranked to 11.

Taking the galio visual changes and... well he was the biggest visual changes.

And taking the biggest personality changes...again Galio...

Wish Galio had a rework like Nunu. Even if he looks very different atleast its recognizable... His gameplay is recognizable even though it has two new abilities.

Galio had none of that treatment and he wasnt even the most needed VGU, even if he wasnt changed to this date he still wouldn't be the most needed VGU.

Yeah I agree with you. Unfortunately Riot had always hated Galio's original kit ever since it was meta early after it was added. I have no idea why they hated it so much to be honest. It was a super fun kit but they just undertuned the absolute fuck out of it to force people not to like him. It's really sad.

Let's be honest it has nothing to do with Pob or Galio and everything to due with the fact Akali is straight busted.
