Galio is zero fun anymore

I used to LOVE playing Galio Then he got reworked and he was Meh

Then the Ardent Meta came about shortly after and he was a mid lane support.

Then he was made into an insane burst mage with cross map presence.

Then he was made into a protobelt abusing Mage.

Then he had nothing left but he base damage and cheesing flash taunts.

And now he is... idk a mix of Protobelt mage/Afk shover?

There is nothing interesting about him anymore in any way.

His Passive is very strong His Q is near useless in 75% of scenarios His W is near useless if the enemy has CC (worse than his old ult was but just on lesser CD) His E is boring His R is boring and useless (it "looks cool" but other than flashy VFX it's boring, you can do this with any champion without having to rework)

I try hard as hell to get my voice heard for pre rework mains and a way of making Galio atleast a bit more unique.

But he is now less popular than the old Galio ever was and is designed in a way that no matter how you buff him itll do nothing but make him a more annoying burst mage or wave shover.

Cmon....

Coming from a guy who is top 4 Mastery Points on him Globally AND I barely played League on this (or much on other) accounts.

Just took everything fun away from me and my ability to play this game and have fun was taken from me.

Yes I am only one player, but no other game TAKES THINGS AWAY from players.

There are no options for me to play like the old Galio and it all sucks and I'm still very upset about it and will always be.

He was my FAVORITE game character, in league or not.

RIP

Ahh Galio Players are now feeling like OG Karma players. I'm sorry to hear that you have lost your love for a champion due to Riots inability to understand the playerbase. It would be in your best interest to just find a new champion. When they go this deep they don't comeback.

I’m sad he’s gutted. I liked him as ap bruiser/tank mix.

Galio's punches, especially his passive ground slam thing, feel awesome. I've tried to play him on-hit before just because of it... it does not work.

I like playing him as more of a hybrid/tank support now

Max E first cuz your Q poke is mediocre but once you get more CDR your passives damage combined with not dying instantly gets pretty spooky

Been playing league since season 2 or so. I started playing this game because of some fan art i saw kayle (and morgana), and ive gotten ungodly numbers of hours out of my dear friend, and since the rework shes just gone. This isnt even purely a rememberance of her old gamplay.... No more is the benevolent archangel who strove to protect all the innocent of runeterra. Not sure how many remember the journals of justice back in the day, or maokai's old lore... But when maokai first came into being he was a great ancient tree in a townsquare packed to the brim with people. He threw a fit in his confusion, and kayle used intervention to save the crowd. She likely saved loads of criminals and sinners... But she also saved the innocent. Would todays hyper paranoid kayle even think about saving the crowd? No. And honestly to me? That means she truely has lost her way, she is the evil one here... How bad does riot have to fuck up for a kayle supporter to step back and say morgana is the (more)righteous one? How does that even happen?

As for her gameplay? Yeah, i love waiting like 20 minutes before i get to start playing the game Real fun

So I well understand your lamentations brother, for we are of the same kith and kin when it comes to how weve been treated by riot, whyfor must reworks be for the players who thought not once about the champions we loved instead of the ones who loved the champions now lost

Oh well. Champion updates aren't for people who like the outdated version. Especially in Galio's case, where he saw play rates he'd never seen before.

It's not Riot's fault you picked one champion to chain yourself to, and don't understand what was wrong with him.

For me, Galio died after Patch [7.21] when they made him build Glass Cannon. His Ability to support was what got me to play him again, however the recent changes they made to him kinda killed that for me as well.

It's gotten to the point where I don't even know what he is anymore. Sure he's a champion that specializes in being Anti-Magic, but is he supposed to be a Tank or a Bruiser?

Galio was too tactical and required you to understand the game itself rather than use twitch-reflexes or broken champions. Thus, Riot must destroy them rather than allow said tactical play to exist. The game is going downhill pretty hard if you enjoy anything other than Call of Duty style fiesta play. Just remember, Pyke is what they want for a champion (as show by their refusal to fix him).

so dont play him

I agree, the rework was spitting in the face of the few of us who enjoyed old Galio.

I was thinking that it would be good, that they removed the current W, for the old one, and that the damage of the Q climbs a lot with magical resistance.

I used to be an pre Yorick OTP, so i know how you feel.

Further revised this write-up, using stuff you've suggested in the thread.

I'm not actually too invested in Galio personally, I just like theorycrafting.

/-/-/

P: Magnum Opus (as in, Durand's magnum opus, renamed because it's not just Colossal Smash)

  • Petricite Bulwark: Galio passively gains a shield that absorbs Magic Damage until broken. The shield refreshes if Galio hasn't taken damage recently.

  • Colossal Smash: Galio periodically modifies his next basic attack to deal Magic Damage to his target and nearby enemies. This effect's cooldown is reduced whenever Galio applies crowd control to an enemy champion.

  • Colossal Smash base damage changed to a percentage of Galio's current magic shield.

  • Colossal Smash cooldown adjusted accordingly.

Q: Gilded Winds (I think this name sounds more fitting for what Galio is personally)

  • Arcing wind blasts removed. Instead Galio fires a compressed burst of air directly at a target location like his old Q, dealing Magic Damage on impact.
  • After impact, the burst creates a tornado at that location, like his current Q. The tornado no longer slowly advances, but instead widens over the duration.
  • Tornado duration increases with Galio's level, up to a maximum of 2.5 seconds at level 18.
  • Damage rebalanced and cooldown reduced.

W: Shield of Durand

  • Passive magic shield removed.
  • Damage reduction removed. Instead, Galio stores a large portion of incoming Magic Damage as Grey Health, along with a smaller portion of Physical Damage. Percentage of damage stored scales with bonus Magic Resistance.
  • On second cast, Galio consumes the Grey Health and heals himself for a portion of it. The portion healed increases for each enemy champion taunted, with diminishing returns beyond the first.
  • Minimum taunt duration increased to 0.75 seconds (maximum still 1.5 seconds).
  • AP scaling reduced.

E: Justice Punch

  • On cast, Galio's Magic Resistance increases by a percentage for a short time. If Justice Punch hits an enemy champion, the bonus is refreshed and extended.
  • Base damage and AP scaling reduced, now also scales slightly with bonus Magic Resistance.

R: Hero's Entrance

  • Cannot be cast while in combat.
